As a resident of Efrat, I would like this story checked out, and if true, the guards should be arrested and charges filed. Were the journalists all registered with the Government Press Office and were they visibly identifiable? Were they in a location where people would not normally be located? Despite the number of offensive (and in my opinion disgusting) talkbacks posted, freedom of the press is an important cornerstone of any democracy and must be protected. If talkbackers don't like to read the material these reporters posted, then fine. However, there is no such thing as "open season" on journalists, and if this story is true, the guards should be prosecuted.

The security fence exists to prevent blood thirsty Palestinian terrorists from entering Israel to kill people. Four armed security guards were on duty to protect the fence. The protesters and reporters knew in advance that guards patrol with weapons. The protesters arrive like lemmings for publicity hoping to provoke a response by the guards or IDF on duty. There have been prior incidents where protesters arrived with weapons in addition to their rock throwing routine and attempted to harm the guards. There were 4 guards and 100+ protesters. The guards shot into the air as a warning for the protesters to back off. No one was hurt. Now the protesters and their accomplices (reporters) still complain even though their mission was accomplished. They got to report on the mean Israeli security guards who scared them away with guns. Look at it this way, the Palestinian reporters can't report on news in Gaza for fear of being kidnapped and they can't report on Sderot for fear of being killed by Palestinian kassams. The fence protest is their safest option.

the so called protester have no buisness being there. they did not apply for a protest permit. they showed up. the security guards are not given the opportunity to a proper security check of the so called protesters. they can be suicide bmbers, they can have a pistol or knife. one has to protect themselves first and then worry about the politcal consquences later. better safe than sorry. remember israelis are not arabs. we dont kill for the hell of it. we are honest god fearing (to differnet degrees) family ppl. we want to work an honest days living and go home to our families. protecting ourselves is not aggression. by equating isralie and arab behavior is not right
