1. If Govt cant do anything, dont stop Mr G. from trying to help
Alan ,   SA   (05.20.07)
2. Ministers look stupid when someone actually does.
RH ,   Modiin   (05.20.07)
Whatever his motives he suceeds in correctly pointing to the fact the Govt is slow and ineffective.
3. Gaydamak is shaming the government!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.20.07)
Good for him!! A government that cannot protect its people should resign!!!
4. Thank You
Eitan ,   Tel Aviv & soon USA   (05.20.07)
At least he is doing something...pretty pathetic that only when a wealthy russian tycoon threatens to "help" the people does the government briefly cease its internal fight over the last pieces of bacon. Gadymark! I salute you...keep helping this country. Our government sure as hell isn't doing anything.
5. private bomb shelters
Dazed and Confused ,   Israel   (05.20.07)
Re shelters "Each house should be responsible for their own one." We were sold a house that supposedly has it's own bomb shelter. But we have to go outside and downstairs to get there, and we share it with another family. together we are 11 people. If we stand closely together, we can all get in. but the air would not last for long. Does the government seriously believe that this is a solution?
6. If the government cant help it should step down
Russel ,   Tlv   (05.20.07)
By the people; for the people - not for itself! Down with those who do not serve the public who elected them into power.
7. Shut Up Minister
OMG ,   Here & Now   (05.20.07)
The ministers should SHUT up and do something. We do not care who helps the people of Sderot just so that they get the help they need. This governmet and the Ministers are USELESS and should leave quietly. NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WOULD ALLOW THEIR CITIZENS TO BE BOMBARDED DAILY WITHOUT RESPONDING. SEND the Knesset packing.
8. So get off your collective ass and DO YOUR JOB.
Shuki   (05.20.07)
9. Cheaper Price
David ,   Israel   (05.20.07)
I suspect Gaydmak could get it done for less because, done through private channels, fewer people get a cut. Its sad that the government has to be provoked into doing its duty like this.
10. Shelters
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (05.20.07)
I don't understand any of this. If there's a rabid dog terrorizing the neighborhood, wouldn't it make a lot more sense to kill the mad dog than have everybody build fences around their yards? How and when did Israelis accept the idea that you should protect yourself from something or somebody that needs killing, especially, when you have the means to do so???
11. sderot
g.man ,   u.k.   (05.20.07)
No need to fortify anywhere yet, just move the terrorists in jail to where the rockets are landing,it should soon stop,if the terrorists cry geneva convention, tell them they are trying to kill civillian women and children,so where was there respect for the geneva convention then.
12. lazy gov!
Moshe ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.20.07)
Same old story, Gaydamak offers to do what should have been done in the first place, and suddenly the self righteous MK's wake up and go gee why didn't we think of that. What this country needs is a disbanding of the political parties and elections based on constituency. As it is now these crooks are only interested in keeping there positions not in doing for the people that vote them in to office. Of course this chance is impossible as it requires the approval of the very same scum and lowlifes we want to oust.
13. Its been 6 years people!!!!
Yael ,   Tel Aviv   (05.20.07)
And these houses and schools are still not fortified. Qassams have been falling on Sderot for more than half a decade and the government has repeatedly pledged money it never delivered on. What the government is upset about is that now they actually have to release that money and get off its collective ass and do something because Gaydamak has shamed them into it. Criticizing Gaydamak not only makes them look worse it makes them look completely stupid. Based on past performance, I wager Gaydamak’s cashola will get the fortifications done faster, cheaper, and that they might actually actually fortify when they are completed. At the very least, he caused the government to finally do what governments are supposed to do: protect their citizens.
14. Bloody Fools at the Israeli Parliament...
ben ,   singapore   (05.20.07)
if you fellows cant do it let the BRAVE ones to do it RIGHT. Olmert Enough of your " F" ups !
15. Commend Gadyamak
Brod ,   USA   (05.20.07)
The government should be commending and supporting Gadyamak for his excellent humanitarian for the people of Israel who are suffering from enemy attacks. Instead they are attacking Gadyamak. Are they trying to cover for their own sins and shortcomings in neglecting Sderot and the surrounding towns from the unrelenting rocket attacks they suffered from Israel's pernicious enemy--Hamas? The best thing the incompetent government can do for the people of Israel is to resign and let the people determine their next government.
16. Olmert--a total failure as a leader
bob ,   potomac md usa   (05.20.07)
and these other ministers too--he was incapable of fighting Hizbullah, he is now incapable of fighting Hamas--and he gets angry when someone comes in to save citizens that the government refuses to protect. This is certainly the lowest that Israel's leadership has ever reached. What towns will go next? Kiryat Gat? Ahskelon?
