1. The current govern of Israel do not have self respect.
Keren ,   SP-Israel   (05.29.07)
They are going crazy!
2. Not to my taste, but this is Democracy in action
Aharon   (05.29.07)
I'm not gay, and I have my reservations about gay parades in Jerusalem, but I think this is a good idea. We should encourage openess and freedom - that is what sets us apart from our neighbours.
3. Gays are NOT welcome to holy Jerusalem
Aaron ,   HOLY Jerusalem   (05.29.07)
NOT as gays. We are NOT a GLBT friendly city. We are the holiest place on earth; the holiest city in the holiest land. Practicing your abominations elsewhere is bad enough. Here it is unthinkable.
4. Shas! Bring down the government!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (05.29.07)
This is going to alienate the thousands and thousands of Christian Zionist support we have! It will cause us damage! Contact the Ministry of Tourism and tell them to stop this now!!
5. Oh Please!!!
jman ,   il   (05.29.07)
Does the tourism ministry need to have set up pics because you won't find a guy in a kipah srugah with a tattoo like that. the picture is so unnatural. so if your going to lie atleast don't hurt the image of those who oppose this way of life!!!
6. A New Low!!!!
Michael ,   Israel   (05.29.07)
How many times does Eretz Hakodesh,Am Yisrael and Torat Yisrael need to be disgraced by this Secular / Anti Religous Government and it's majority of corrupt and appicorsi Policies!! Why do we have to get to a new and even more disgraceful low!!! Have all our morals, ethics and self respect been thrown out the window!! May Hashem wake up all these "responsible" people before they cause a total moral Jewish decay here!! Forget the economics here Hashem will guide us, and provide us to a good economy, not these sort of Tourists!!
7. Israel is twisting itself to a hell of no return...
Al   (05.29.07)
The "Modern State of Israel" has become a laughing stock in the real Jewish world. Thats what happens when Jews do not follow the spirit of the Torah. The State is doomed!
8. Love, Respect and Tolerance
Jonathan ,   Victoria Australia   (05.29.07)
Love manifects itself even in Jerusalem for everybody. Because people might be different- celebrate their diversity, not their sameness. Jews as a marginalised race of people generally understand tolerance and acceptance. If you dont I suggest you read the Torah again.
9. We are here, We are queer, Get used to it
PinkPop ,   The Hague   (05.29.07)
I don't see the big deal of promoting gay tourism in Israel. Tel Aviv has long been a scene of many gay parties and activities, which are attended my heterosexuals as well.
10. JERUSALEM IS NOT A HOLY CITY!!!
m ,   jerusalem   (05.29.07)
The expression 'holy' in this case is merely an excuse for homophobia and bigotry. Serves Jerusalem right for not allowing the gay pride parade, now Jerusalem is being advertised to all gays in all pride parades everywhere. Religion is not a valid excuse to hate people because of their sexual preference. Just because you have some 'faith' or 'belief' that is offended by other peoples choices does not mean you can stop them from having their democracy and freedom of speech and expression. I'm getting used to the 'torah'-bashers here on ynet talkbacks, their idea of a perfect state of affairs would take us closer to saudi arabia than anywhere else... I live in jerusalem. It is not holy, this is just a delusion of many people who have convinced themselves that a supernatural being cares for them and encourages them to hate others. Welcome gay tourists, some of us here are not bigots or homophobes!
11. #4 ISRAEL DOESNT NEED XTIANS SUPPORT,, ISRAEL NEEDS G'D
ABOMINATION TO G'D ,   IN 'HIS' LAND.....D9   (05.29.07)
12. Don't You People Have More Important Things To Kvetch About?
David ,   Marietta USA   (05.29.07)
Good grief! Gays have been a part of the Jewish scene since Cain slew Able, and David was shtupping Jonathan in the cave at Ein Gedi! Start dealing with it! (And as the old joke goes, "Hey, look at the (two) shmucks on that camel."
13. This is a sad day for the Tourism Ministry
Jerusalem   (05.29.07)
Another reason to bring down the government
14. Aaron: you give them an inadvertent victory
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (05.29.07)
I agree with most of your sentiments. However, they are homosexuals, not merely happy, harmless, lovable, dancing "gays" tiptoeing through some flowers framed by a rainbow. When you accede to call them "gays" you give them a PR and image victory. PS: an Israeli Jewish newspaper not publishing candlelighting times on Yom Shishi is a disgrace to Israel and Jewish readers. 15. LIES LIES LIES
Jew ,   in israel   (05.29.07)
The article states, "I chose sites that represent the country," said Eitan Tal, the campaign's photographer, in Jerusalem the MODELS wore 'yarmulkes' for the religious GLBT crowd. ... --- This is a set up! Religious Jews who practice homosexuality know what they are doing is wrong, and they do not go around kissing eachother in public wearing kippot. Therefore this whole photo is false and the photographer and/or Ministry of Tourism should be brought to court and sued.
