33. what Canadains think
I really think that the people of Israel souldn't have anything to worry about. Support for Israel is really high in Canada well over 70% in the polls. A few weeks ago there was a rally for Israel and 7000 people showed up that a lot more than any Pro-Palestinian rally's even had EVER. Canadians are really smart people and will never give in to the demands of some people who want to destory what Canada has worked so hard to bring to the world. Palestinians that are living in Canada should be greatful that they were welcomed to Canada with open arms as are any person that comes to this great land. About the CAIA and thier supporters I do believe that CSIS(Canadian Security Intelligence Service)and the RCMP( Royal Canadian Mounted Police) probability have one big file on CAIA's and its activities.

34. #33 - Canada
Although I'm glad to hear about support for Israel in Canada, one wonders why does Canada continue to import problems into the country. It is obvious that there are more problems than benefits in continuing to admit people who do not integrate culturally. Their numbers may be small now but it won't take long till they begin to have clout in foreign policy. Things are not going well with immigration anywhere, not in Europe and not in America. Canada will pay dearly for whatever economic gain it gets through immigration.

35. Boycott of Canadian bookstores
The Coalition against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA) would be a laughable organization were it not for the source of its funding, namely the Ontario wing of the Canadian Unoin of Public Employees (CUPE), Canada's largest labour union. A resolution passed at CUPE's last Convention condemned Israel in extremely one-sided terms and pledged funding for pro-Palestinian causes. The next Convention, to be held on Shavuot next week (coincidence?) will herald the introduction of additional anti-Israel resolutions and the publicaiton of sophisticated printed propaganda that CUPE will be distributed throughout the country. CUPE is also asking members to approved a 23% increase in their membership dues, presumably to help fund vicious attacks like the ones described here. CUPE gets away with this because a 1991 Supreme Court of Canada decision validated the power of unions to fund causes extending well beyond their traditional mandate of promoting fair wages, benefits, and working conditions for workers. This could all be stopped if the Canadian government (which is very pro-Israel) introduced legislation that would limit union funding to causes directly benefiting their members at their workplaces. Canadian readers who are concerned about groups like CAIA should begin lobbying their federal government to introduce this legislation as soon as possible to prevent such vicious anti-Israel actions from being taken.
