1. Happy to see

I am very happy to see that a nation that nearly suffered total extermination buy the nazis has found a solution for these Sudani refugees. It really is heart warming to see these poor people with some hope now. Hopefully it will be permanent. I have one question to fellow israelis though... I noticed that they would be earning a minimum of 4000 NIS plus some very nice perks Dont get me wrong, they deserve it). How is it that the same solution can't be found for Israeli born nationals? I know a lot of people, my wife included who find it very hard to get full time work and when they do , it is a lot less than 4000 NIS. Somethings really screwy there...
2. Thank you Isrotel for this act of humanity .

The people will feel useful at least.
3. Well done Israel

sounds to good to be true your right 4000 a month but how many hours are these people working.
5. good idea in proportion because there are limited number job

Allthough I am of course delighted they are out of the hell hole in Sudan and are getting jobs in Israel I just worry that finding employment for the Sudanese jobs and they dont have Israeli citizenship or pay the taxes is the number of jobs given to them Will this affect the number of jobs avalible to Israelis in any significant way .. there are plenty of Israelis who would work for 4000NIS + perks if they have no money. If its only a small number of jobs given to them then go for it they are entitled to their share of employment but if the numbers become to high then the policiy needs to be thought through again because as good as it is to give something to refugees citizens must get prioirty.
6. Excellent private solutions (when community fails)!
Helene ,   Israel   (05.13.07)
Many countries could learn from this example. I hope it will get at least some of the international attention that it deserves!!!

I dont want to take away what this article is about and I am really happy to see there is some compassion and care for people who have suffered and are looking for help. I just think that prehaps YNET and other news agencies could research and reveal day to day problems that are right here every day with Israeli born people. I dont know how many hours our new neighbours have to work, but I can assure you, from personal experience , that it couldnt be more than a lot people born in this country. I have two jobs , one is full time 9 to 10 hour a day, 7 days a week job, and the second is about 4 nights a week (after the full days work) at about 5 or 6 hours a nigh and I dont make that much more than what they are getting. The point isnt what we make as apposed to what they make or what they do, but the point I hope to be making is that we dont see the news agencies researching and exposing the injustices our country imposes on people already here. I hope that Israel will continue to show compassion to others in their time of need and that Israeli citizens continue to show this kind of generosity. I just think that an equal amount of compassion and generosity should be shown to our own citizens too
8. Speaking of racism: The Arabs killed/or chased them out

but the Jews took them in.
9. Great!
Tobias ,   Germany   (05.13.07)
This are very good news. Thank you, Isrotel, for helping these poor people who escaped the sudanese genocide, and after a long jouney ended up in a prison and a military base. A military base is not such a good place for refugees, and especially for children. Thank you, Israeli authorities, for not stopping this solution by some burocratic mess (I guess in Germany they won't get a work permit...). Thank you, YNet, for publishing such positive news.
10. YES!!!!!!!!!!!
Korem ,   New York, USA   (05.13.07)
What great news...I was worried they would be sent back to Egypt. Good job Israel!! Good luck to them and may they become citizens and friends of Israel for generations to come!!
11. Thank you Israel
Alex ,   United States   (05.14.07)
I was nearly moved to tears when I read about the happy ending for these refugees. A big 'toda' should be given to the hotel chain for this great act of kindness. Generosity like this needs to be conveyed to the rest of the world that continuously paints Israel in a negative image. When these refugees had no place to go, it was the the people of the Jewish state that took them in. I just hope the Israeli government takes a larger role in shining the light on this human tragedy in Sudan.
12. Israel we love You :)
ben ,   singapore   (05.14.07)
The Minister of Education , apply your discretionary powers to put the Sudenese Children in school .Send the bills to UNHCR, Egypt and the Saudi King and King Jordan :) Anyway To OLmert - Hei Man , Thank you brother :)

NIS 4000 plus free lodging, transportation and laundry is pretty good for a foreign worker regardless of the hours; it's more than many Israelis working for a minimum wage get. And I doubt that a serious company like Isrotel would violate the Israeli labor law by making these people work more hours than is legally allowed.
14. Wait till this news gets round Darfur-Isrotels will have
Alan ,   SA   (05.14.07)
staff for the next thousand years . A win win win situation for all. Isrotels-Darfurians& even Sudan
15. David Blum
Daniel van Dalen ,   Jerusalem   (05.14.07)
David, THANK YOU for this. This is GREAT news!!!!! I hope that they will rebuild their lifes succesfully here in Israel. That they will learn Hebrew easily, and that they will feel at home here. Perhaps some of them will even convert, who knows (but nobody should ever pressure them into that direction, since that is a crime against humanity - and they have already had enough of that). I hope that the children will succesfully integrate and that the families will be able to stay in Israel. We are giving the right example to the world this way. What I request of anyone who criticizes this: Have you already tried to imagine finding yourself in their position? What would you do? How would you want Israel to react? People such as David Blum and Arcadi Gaydamak are the ones who keep this country alive. We should be proud of them, and we should be ashamed of the government.
16. Sudanese Refugees at our Door
Rachel ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.14.07)
Finally! A story of Sudanese refugees with a happy ending. If all Israeli businesses acted as responsibly as the Isrotel chain our status in the world would improve dramatically. These refugees deserve our respect and care as it is a scandal that a nation that has so much has not figured out how to share what we have with the less fortunate.

19. Back to Reality: Question for all
Carl ,   Indianapolis, USA   (05.14.07)
Very kind response from Israel. No question. But, is Israel going to accept any number of refugees from now on? Hundreds? Thousands? Hundreds of thousands? What is Israel's policy regarding non-Jewish refugees, anyway?
20. David Blum for Prime Minister!!!
