31. To Number 18 - You Buffoon
Kerry Anne ,   Saxmundham, UK   (06.07.07)
To number 18, please get your facts right before commenting. The Office for National Statistics said there were 2,833 baby boys called Mohammed in 2006 in the UK. The name is 22nd in the list of most popular boys' names, moving up a place from last year.
32. crying anti-semitism (cont.)
Andrew ,   Israel   (06.07.07)
I thank CK Tan (30), and Zened (28) for their comments. I agree that the interpretation of 'chosen' can and has been mis-represented at times. I also agree that other religions/groups share similar thoughts of themselves. Firstly however, in regards to parallels with China, and other great empires. These places & empires didn't have a 'root' that became (for good or bad) the base for all 3 major mono-theistic faiths, representing well over half of the world's population. The volume and velocity of criticism towards Jews is perhaps just a representation of pure numbers 'following' the Abramaic god (I'm not stating this as fact, but merely just a thought). Yet for all the academic discussion, and semantic debate that could be held about what exactly constitutes anti-semitism, and why... my position is neatly captured by MIRA (26): "cos we [the jews] are the real chosen people and you and your likes are just jealous" ... "AND THATS THE TRUTH! " Mira -- are you upset when I dislike you for having such naive and parochial ideas? Would you again claim 'anti-semitism'? My dislike is not so much for Jews, but for people like you with these ideas -- and I extend that across all religious faiths. It just so happens that Judaism is the base for the other religions with equally ridiculous superiority complexes. We are all people. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Thanks Mira, for illustrating my point. Andrew
33. ANDREW #32- THATS RUBBISH
MIRA ,   BEAR SHEVA   (06.07.07)
IN YOUR ORIGINAL POSTING YOU SAID YOU DISLIKE THE WHOLE OF JEWISH PEOPLE COS THEY CLAIM TO BE CHOSEN. YOU THEN SAID THAT MANY PEOPLE SHARE YOUR VIEW AND HATE JEWS FOR THAT REASON NO MATHER WHAT JEWS DO OR DONT. ITS LIKE A NATURAL DISLIKE. SO BOYCCOTING US IS RIGHT NOT COS WE NEED TO DEFEND OURSELVES BUT COS WE ARE ARROGANT . THATS SO TWISTED. THANKS FOR PROVING OUR POINT THAT IT NEVER MADE ANY SENSE. AND PLEASE CHECK DEEP IN YOUR LITTLE HEART WHY JEWISH CHOSENESS OFFEND YOU MORE THEN ANY OTHER GROUP THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO PUNISH FOR IT.
34. #20 - So why aren't you boycotting
Robert   (06.07.07)
other non-cooperative countries, too many to list them here? For example, why aren't you doing something about Sudan (genocide), China (occupation and cultural genocide of Tibet), Russia (occupation of Chechnya), and so on. Even your own country has political control of other countries in the UK, and territory overseas.
35. #17 Alan - A premonitory dream indeed.
Glenn   (06.07.07)
But anybody willing to open his eyes should see that reality coming. Europeans just don't want to admit it. They are living in the 30s, when it was fashionable to attack the Jews. They don't see the real enemy, already inside the gates.

Andrew: You try to argue well, but at the end of your last post you attribute another Jewish poster's opinion to all Jews. Then you make a sophist logical jump - tada - 'told u so they are all supremicist'. Then you take another sophist leap - as a consequence we can see 'what exactly constitutes anti-semitism', 1) one Jew says something you dont like 2) you attribute this to all jews 3) you say anti-semitism is ok 4) genocide This is why people are saying you are a racist against Jews. An anti-semite. Lol @ all the evolution your genetic code has gone through to end up with you as a goldfish brain.

Nahum ,   USA   (06.08.07)
I've met several pseudo-intellectual anti-Semites like you in my life, and most of them did not consider themselves bigoted even though they were. The problem with people like you is that you justify your bias with some "faults" that you find in the Jews, but the fact of the matter is that your bias/dislike/hatred CAME FIRST, hence your need to justify it. It's obvious to anyone but you.

