Actually it is that Sarkozy's MOTHER was from a Tunisian Jewish family (not unlike Senator George Allen's mother) except that Sarkozy's grandmother was a French Bouvier, and not Jewish. Thus his maternal grandfather Mellah was Jewish.

One of the most disturbing moments of the campaign was when Royal warned of riots if voters elected Sarkozy. Wonderful news for (most of) the French, and for America-it will be good to have France as an ally again, and not the enemy she has been for decades.
