4. Who could that statesman be? GILLERMAN.
(06.06.07)
He has the ability to cut stupid people and their mentality down to size. He's a very impressive performer and although doing a great job at the UN. It may be time to ask him to lead.

6. So sorry, but international diplomacy & everyone....
Cameron ,   USA   (06.06.07)
sitting their fat bottoms around a big table for an immensity of chatting will not resolve the reality of Arab Baathist Syria bordering alongside Israel. A real change of regime in Damascus is the best opportunity for a true & lasting solution.
7. Syria and the Golan Heights.
Charles Baker ,   Macon, Georgia, USA   (06.07.07)
Dear Sir: It is reported that Syria has built up extensive arms in the way of missiles whose range would allow them to strike selected tragets any where in present day Israel. If such is the case then the Golan heights are not a deterrent to Syrian attacks. It could be an Israeli move to turn over the Golans Heights to Arab control would gain enough support internationally to lead to the kind of general cease-fire and 'peace' that is the objective of so many. God Bless you. Charlie.
8. A Geography lesson for my fellow Georgian
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (06.10.07)
The Golan ridge overlooks the valley in which Damascus lies. Artillery on the Gollan can hit Damascus in the event of a Syrian attack, and ground forces stationed there can be in the Syrian capital in a matter of hours, so you bet it's a deterrent, while if it were in Syrian hands the Gollan could be used to shell northern Israel and would be very difficult to take due to its elevation, meaning that Syria would have a very good chance to win a war against Israel, and since doing so would make Assad the hero of the Arab world he would gladly take that chance (furthermore Syria's current preparations for war were set off by Israel's defeat in lebanon - a sign of weakness, and if you think another show of weakness is going to make the Syrians make peace you are very wrong. Oh, and by the way even in the extremely unlikely event that you are right and Syria will make peace in return for the Golan, it is still a very high risk and one that doesn't need to be taken, and it's very easy to tell other people to take risks with their country while sitting safely in yours. God bless you too
