2. Stupidity,naivity and shortsight
erik ,   holon   (06.19.07)
It is not enough Oslo Mirage .Listnenwhat other side is saying.Only reciprocity works.Where is Any commitment from the other side?? Don't be naive and stupid as before.
3. the only problem with this is...
josephus ,   rome   (06.19.07)
the only problem with this is I am not convinced that Fatah is totally divorced from Hamas. What abt the Fatah Al Aska Martyr Brigades? Didnt we cheer them on when they were being slaughtered (and slaughtering) Hamas? Why are they all the sudden our friends? the situation seems a bit more complicated than an Ivory Tower Social Science Lab Experiment.
4. IS THIS IDIOT PROFESSOR ? UNBELIEVABLE. FATAH IS TERROR !!!
(06.19.07)
5. Fools, How quick they forget !
freejay ,   Israel   (06.19.07)
12/1/2007 Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday called on Palestinians to refrain from internal fighting and to direct their guns only against Israeli "occupation." (Abbas, speaking during a rally marking the 42nd anniversary of the founding of his Fatah party)
6. Need to quit this mentality blaming the Jews
Steve ,   USA   (06.19.07)
B"H Taking the Jews out of Gaza emboldened Hamas and led to its rise there. Taking them out of Gaza resulted in Fatah's collapse. So why on earth would you want the Jews out of Israel's territory, anywhere? Keeping security means keeping the Jews. Certaiinly Abbas should be as willing if not more willing to keep the Jews than Syria living there, for his own good. The bigots focus their attention on the Jews leaving Abbas more time and resources to focus on Hamas which is seaking to overthrow him first even before Israel. The Jews are no threat to Abbas. Hamas on the other hand needs to receive more priority and needs to be dealt with for Abbas to survive, and he should keep the focus on that point instead.
7. be careful, your map leads to a dead end (dead wrong)
jack bauer ,   usa   (06.19.07)
why do idiots get to dream this nonsense up? The roadmap to nowhere will bring only more death and destruction
8. Having seen Left's wonderful results in Gaza...
Ignacio ,   Zaragoza, Spain   (06.19.07)
The world must look to Gaza and Lebanon, no to peace processes made of PR paid by petrodollars.
9. Saudi peace plan in action
Al ,   LA, USA   (06.19.07)
A few months ago Arabs met in saudi Arabia. Saudis supported Hamas, and Hamas implemented the first part of the deal. It is only the matter of time for Hamas to kill Abbas and replace him on the East of Israel. Why I think so? Because all Arabs want this. egypt supports Hamas with weapons, and the silly idea that Egypt will fight for Israel is old and very stupid. Neither egypt or saudi arabia will defend Israel because they want to destroy Israel.
10. The left wins again
Mordechai   (06.19.07)
Amazing no matter how the lefts policies fail in practice they can still promote their ideas as the key to peace. What will happen when the next PA election occurs and Hamas wins again in the West Bank? Fateh's website still calls for Israels destruction. Fatahs Al Aqsa brigades still attack Jews. The only difference between the killers are if they wear a beard. Either way Jews die.
11. The opportunity Ze'evi speaks of
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (06.19.07)
Is the opportunity to make Fatah look like a peaceful neigbor by comparing it to Fatah. Hey, why don't you go find some neo-nazis and pay them to conquer Gaza. Hamas would look like angels next to them, and you can go ahead and negotiate with them to.
12. darkness at noon
avi ,   ny   (06.19.07)
The idiocy expressed here reminds me of Darkness at noon.
13. Rubbish
sk ,   USA   (06.19.07)
Leaving aside the current overlap in membership between Fatah and Hamas, before Hamas had much power, Fatah was leading the killing of Jews. Neither "intifada" was led by Hamas, but by Arafat the Egyptian. I would at least expect a so-called professional to understand that Muzzies are instructed to lie to infidels. Anything that Fatah would say would mean precisely nothing.
14. This kind of thinking is the blind leading the blind.
jan ,   usa   (06.19.07)
15. 6 Hey professor, didnt you learn in school.
freedom ,   canada   (06.19.07)
That talk is cheap, actions mean a lot. This is the same drivel we have heard for many years. Chance after chance after chance. Give it up, the ball has been in the Palestinian court for many years now. I can only assume that the majority are not interested in a meaningful life as they would rather live under terrorist rule and corrupt rule. And its not like one can learn from other countries in the world in terms of how to have a productive society. Write it off. Set the boundaries and thats it. Let the Arab league fund the palestinian state. Enough is enough.
