Jane   (06.08.07)
She said "master" murderers, not "mass" murderers. That having been said, I agree with her about Arafat but, even though I will never forget the Altalena, I simply cannot tolerate Rabin being put in the same category as Arafat.
32. Why you can do this only in the USA ?
(06.08.07)
Without the Jewish loby in the USA you wouldn't even dare to do it .... poor Americans .
33. Self-determination
RJ ,   Canada   (06.08.07)
is actually pretty outdated in our multicultural world. What do you want? PURITY of race, so to speak... Jews only? Of course, I could convert to Judaism and become a Jew and an instant Israeli. So although there are secular Jews (ethnic Jews?) there are also religious Jews and the mixture of the two is kind of unclear to me. We live in a global culture now and countries like Canada are multicultural. Even Europe countries aren't homogeneous any longer. So much for self-determination. Mind you, there are problems in Europe in learning to see each other as human beings. But I think it's time we started learning to get along with each other.... see beyond religion, race, ethnicity. Also self-determination for Israel is fine if it doesn't destroy another people, take their lands and homes and lives. Self-determination and a country at the expense of an innocent indigenous people is WRONG! So join the 21st century and help the world become more friendly, more HUMAN. Teach others, especially your neighbours about being a good neighbour. Unfortunately, fear reduces people's abilities to think clearly or to feel compassion for others. Being in a constant state of fight or flight or freeze results in regressive behaviour in human beings. Tribal feuds are so primitive. So end the barbaric occupation ......
34. #24 - palestinian holy capitol of jerusalem???
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (06.08.07)
Since when did Palestine ever have a capitol? Oh, right... never. Since when was Jerusalem the capitol of anything? Oh, right, when Judea was a Jewish state - and is again. Mohammed literally "turned his back" on Jerusalem when the Jews rejected his message and subsequently faced only Mecca. Jerusalem has had a Jewish majority since the 1860's. Get real!
35. RJ- big huge hole in your argument
Korem ,   New York, USA   (06.08.07)
Israel has been around for 60 years. "Dissolution" is unrealistic and idiotic.
36. no one is thinking straight
orvil ,   nyc   (06.08.07)
this is a rally against the occupation. two states cant happen unless you end the occupation. yeah maybe some people will attend who want one state or are agnostic about it. but it's israel that is making two states impossible by building non-stop in the west bank.
37. to #19 Bravo!
Alan   (06.08.07)
38. to Brian #19 kol hakavod, well done.
Gila ,   Israel   (06.08.07)
39. to #29 you are wrong!
Nina ,   uk   (06.08.07)
if we were "attacking the attackers all the time" as you suggest, we wouldn't be were we are today, we have to fight back, we must fight back, we should say no to the lies, missinformation, and missleading propaganda, no one will do it for us, "eem ein ani li mi li...." have you heard this saying before??? i support it a 100%, and so should every jew who trully cares for Israel.
40. #29 - Jews staying away - Why does it remind me
Otter ,   Canada   (06.08.07)
of the deliberate lack of action by American Jews during the Holocaust years? "Most Palestinians want peace." you say. Yes, they do, only after Israel has been wiped off the map, or in their kindest alternative, turned into a minority in a binational state with an Arab majority. There HAS to be a voice against racism. Staying away from the counter-rally sends a message of cowardice, that Jews can be attacked and slandered without eliciting any reaction.