17. Gaydamak for PM
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.20.07)
Lev Leviev for Finance Minister
18. LIVE OR DIE FOR ISRAEL, YOU CANT BUY ISRAEL !
Atilla Karagözoğlu   (05.20.07)
Israel has money. Israel has smart people. *** SHOW YOUR TRUE COLOR (HEART). GIVE YOURSELF TO ISRAEL, ALL. OR LEAVE. Atilla Karagözoğlu
19. Dont like what he DOING-later be CRYING over YOUR childrens!
Bob ,   Moscow   (05.20.07)
20. "People should not take advantage of the situation
Tracy W   (05.20.07)
to weaken the government." Those are Isaac Herzog's words. Someone should collect all these golden statements, frame them, and distribute them to each Israeli town, village and kibbutz.. This is how your government serves you. You are on your own. And then save those politicians' statements for election time. Better still, save them for posterity, so their political record cannot be embellished in history.
21. good for him
eliezer ,   jerusalem, israel   (05.20.07)
It takes someone who knows the sin of waiting to take action, hopefully Olmert will be forced to do the action that he must do. stupid Israelis
22. Do they hear themselves?
Pinchas ,   Israel   (05.20.07)
The comments coming from the post-zionist leaders are getting 'dumb and dumber'. Their defense is so weak and so stupid, I find it hard to believe they remain in power, and that this country doesn't rid itself of these moron little dictators.
23. this gov't would have condemned Raul Wallenberg too
aaron ,   ra'anana   (05.20.07)
"bah, what can this Raul do? he only has a few diplomatic passports - he's only a nuisance !"
24. Tracy W. #20: People whould not take advantage?
Allen   (05.20.07)
It seems to me if the govenment is highly corrupt, weak and inneffective, people should take advantage of the situation to not only weaken the govenment but to bring the government down. Why not?
25. Better idea [ironic]
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Shomron   (05.20.07)
I have a better idea! Why don't we just simply disange from Sderot as we did from Gush Katif. Land for peace, no?
26. an easy task
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.20.07)
Gaydamak is making the Israeli Government look like a bunch of fools, which, admittedly, is not very difficult
27. go to hell, ministers
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (05.20.07)
Not one of them understands that people in Sderot are DESPERATE.
28. Sheetrit is a MORON and an ASS
MK ,   Philadelphia USA   (05.20.07)
"There is a state of panic, hysteria," Sheetrit added. "I understand these people, but Sderot has bomb shelters. Is the government supposed to prepare the shelters?" Someone needs to explain to this retard, Sheetrit, that the government's job is to PROTECT the people so that they don't have to run into bomb shelters every five minutes. Everyone in this government needs to be unceremoniuously tossed out, shunned in the streets and treated like the idiot traitors they are.
29. Israeli people, wake up or else!
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen   (05.20.07)
It is sickening to read the comments of Israeli government officials in regard to their lack of interest to the suffering of the citizens of Sderot. In contrast, the debacle in the failure of the US govt to deal with the Katrina disaster showed the difference between a flawed, yet workable US govt and the inept and unworkable Israeli govt. In the US, the media rightly excoriated the government for its incompetence and inability to help the victims of Katrina. Private sources, attempting to help the people of New Orleans, Mississippi, etc were not attacked by the govt. They were thanked. Both Democrats and Republicans, Northerners and Southerners rallied to help. In Israel, the plight of the residents of Sderot has elicited a "ho-hum" response from the govt. the media, and many Israelis. Top govt. officials have made outrageous statements accusing the Sderot residents of whining. The media goes around doing business as usual and there are some media writers (including a recent article in Ynet) that declared the situation unsolvable and that fortifications would be too costly. In other words, tough s**t for the people of Sderot. Then, to top it all comes the barrage of criticism aimed at a private individual who is providing a huge sum of money to help the Sderot residents. The arrogance of a the administrations and the despicable MK's (who have don e less than nothing) is so overwhelming that one needs to get some fresh air after thinking about the display of venality and lack of concern for the Israeli population. The fish stinks from the head down. Israelis have to elect real leaders who are interested in solving the problem rather than relying on bureaucratic rules. Otherwise, difficult problems will all become unsolvable.
30. Olmert & company go home.
Avraham ,   Netivot   (05.20.07)
You & your government are nothing more than a bunch of incompetent fools. Gadymak is showing all of you for what you are, useless twits. We want elections now!