16. What has PA done on West Bank to deserve this faith?
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (06.19.07)
Has Abbas done anything to dismantle Fatah's "military wing", the terrorist Martyrs Brigades? Has he done anything to eliminate the incitement to hatred and murder broadcast on PA radio and television? Has he done anything to root out corruption and establish the rule of law? Has he arrested and prosecuted those who would, absent the checkpoints, bring death and destruction to Israeli citizens? Wishful thinking aside, I don't see that he's done anything to merit this author's support - or Israel's for that matter.
17. Another Road Map? Easy with Google Earth!
enzo ,   london,uk   (06.19.07)
18. Good intentions leading nowhere
The Historian ,   Israel   (06.19.07)
This article makes alot of sense except for the fact that in dealing with the Palestinians nothing ever comes out the way it should. The problem is alot bigger than Israeli chahmologia can handle and you nearly always get the opposite result for your actions. For example - liberating Judea, Samaria, Gaza and the Golan Heights resulted in peace and quiet for years but Israeli capitulation has resulted in the secular terror of the Fatah and even worse Islamic terror by the Hamas and Hizbollah. The harder we try to make peace - the worse the result . Go figure.
19. If the arabs were to force israel into the sea
izzy d   (06.19.07)
the consensus at YNET would be "this is a golden opportunity to show the world that israel is interested in peaceful relations and amicable dialog with the arabs, let us prove our willingness to compromise and JUMP""
20. Get your facts straight
Susie ,   Israel   (06.19.07)
1. You got the leaders of Gaza and the West Bank the wrong way round. Abbas is in Gaza NOT the West Bank. 2. There are NO two entities. It is the same wolf in different clothe. One group of murderers wear Armani suits and hide their weaponary and the other group of murderers sport the latest in balaclavas and openly display their weaponary.
21. YNET talkbackers
Michael ,   Haifa   (06.19.07)
Who needs Hamas with so many poisonous talkbackers here ?
22. It's stupid to take sides in a foreign civil war
Ruth Bracha ,   Beer Sheva, IL   (06.19.07)
and the stupidity can only be topped by choosing the losing side. BGU is well known for being wall-to wall staffed with left-wing academics not tainted by any insight into reality.
23. Appropriate conclusions?
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.19.07)
The only appropriate conclusion is that every gesture made by our corrupt leaders and the world security entity, has been a disaster. Israelis instead of demanding removal of its' enemies has taken the route of the British which established illegitimate Moslem states throughout the Middle East, mistakes which it is now trying to fix. Abbas deserves our scorn, not our support. Abbas had every opportunity before, to eliminate Hamas, and used them as other Arab entities to provoke the Jewish State. Olmert and company are guilty of continued anti-Jewish behavior which leads to Israeli deaths, and unnatural, dangerous political results.
24. The concept of the PA must be buried and forgotten.
Uzi ,   Haifa   (06.19.07)
It was conceived in sin, it has never been viable, it was stillborn and now it's decomposing. There has never been a distinct nation of Western Palestine Arabs who are an artificial sub-set of Greater Palestine Arabs. The only viable nation state of all Greater Palestine Arabs is the Kingdom of Jordan. Israel and Jordan should agree on the border between them in Judea and Samaria and, perhaps, cede Gaza to Egypt.
25. Thus spake the pali druggie #21

26. When I see Fatah quit-claim on Jerusalem & Right of Return
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (06.19.07)
Then there can be an opportunity. Not until. These and similar obstacles didn't magically disappear with the Hamas-Fatah civil war. Rather, the prof conveniently swept them under the rug in order to sway the gullible public to support the zero-potential Leftist, and Olmert, agenda. Bring them back out into the light, as they will inevitably be, and that great Olmert opportunity is exposed for yet another hopeless and foolish miscalculation. Carrots yes, along with the stick for Hamas. But the 'Great Opportunity'? What a laugher on the naive Leftist freierim! PS: the most popular Israeli Jewish newspaper not publishing candlelighting times on Yom Shishi in its on-line counterpart is a disgrace to Israel and Jewish readers. Even ha-Aretz publishes candlelighting times on Yom Shishi. Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming Jews & non-Jews www.netzarim.co.il
