Atilla Karagözoğlu   (05.18.07)
5. ADL HAS WORKING BLIND EYES !
TODAYS ADLMANAGEMENT IS ONE OF THE STOP FOR ISRAELIES FINAL VICTORY. Atilla Karagözoğlu for the NEW CHIEF OF ADL
(05.18.07)
6. Pole
Although I think this was a biased poll I do think some of the concerns Israelis expressed in it are quite valid, especially in light of the turn towrds secularism by American Jews.
Thomas ,   Cleveland USA   (05.18.07)
7. Why we support Israel
Some of us do, Because without your religion, some of us wouldn't have one Because we admire your attitude towards education Because you've contributed so much to the sciences Because you've contributed so much to the arts and entertainment Because even your old Godfathers considered the Mafia only a one-generational means to provide a better life for their kids Because you know exactly who you are and have figured out how to be devout Jews and patriotic Americans without detriment to either Because you're not afraid of bullies Because you have a 2000 year old dream and, come hell or high water, you're intend to pursue it Because you don't hassle anybody at 7:30 on Saturday mornings Because anybody who can keep up with 613 religious laws and commandments has to have a lot on the ball Some of us love those blintzes, latkes and hamentaschen And some of us think - present aberrant leadership not necessarily included - you're one damn' plucky lot that we'd rather have on our side than on the other. (Last but not least, because some of us, admittedly and disgustingly superficial, think your men and women are so frigging gorgeous) I have to say all of this or else the nice Jewish guy up the street will come to my house and insist on explaining the Torah to me. And since he stutters very badly, I wouldn't live long enough to get to the good stuff.

8. true but
that israelis and their lobbies could care less about the best interest of the US. American soldiers are dispensible and the whole US economy can go to hell as it is now iwth this war mounting to HALF A TRILLION as long as israel's enemies are dealth with by the US even though they're not enemies of the US. it just shows that the US foreign policy for the mideast is hostage to israel's interests and set by israeli lobbies & that israeli's are selfish, cause if they were consiliatory with peace, none of these wars are needed. When american wake up from the Paris Hilton stories to see China exceeding them in every sector, cause they blew all their fortune on Israel's dirty wars, AND THEY WILL they won't be happy.

9. abe foxman.
#2 rivka in tel-aviv. if you are 'we the people' . certainly i am also. And I dont challenge the results of the pole. So my posting negates your posting... unless you are better informed than 'we the people'. .. which is of course always possible.

10. of course USA have to fight for isreal, since they can't
(05.18.07)
11. To #8
You show me a country, any country, that puts or purports to put somebody else's interests ahead of its own, and I'll show you a bunch of idiots with whom I wouldn't want too many dealings. If they're deluded about something that basic, no telling what else is wrong with them. To whatever degree we support Israel, there are, no doubt, good reasons for it. And which war, exactly, are we fighting for Israel??
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (05.18.07)
12. just be careful not to bite the hand that feeds
No one wants to, or will, be your friend or ally. Just a simple, inescapable truth.

13. "Should Israel face an existential threat,
80 percent believe the US would come to Israel's aid." Where is the evidence? US policy has been pro-Arab for a long time. Remember Oslo. US Governments pay lip service to Israel's security but their priorities lie in securing their ties with "moderate" Arab countries. Sorry to put it so bluntly, but if it came to a choice between Israel and their oil, the US government would choose oil. It would be the same as the Darfur situation: lots of statements, calls for UN action, and little else. I believe that Americans support Israel, but voters don't seem to have a lot of influence on what a government with such deep ties to the Saudis decides to do. It has been reported that the US plans to supply the Saudis with enough military equipment to put their air force on equal footing with the Israeli one. And with a nuclear Iran, Israel will be in a very vulnerable position. The US government couldn't care less about Israel's fate.

14. churchill told england to always stay friends with the usa
fdr sent convoys of supplies across the atlantic to england before the usa entered the war under the land lease program. america lost 400,000 soliders in wwll fighting to free the millions held in hitler's fortress europe. churchill knew america to be a country that loved feedom and hated tryanny and would fight evil beside its allies across the world. israel can trust america to stand with her. no doubts!

15. ISRAEL...AS A PART OF THE USA ?
That would certainly change the world political game, wouldn't it ? Could it be a the 51st State ? A Commonwealth ? A Possession ? Any takers out there ? Why ? Why not ? Discuss, please!
RCA ,   USA   (05.19.07)
16. Good
I was born in Israel but I've spent most of my lfie in America. I'm a proud Jew and a patriotic American and I think this is great news, albeit kind of obvious.

IF Bush is not a friend I would think the Democrats would be much less a friend.

18. To Tracy W #13
First of all, there is no such social entity as "government." We, the people of the US are the government. #2 Without oil, we're dead in the water, and we, the people, would scream off our heads. We get bent out of shape, when gas goes to $3 @ gallon. It, actually, would be in our best interest for gas to go to $5 @ gallon. It would make the development of our shale deposits so attractive, in 10 years, we wouldn't need anybody's oil. Israel, btw, has oil shale deposits in the Negev to the tune of 18 billion barrels; enough for 190 years of their domestic consumption. #3 Maybe, just maybe, we, the Saudis and Israel have something in common in the short run: to keep the lid on the Palis and hope they kill each other or wear themselves out trying. Nobody, but nobody, wants them; least of all their Arab brethren. If we sell state of the art weapons to the Saudis, that could have something to do with Iran. Do you honestly believe the Saudis are rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of that Iranian maniac's getting his hands on nukes? There is no love lost between those two. When all is said and done and regardless of what's being spouted, there must be some people over there who do believe that we would support Israel, if push came to shove, or they would, already, have pounced on Tel Aviv from every direction.
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (05.19.07)
19. 13: $10 billion/year is not lips service, it taxpayers money
that our elected leaders selct to give to Israel every year instead of investing it in US to help the taxpayers from this money is collected and media is lip-closed-tight about this big cheat of US taxpayers in favor of Israel. US also has to bribe bribe Egypt with $3 billion a year to make peace with Israel and other countries will also get a nice annuity from US if they make peace with Israel and promise to accept Israeli occupation in Palestine. Guess, 49 US vetoes to block UN/World from holding Israel accountable to its occupation and mass killings of Arabs, unlimited supply of tanks, fighters, apaches don't count also . Which planet you live on, there must be nothing called Internet/news ... where you are?

