After all what we suffered in a long civil war we should have learned by now that there is no winners in wars. The victorious one is the one who can achieve more killing & destruction in the oponent. For Israel not winning the war does not make us winners. I can see that Nasrallah is trying to twist the truth to convince us that the war was inevitable & that having Israel prepared for the war four months prior to it ,is a proof that Israel was going to launch the war regardless if he kidnapped the soldiers or not. This assumption is not acceptable. Since it is very logical for any country to prepare itself and to put military plans to respond againt an expected attack from an enemy. I think it is time for the Lebanese people to stop supporting adventurer's like Nasrallah & to put them to trial for the killing & destruction they caused.

Don't confuse missing objectives with defeat. Did Israel achieve all of its objectives- no. Does that mean was it defeated? - NO!! Is Israel's ifrastructure in ruins, begging the world for funds, Prime Minister under seige from a militia, UN troops on its soil? -NO!! That's for the country that lost the war.

You didn't deny Hizbullah soldiers ran away and abandoned their positions and weapons. You didn't deny many were taken prisoner or killed. Nasrallah carefully avoids mentioning his losses. Unlike Israeli soldiers who risked, and in some cases sacrificed their lives to save their comrades, Hizbullah fighters left their dead comrades behind. Israel provides psychological assistance to their soldiers becuase war is traumatic. Hisbullah fighters also experienced a trauma and surely the Lebanese civilians did but to admit the need for help is a weakness for Hizbullah. In Israel it's a necessary response where professionals are trained to provide this assistance. I see you have not answered the other posters who asked what you won? Was the death of 1200 Lebanese, the destruction of hundreds of homes, roads, infrastructure, bringing the trauma and destruction of war worth it? As pointed out here by others you lost 1200 with about 600-700 Hesbo fighters. Front line elite fighters at that. All infrasturcture in the south destroyed. Really, how many merkevas did you destroy in 33 days? Is it the same as the number of planes you "shot down"? Or the ships you "sank"? Olmert is so desperate to save his own failed politcal career he is willing to sacrifice the interests of the country and accept the arab plan which is a plan for disaster. If Olmert had any respect for the people he would resign and hold fresh ellections not keep clutching politcal survival or simply giving Livni a coranation because she is even more pro arab plan than he is. Your right hizbollah did win this war not because of their superior millitary ability or tactics but because Israels tactics were all wrong. As for the merkavas out of over 100 sent into battle only 3-4 were totaly destroyed and some others were damaged but were back in action soon enough these included the older merkava 2 used in the original Lebanon war and non of the newest merkava 4 were were dmaged. In the scale of things I think that the merkavas held out pretty well The main reason that the others were destroyed or damaged is because of cut backs in the millitary budget the IDF did not invest in anti tank missle an defense system to keep the cost of the tanks down which could have stopped many of those missles Hopefully there wont be another Lebanon war and Israel and Lebanon can make peace Israel can be an ally to Lebanon against Syrian interfearence in Lebanon but if there is anothe war then Israel needs to make sure that there are better people running the show Halutz selling his investments on the eve of war, Peretz the idiot defense minister and Olmert the idiot PM who didnt know what he was doing it was a failing on all fronts by Israels leadershi and an army is only as good as the men running it.