Doctor J. ,   U.K.   (06.08.07)
I agree;no way can Arafat be remotely compared with Rabin. But what on earth has Rabin got to do with (the sinking of) the Altalena ??!!Please advise.
42. Rally about occupation not dissolution
(06.08.07)
43. To #24, Jalal
Brian ,   Dallas, TX, U.S.A.   (06.08.07)
Jalal your answer is that all the Jews should go back to where they came from. Go back to Europe. Go back to Iraq (yeah right) go back to the UAE, go back to wherever. So you'll find them and kill them there later. Let's get something straight: Jews are not leaving Israel. There is 6.5 million of them in Israel and they are not leaving. You'll need to deal with that somehow, and trying to kill them all is not going to happen (not even if you tried). As for Jerusalem, historical accounts show that Jerusalem was never important to Arab Muslims until it was important to Christians or Jews. And it has always been of extreme importance to Jews. Importance notwithstanding, there was a war, and the Israelis won. Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel, and after 40 years, it's time you should recognize that. It would be as though Christians refused to recognize Istanbul as a Muslim Capital. My suspicion though, is that none of this makes any sense to you. Your solution is a final one. The Jews cannot be in Israel (nor anywhere else). So you will continue to try and kill us, hoping it will pain our leaders in a way that is some kind of sick annoyance, and maybe then we'll all just go away. But we won't. I'm not sorry for that. It's your problem if you hate me for it. And until you come to grips with that reality, we'll fight, but we'll try to be gentle as we have been (we all know the Israelis could have been worse to the Palestinians if that was the intention.)
44. Self-Determination - to RJ
Brian ,   Dallas, TX U.S.A.   (06.08.07)
I can see that you are pretty thoughtful, and I appreciate that. I enjoy having good debate between thoughtful people about very import ant things. and I think it's important that we do debate so that together we may arrive at some truth. Respectfully, you are wrong. Self-determination is not out-dated. Yes, we do live in a very multi-cultural world. Yes, we are all affected by a Global culture. It is the curse (blessing?) of a technological world. But the notion of self-determination is extremely important to Israel. You Most Eastern countries are virtually homogeneous. No one dictates to Japan what their national focus should or shouldn't be. Even with profound Human right problems, China goes virtually unchallenged in its national agenda. You see, those people lead efforts to improve their lives, the best way they think, without the input of anyone else. That is self-determination, and they have it. Israel is always second-guessed, always examined on the world magnifying glass. Perhaps it's because they hold the birth place and birth pieces of Western morality and Western religion, and the West, as we know, holds a special place in this world. Israel is NOT homogeneous. It is a democracy with people of all creeds and ethnic background, political viewpoints. It's not the easiest way to live but it is good, and it's better than any Arab neighbor has shown in the past 200 years. Every citizen has a voice. Your claim that the Palestinians are an indigenous people is simply inaccurate. You and I here cannot agree on the evidence that would invalidate your point, so I will not push it, but it's important that I get that out there. As for 'Occupation', Israel has made, over and over again, attempt after attempt to appease the Palestinian cause and nothing pleases them. Your buddy Jalal puts it succinctly, they just want us to go away, and that's not going to happen. So until the Palestinians step up and find non-violent ways to protest, we are at a stalemate.
45. JC drops the ball........
NS ,   Long Island, NY   (06.08.07)
The Jewish Community of North America drops the ball again. Why weren't the various communities in the USA and Canada alerted to this demonstration? Why are certain groups scambling to get out people for a counter demonstration? Why is everything the Jewish community does last minute? What is wrong with us as a community? That should be the discussion on this talkback.
46. some seem to forget
marie ,   usa   (06.09.07)
There are arabs living in "Israel" and they have democratic rights, more rights than they would have from most Islamic countries. Non-muslims that surrender to Islam have no rights and must pay the "second-class" citizen dhimmi tax. There are no rights for non-muslims to hold governmental positions in "Islamic" run countries. This is why Islam and the West can't work. It's like trying to mix oil and water. Non-muslims are to "submit" to Islam to have peace. You too can have peace if you "submit" and allow yourself to be a second-class citizen with no democratic rights. Where are the Islamic run countries that have Jews & Christians in their governments? Considering what Quran says about Jews& Christians, no one should be suprised one bit. Followers of Islam, it is high time, you GET WHAT YOU GIVE! Taste your own medicine then complain its others fault? You reap what you sow. Islam and Democracies don't mix. Same as communism/socialism wont mix with a free country that tries to bring out the best in their citizens rather than dominate and control them.

kaz ,   ireland   (06.09.07)
i dont understand why you insist on calling the state of Israel an "occupation" since it has been recognized as a nation state by most of the world including both the USA and the USSR during the cold war. get over it already the state is there and it will not go away! as for no 26 i never realised that self governance and freedom of speech was regarded as brutal! Good luck StandWithUs!!!!!!