16. Not A Very Good Idea.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.29.07)
Promote Gay tourism in Tel Aviv or in Eilat. The gay market is a niche like any other. But Jerusalem? I don't think that gays are the right market. Promoting tourism among Christians & Jews as a religious experience or as a view of history makes more sense. Trying to revive European tourism, Chinese tourism, S. American tourism, all good markets, makes more sense. The gay travel market is certainly important, but perhaps a bit out of place in Jerusalem.
17. Gay tourism
bb ,   Jerusalem   (05.29.07)
Give me a break!
18. A good idea
Paris France   (05.29.07)
When i read some talkbacks which are so aggressives i m very sad. I think that a lot of jews forget than gays were also in Dachau and Auschwich...
19. Jonathon - L. R & T
Michael ,   Israel   (05.29.07)
Jonathon you are right except for one major flaw in your comment!! Yes , lets all read the Torah...over and over again!! Jonathon, do me a favour mate, next time you read it, go to some one with a religious background, like at Y.G. or some other kollel and get them to explain it to you properly, and not what you what to understand or get out of it!!! Certain thing are WRONG, doesn't matter how you read it!!
20. This country is a democracy
Simple Simon   (05.29.07)
Therefore, I will simply pray for those who advocated this campaign to face the wrath of God soon.
21. Coming out of the Aron Kodesh?
Scott Neuman ,   Okemos, MI   (05.29.07)
It seems to me that focusing on Gays to come to Jerusalem using offensive pictures is not service to anyone, including gays. Israel is a democracy, but its only basis for existence is the Torah. The Torah specifically prohibits "gay acts" not gays. So, If Jerusalem wants to promote tourism among gays it should refrain from picutres that allude to "gay acts".
22. How desparate are they getting?
Leo ,   Melbourne   (05.29.07)
what other new lows will they sink to next? Tacky is one word to describe this campaign. But even that is an understatement. It reminds of another campaign in Australia, where the Australian Union of Jewish students launched a campaign handing out condoms in a bid to attract new members on campus. whoever said Jews were smart? So far muslims are winning the war of ideas and on the battle field because they have a thing called faith and self respect...we don't...we just keep decaying and sinking to new all time lows.
23. THis is a hutzpa!
x   (05.29.07)
Never heard about something like this in another country.
24. Jerusalem proudly presents
Ceaser ,   Ariel, Israel   (05.29.07)
This is SICK!!!!
25. re: #12
JewishDragonfly ,   Torrance, CA, USA   (05.29.07)
You have no idea what David and Jonathan were doing. The Bible says NOTHING to say they were sexual partners, and anyone saying otherwise is just plain wrong. (See Rashi on the very in question.)
26. Looks like I will be vacationing in Moscow
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.29.07)
Red Square is cool this time of year.
27. to Jonathan #8
Ezra haGuer ,   Canada   (05.29.07)
"read the Torah again"... ...try Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 !
28. Jerusalem is for all Jews, including gay people
Gidi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.29.07)
And we welcome all tourists in. Homosexuals have been oppressed in the past by the worst regimes, and we as a Jewish state should understand that and allow freedom for gay people too in the Israeli capital.
29. Where is Fear of The Holy One of Israel?
Katharine ,   Jerusalem   (05.29.07)
This is a disgrace to the most Holy City 'on earth. The consequences for INVITING this sort of activity into our city will be CATASTROPHIC in the form of God's judgement being poured out upon us. Read what God did to Sodom and Gomora! Read what He says about sexual relations between two people of the same sex - HE DETESTS IT! Where is FEAR of the MOST HIGH GOD, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL? Lord have mercy upon us and spare this city because of your righteous who dwell here. Do not allow these adverts to be a slur to your Holy Name and free these people from their flagrent SIN.
30. In response to Jonathan
Katharine ,   Jerusalem   (05.29.07)
I humbly suggest that you read those portions of Torah that explain that God made sexual relations to be between a man and his wife, that lists homosexuality as being SIN - sexual immorality, and that says that God detests it. I also suggest that you read how He destroyed Sodoim and Gomorah because of their sexual immorality, and how He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