WHY - EXACT Spelling" of MOHAMMED" is 23rd BUT IS SECOND behind JACK when all the different spellings of the name are taken into account WHO is the BUFFOON ,Kerry Ann? Thats the problem with Goebelism.-SPIN
42. A light unto the nations
Rabbi Micha Sloman ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.08.07)
It seems to me that anti-Semitism will continue until we Jews all learn to put our trust in Hashem and not in the nations or in military might. The Jewish people must understand that our role is to live by the Torah. May almighty G-d heal us and help us to stop copying the ways of the nations. Let us remember that we Jews were appointed by the Creator of the universe to be a nation of priests and prophets, a holy people whose role is to uphold the Torah and thus be a light unto the nations.
43. #42 (Rabbi Micha) well said!! Perhaps you could provide>>
Sarah Davidson ,   Jerusalem   (06.08.07)
readers with further information on Judaism. Thanks, and Shabbat Shalom.
44. #42 - Rabbi
Otter ,   Canada   (06.08.07)
With all due respect, Rabbi Sloman, why should it come to a choice between Hashem and military might? Israelis need both because they live in a nasty world and they have the responsibility, the duty, to protect themselves, whatever it takes. G-d gave us brains to think for ourselves, and trusted us to make decisions. One can follow the Torah and at the same time fight to the end for the right of our children to live and carry on with the Torah's way of life. Surrender is not part of G-d's plan for the Jews.
45. crying anti-semitism (cont. yet again)
Andrew ,   Israel   (06.08.07)
Ummm... I'm sure this forum will drop off now that it's removed from the ynet homepage... But, anyway: Thanks Zened (37), yes... I am making a possibly erroneous logical jump when I attribute Mira's post to MANY jews. Now I don't know for sure... but around 50% of the population here in Israel is considered 'religious', which I'm quite sure means the 3 million people will hold similar views (albeit, not so blatantly ugly as Mira's opinion). Even the secular kids here grow up institutionalised into thinking they're special because they're Jews, with special rules. Even the word 'goyim' has mutated into a common insult used amongst children. But yes, I shouldn't say ALL jews are like Mira. They're definitely not. Your four step plan to genocide, was... well... inspired to say the least (perhaps by your God?). Goldfish? huh? I'm sorry, I've forgotten already what we're arguing. Nahum (38).... "pseudo-intellectual anti-Semites like you" ??? really? well, at least I'm making some attempt to understand your religion, when clearly you have missed a clear fact of your own history: You suggest "[my] bias/dislike/hatred CAME FIRST " Really??? I'm quite certain that it was the Jews who first brought religious bigotry to the world. It's quite well known, and I'm surprised you didn't realise this... (perhaps your Rabbi didn't tell you) but Jews were the first group to create the whole "one god" idea... which brought with it considerable intolerance towards the many gods of the pagans. So, tell me... where did the "bias/dislike/hatred" originate? Oh... Your Rabbi didn't mention this? What a surprise... Andrew.
46. Andrew mudslinging
Stefan ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.09.07)
Andrew, You are simply way off the mark. You can blame the Jews for monotheism, but, please, learn something about the other religions of that time. The ultra poor Jews of Poland and Russia certainly did not not feel that they are privileged, but they kept their religion anyway. When the holocaust came, they were not asked anymore, if they want to keep their religion (it wasn't a religious issue). Certainly they did not consider themselves privileged. Jews have been persecuted for 2000 years now. Mostly for Jesus that Jews did NOT kill. It was the Romans according to the New Testament (and that's a fact). The Romans were never persecuted for that (and still are not). After Europeans (Christians or not) have committed the most horrendous crimes against the Jews for the last 2000 years and still think they can give some moral advice to the Jews, it just makes me sick. There is nothing in the book of decency the Europeans can teach the Jews, NOTHING.
47. #45 - Andrew
Daniel ,   USA   (06.09.07)
What gives you the idea that pagans were tolerant, peace-loving, hippies? They were fierce, violent, intolerant, bloody bastards. It was the Jews that came up with the first civilizing idea, with an abstract deity that was not identified with an artificial object (a carving, for example) or a force of nature. In addition, they gave us the Ten Commandments, which if we truly followed - individually and as nations - would bring peace for all. And Jews haven't persecuted anyone. It's been all the way around. Jews have been the persecuted ones.

I fully agree with you. Europeans playing the 'morally higher' people is one big huge joke.
49. Nothing more than British Anti Semitism
B Wendell ,   Cape Cod, MA   (06.09.07)
In the year 1210 England evicted all Jews from the country, anti-Semitism has been rife, with a few exceptional moments, through all of the countries history. It can therefore be no surprise today that left-leaning academics, which by definition inhabit a world devoid of the rules and norms most of society lives by, would once again assert hatred for Israel and for Jews. Out of bigotry, ignorance and as a result of their mob-behavior, they castigate Israel and laud its sworn enemies under the guise of the Palestinian cause. A cause which began three years prior to Israelis existence as a result of the mass slaughter of Palestinians by Egyptians and Jordanians, Israel should be the model for all its neighbors; it has paved the way for them to follow along a proven path for health, welfare and quality of life for all, including in this the Arab minority within Israel.
50. Anyone for this boycott of Israel is a hypocrite
David ,   Owings Mills, MD   (06.09.07)
Universities are a safe haven for freedom of speech and equal treatment which varies greatly outside the campus. If you want to boycott Israeli Universities because of their country's policies you might as well boycott every University in the world, because every country has messed up policies in one shape or another.