Quote ..." the way Israel controls the lives of Palestinians, the Israeli-only roads, the checkpoints, the collective punishments? " ---Apparently on going suicide bombings in malls ,buses ,market places , ... Kasam rockets slaming into Jewish villages ....snipers shooting at citizens ... Mean nothing to you. If tomorrow all militant groups in israel were to do a turn about for true peace you would find that within 5 years most of the checkpoints gone and palistinian and Jews would be traveling the same road .... But since it is writtin ti the charter of all the militant organizations that nothing less than full evictions of jews from palistien...I seriousy doubt they are interested in a true peace.... nobody in this so called "israel disolution Rally" would give any credit to the efforts of Omert to give back land for peace...they only view it as weakness and and encourgement to demand more concessions to the extent of removal of israel from the mideast... But guess what ..? .Psalms 83 says it all !
50. History shows those nations thatattackJews are judged by God
Rebecca Kmet ,   California   (06.10.07)
What happened to the Tzars of Russia who terrorized Jews with pogroms? The tzars were overthrown and tens of millions died in the decades following when power that King David said belongs to God was taken from the Tzars. What happened to the Nazis of Germany who slaughtered Jews? God took their power away and divided Germany for many years. These are just two recent examples in history of judgment from God for persecution of Jews. America is being judged, too. According to prophecy, Israel will still be a nation after America. The notable horn that breaks has to be America not Alexander the Great since Greece was not the westernmost nation described. America will pass away and become four countries because the restraining hand of God against enemies will be lifted if the persecution of God's people continues.

52. Narrow religious views
(06.10.07)
on part of Jews and Muslims and Christians are bringing destruction to our world. The literalists of all three religions of Abraham have a vindictive, wrathful god, a reflection of a vindictive, wrathful people. Each feels in some way that they are special and that THEIR god will save them. At least the more evolved versions focus on a god of love, a reflection of a more compassionate people than the fundamentalists. God bless Richard Dawkins for exposing the roots of evil in these religions. Too bad human beings are such slow learners..... still so immature....
53. Re:52. Narrow religious views
Roy Galut ,   Selah Washington USA   (06.10.07)
Time will tell whether we were slow learners and imature or whether the prophets of old Shared the correct future history of the mid-east...cast your lots now and hope you are right.... Wisdom would dictate one should check it out.... Certianly God appears to be harsh in the old testament -He was grooming a people to be self-disciplined enough to survive through the melinium to be kings and priest that would assist in governing christ kingdom after he returns.... many of the peoples that ancient Israel routed particpated in burnt sacafices of children to the God Moloch and many other perferted cerimonies....the land had to be cleansed of these type of societies so that the jews could form a system that would be constructive and loving... . the jews and many of the rest of us have failed in keeping Gods comandments... the ten comandments were not ten suggestions ...if you follow them they will ultimately culimate in loving God and each other so that there will be a need to have war.... take time to look at each commandment to see if this is true Christ did not do away with the comandments...even the one on keeping the sabbath holy...and that does not mean sunday.... there is more ...but for now that is enough to chew on
54. It is wrong for Israel
RJ ,   Canada   (06.10.07)
to control the lives of Palestinians. Palestinians deserve self-determination too. They also deserve a peace partner who really wants peace. The actions of the state of Israel convey a contrary message, one that suggests they want extermination and/or expulsion of the Palestinians from what some Israelis call THEIR land (I've read some extremist feedbacks which accuse Palestinians of occupying Israeli land - what Chuzpah!) What is the moral and just thing to do to a people who were forced to give up their homes, their land for the creation of Israel? The Palestinians weren't murdering the Jews in Europe. Why should they be expected to pay for the crimes of the Gentiles? When will the Palestinians get justice? So now the cries of the holocaust victims are joined by the cries of the wronged Palestinians ...... What a sad state of affairs....

59. history and current state of affairs
RJ ,   Canada   (06.11.07)
Guess I read different history from what you folks are reading. What's happened is over and can be studied till we're blue in the face without anyone coming to any firm agreement. HOWEVER, the current attitude towards Palestinians is disturbing. The use of collective punishments is VILE, IMMORAL. But what is equally or more disturbing are the comments and "satanic proposals" (Gideon Levy) presented by powerful "respected" people on how best to deal with Gaza. The words of prominent Israelis amount to racism, even genocide: Ram Caspi, poet Ilan Scheinfeld, Rafi Eitan, Rabbi Eliahu, Yuval Diskin, Amiram Levin, Yosef Lapid, and so on. And as Gideon Levy remarks, not one of them has been castigated. Racism and bullying are alive and well in Israel...... and in these feedbacks.
60. RE: 59. history and current state of affairs

Quote :HOWEVER, the current attitude towards Palestinians is disturbing. ================ If there were a real interest on the part of the palistinians to cease rocket fire ,sucide bombing and recognize israels right to exist ...80% of that atitude would heal within a few short years....