20. to # 11......r u kidding me?
if u don't know by now that this war was basically planned & executed by neocons who happen to be zealous zionists like Pearle, Wolfowitz, and many others then u live in a CAVE. do u believe that us politicians r doing what's best for americans??? they r stiffing the average american in every single aspect of their life in washington including domestic issues which should be more obvious to them, much less on foreign issues which may overload their brains like iraq ...look at immigration, global warming, outsourcings.....this democracyt is run by lobbies, at the top of which is the 3rd strongest lobby after AARP & NRA, that's AIPAC,,, politicians here care about their narrow interests and the AIPAC feeds & pushes that of politicians......legistlations are written by lobbies who pass them to politicians staff who barely read much of it while lobbies pump $$ to their campaign or against them if they oppose them....how is that to the best interest of the true average american??
amr   (05.19.07)
21. Israel has no friends
Jewish people are known allover the world that they have no none Jews friends , it's only from whom they can get the most and then they can stab you in the back after they take all what they want and Pollard is one of the witnesses for this , let the Jewish American zionists loby to stop puting presuer over the American politicians and see after if America will stay your best friend or not , It was planed since the first zionists congress in basel - Switzerland to rull the world through controling the super power in the world and because America is country with no culture and principles was easy to run it by controling their economy but this game didn't work in Europe because Europe has culture and history and they knew well how the Jews thinking , and the victims now first are the Americans them selfs and of course the Arabs too ... hope the Americans one day get awake and decide to change this .
(05.18.07)
22. To #11
Yeah, yeah, yeah! If it weren't for the Neocons, it would be the fault of the Moonbats. And if not for them, look for the Jooooooooos. Oh, right! AIPAC is the Jooooos. If the "true, average American" is stupid enough to let politicians, whom they elected and can replace, "stifle" their lives, they're getting exactly what they deserve. I, for one, have no problem with Zionism. I like people who are passionate about what they believe, be they Zionists, Americans, tree huggers, or Satan worshippers. If somebody else's passion infringes on my own, it's up to me to defend what I believe. If you want lobbies to be outlawed, do something about it. If I don't like something, you can bet that Chambliss and Isakson hear about it. With all the info. available these days, there are no excuses not to know how one's reps in Washington vote. All this griping, blaming and pointing fingers is a cop-out. Half the time, the loudest whining comes from people, who are too lazy to even vote, something I, an immigrant to the US, consider an honor and a privilege. It goes back to the old saw: Evil grows, when good people do nothing. Whining and looking for conspiracies, in my book, do not constitute "doing."

25. 10 billion a year?? Come off it!
Just keep lying, why don't you. Last I heard it was 2.4 billion, and I hope it gets phased out quickly given the kind of blackmail coming out of your mouth like a chemical spill.

26. #13-Tracy THINK AGAIN !
It seems to be one of those unfortunately forgotten facts, understandably of course, due to Israels on-going problems, that America's early support for Israel was a major factor in the winning and founding of Israel. The US , while occupied in the Cold War for it's survival on numerous clandestine fronts, was a major supplier of munitions, foodstuffs, finances, and advisors for some years leading up to the Six Day War. This is not to mention the support and finances provided by major Jewish organizations within the US on various levels. This alone would not have been possible without the cooperation of the US government. Those who believe America cares less for Israel are sadly mistaken. America , however, has, and has had a delicate balancing act regarding the Saudis and oil. These are just the facts. The split factions within the Saudi camp have their problems with us, as we have ours with them. In the balance are Americas energy needs and enemy ambitions within the Saudi government. In essence , both countries are juggling with chain-saws, yet each with an amount of ecomomic dependence on each other . It's very sticky situation which most Americans, given the choice, would rather avoid. Measures are being taken, though very slow , to untangle US dependence on Middle East oil. America cares deeply about Israel and its fate, however, rants about US unconcern for Israel do not help the situation any, and play into the hands of the enemy and helps to weaken resolve. It also has the appearance of biting the hand that helps feed when comming from Israelis. When comming from Americans it displays ignorance of the situation and events. Constructive criticism is encouraged while disinformation, enemy propaganda, and bull sh*t should be discouraged. The present policies of the US, Israel, and SA, must play out on the world stage. It is unfortunately a game of time and timing. This should be obvious to anyone with an adequate attention span and a historical sense. Gut reactions to events are not helpful, leadership and skill are, as well as proper informed public opinion which our enemies are fully aware. BETTER FOR ONE TO REMAIN SILENT AND BE THOUGHT STUPID, THEN TO SPEAK AND REMOVE ALL DOUBT.

I really agreed with and enjoyed all your comments and opinions that you have written in these talkbacks on this page and on previous occasions. Especially I enjoy your "good ol' common sense", something that is not that common these days. As I told Charles, now and then I might disagree. But so what ? Life is too short. I am becoming a fan and enjoy reading what you have to say.
