Since Oslo 1, Israel has been involved with discussions about creating a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River., including the Strip. Olmert recently supported this vision, with G. Bush. But, some things have changed. Israel is out of Gaza, but still has it's fingers in it's control. Hamas is in, Fatah is out, and Fatah is in. So what to do given the changes? Nothing, and keep the status quo. Something, with caution, and maybe bring some peace to the M.E. With Abbas, the double talker, there can be a peace of sorts. W/O Abbas, and Hamas, there will be more violence and maybe war? With US, EU and UN support, there can be a viable W. Bank mini state, allowing for some refugees to return. Maybe a few Arab neighborhoods in Jerusalem to boot as a sweetener. Fatah will have to stop the violence, brigades and all. Or, these people can continue killing one another indefinitely. When Iran gets the bomb, everything will change anyway. It claims to support the PAL cause..well....

Jordan exists. The Palestinian exist to the entire planet. Israel should not exist according to 1.5b Muslims, the entire Arab world. and many parts of the remainder. Even some in the US are debating Israels' existence as a Jewish state or state of the Jews. The White Paper was British, and doomed 6m Jews to death. Now Britain boycotts Israel (arms-academia, etc.). France is anti-Semitic. Should Israel dismiss them, ignore them? Let's be practical. Hamas shot itself in the head. Fatah can be tamed if in it's interests (a state). This is their chance. Israel still can wipe out the entire W. Bank in one hour..and the Strip in 10 minutes. Remember, Israel has the nukes (tactical), tanks, planes, artillery, rockets, subs, missile shops. What it needs however, is guts.

There can only be peace between peaceable democracies. Name me a war between two democracies. Name me a truly peace-loving dictatorship.

What would it take for you to understand that the "Palestinians" want to kill you, and, indeed, that Islam is doctrinally incapable of true peace with "infidels"? There is therefore no "peace process" but only a "truce process" until the Muslims think they can win. How many decades will it be before you learn something about the religion of those who use religious justification for killing or subjugating you? Have you never read anything by Bat Ye'or? Spencer?
