2. Olmert - a joke
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.08.07)
I and many others, Straight, Gay and Bi, don't think that Olmert is suitable to be Prime Minister! Resign!
3. moral sense
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (06.08.07)
if they want to demonstrate like normal people wearing normal clothes they have the same right to do so as anyone else. This kind of thing is offensive and it would be just as offensive if heteros went around in a half-nude, icky, weird-looking "parade" like this. If you can't acknowledge this you're a moron or a coward.
4. the turnout
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (06.08.07)
I notice the turnout wasn't enormous. I'm sure many gay people have too much dignity and good sense to go to idiocies like this. Its supporters are the more pathological gays and the with-it heteros who think they have to support every politically correct cause.
5. Dress Sense
Paul ,   London England   (06.08.07)
Those who do not share your dress sense are "offensive", eh, Robert? Good grief, man, are you devoid of all common sense and have not even a spark of humour or tolerance within you?
6. Maybe 100 - 200 Weirdos were there not 3000
Hary   (06.08.07)
7. What? I missed the parade?
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.08.07)
3000 people? That's it??? All that jumping up and down over 3000 people?? There are whole bunches that haven't come out of the closet, yet. Wait until next year and the years after next!!Poor Marie Antoinette! That girdle remark is pretty funny, although I didn't know they still made those torture devices. Since, hopefully, nobody got killed, here's joke, told to me by a gay friend: The Pope was finishing his sermon. He ended it with the Latin phrase, "Benedicto tuti homini" or blessed be all mankind. A women's rights group approached the Pope the next day. They pointed out that the Pope blessed all Mankind, but not Womankind. The next day, after His sermon, the Pope concluded by saying, "Tuti Homini, et Tuti Femini" - Blessed be Mankind and Womankind. The next day, a gay-rights group approached the Pope. They said that they noted that he blessed Mankind and Womankind, and asked if he could also bless gay people. The next day, the Pope concluded his sermon with, "Tuti Homini, et Tuti Femini, et Tuti Fruiti. In the meantime and while some of you are getting bent out of shape over a few gays, Mr. Olmert is trying to give away the Golan!!! Again, I'm not Jewish, I don't live there, and it's none of my business, but if I were and did, I'd be going totally berserk over that one.
8. Worthy news item?
Marcell ,   Israel   (06.08.07)
Things must be going well in the Middle East, if this is all Ynet can find to report to us. Zzzzzzzz . . . .

11. Isaiah 1:18
Sheikh yer Bu'Tay   (06.08.07)
"Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword." For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
12. your pride is parading; why all the fuss?

13. Question for RobertK
English guy ,   London, UK   (06.08.07)
Do the people you term "pathological gays" have any psychological resembles to "pathological Jews"? That is, is it alright as gays to demonstrate, as you put it, wearing normal clothes but not in "pathological clothing"? And if so, is it alright for Israeli Jews to walk around in normal clothing but not in pathological shtreimels? You see the point is - when YOU decide where normalcy lies, other people also have the right to decide where their sense of normalcy resides. Jewish history is full of moronic anti-Semites deciding that Jewish behaviour is unacceptable, and now you are repeating this yourself. As for "many gay people having too much dignity" to go to "idiocies" like this, perhaps you are talking abuot the gay people who are terrified to express themselves. In which case, your idea of "dignity" is oppression. Not very clever or very humane of you.
14. To RobertK
Normativistit ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.08.07)
No question, once we start allowing "icky" and "weird-looking" then the collapse of our society cannot possibly be far behind. Of course, the overwhelming majority of the country probably thinks that Charedim are "icky" and "weird-looking", but that is of no importance, as their views aren't the ones that count. Right?
15. To #13 and 14: Very good points!
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.08.07)
16. Disgusting!
Avraham ,   Netivot   (06.08.07)
17. "Pride"
Abir ,   Chicago, IL USA   (06.08.07)
What exactly are they proud of ??? If they choose to follow a particular inclination, why turn that into everyone else's problem? I don't see "straight" folk parading.....! What exactly is the purpose of this parade?
18. M. Hartley (7)
sk ,   USA   (06.08.07)
Hi M. I think the figure was 15,000. Chances are that Ynet got the number wrong and has since corrected it. You are consistently funny. Are you sure you aren't Jewish?
19. Uh-Oh! Darren (10) makes STUPID ARGUMENT #3!
sk ,   USA   (06.08.07)
Please refer to #98 on http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3294083,00.html
20. 15,000 or 3,000???
Rick ,   Bmore, USA   (06.08.07)
That is a rather large discrepence. How many were actually there to participate and NOT to protest? To Tel Aviv: Have you all no shame? Hide your dirty laundry.
21. to my critics
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (06.08.07)
I am not a fan of ultra-Orthodox attire or lifestyle and think it's pathological. Although I'm not thrilled either about the demonstrations that they hold and the sentiments they express, it's not the same as parading down the street in bedroom clothing and exhibiting semi-sexual behavior, like sexual petting on bare skin, publicly. Let me ask you something. if you're sitting in a restaurant, do you think it would be OK for two people to jump down on the floor and start having sex--or is that a social norm we should keep?--no sex in restaurants? If you don't think it's OK, I can ask you the same questions--hmmm, not Ok, who's to say what's OK, next thing they'll be saying you can't go out in a T-shirt and shorts. But of course every society does have behavioral norms and makes distinctions between public and private, and gay pride parades transgress these important limits in public in ways that ultra-Orthodox Jews do not.
22. by the way
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (06.08.07)
if you look at my posts, nos. 3 and 4, you see that I do not say that these parades should be illegal or banned by the state. I say that they're icky, offensive, undignified, and pathological.
23. What garbage..Parading about like wack Jobs
Al   (06.08.07)
Get a room and f*** yourselves to death.
24. and the results are????
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens, NY, USA   (06.08.07)
Well, now the parade is over and Israel is still standing. All that yelling and protesting agauinst the parade was a waste of time and effort. Perhaps a better use of the time would be physical training to fight Israel's REAL enemies. Or are you too busy sitting on your fat keister's 'studying'?
25. Now it's 15,000? No problem.
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.08.07)
Ok, ynet, change the # in my as yet posted tb to 15,000, please.
26. To #10 :-)
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.08.07)
Go to any mall on a Saturday afternoon, plunk yourself on a bench, and there is your straight parade in all its glory. I'd almost be willing to bet that the gay Marie Antoinette's get-up wasn't as bad as what some people pass off as normal. At least, he had enough compassion for the spectators to wear a girdle.
27. You can strut your rebellion before Hashem for only so long.
rachel ,   migdal, Israel   (06.08.07)
While Hashem is a longsuffering, merciful, and a loving G-D, once he has declared something to be an abomination to him, he automatically judges that act. And sooner or later there will be those who run up against that judgement. Notice, they chose to run up against it. These kinds of acts bring judgement on a nation, it's people, and it's leaders. When we obey Hashem and his word, we operate under the covenant of blessing, and when we dis-obey his word and chose not to repent, operate under the curse of the covenant. Those blessings and curses are in effect forever. We should be parading to get morality back in Israel, wicked and inept leaders out of office, and raise our hands unashamedly as Jews and tell Hashem that he and he alone is G-D over Israel.
