1. I've seen the same cartoons
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (06.18.07)
On Shinui campaign ads.
2. I don't know
David ,   California   (06.18.07)
Doesn't strike me as too Anti-Semitic, really. I'm certainly a Jew who's laughing over these animals killing each other. And if the Arabs think Israel can pull this off by itself, so much the better.
3. Dont let UK Media see these -they'll syndicate them
Alan ,   SA   (06.18.07)
They like the sort which they have already published showing AriK Sharon eating Arab Babies
4. figures
Jon ,   Lockport, NY   (06.18.07)
If UFO's landed on the white house front lawn they would believes the Jews are behind it!!!
5. Some may be antisemitic, but not all
David ,   Los Angeles   (06.18.07)
I don't see anything antisemitic in some of these cartoons. And all one has to do is read the talkbacks on ynetnews to see PLENTY of Israelis and Jews gloating over the Palestinians killing each other. A hook-nosed hasid is no more racist as shorthand for a Jew than a hook-nosed guy in a keffiyeh is for an Arab, unless the Jew is doing something stereotypically antisemitic (e.g. stealing cash while acting as puppeteer for Communism, Capitalism and the world financial system, media etc). And I don't see th problem with the Bahrain cartoon (although I don;t know what the Arabic says). It doesn't even have the hasid caricature. It seems to me these cartoons are just very hostile and unpleasant, which is NOT the same as antisemitic.
6. I find them very flattering. Just enjoy. That”s it.
Mark ,   Haifa   (06.19.07)
7. Ay-rabbs have big noses too....
josephus ,   rome   (06.19.07)
I dont know what the Adds are saying, but more than one Jew (myself included) has been gloating at least a littel bit over this, and that is not necesarrily a bad thing. I think despite the blame game, most arabs know what is really going on regarding this conflict. And obviously, Israel, though arguably, can benefit from this. I dont know how that is anti-semetic.
8. David
hilary ,   israel   (06.18.07)
To David "there are none so blind as those who cannot see."
9. Sorry, David (5), but you're just wrong
sk ,   USA   (06.19.07)
The fact is that the pictures wildly anti-Semitic for the simple reason that the Haredim are too busy breeding and begging for money and burning trash cans to be killing those poor "Palestinians." Accurate cartoons would emphasize the secular Jews, not the clown suited ones. The cartoons target Judaism precisely, and not Israel per se.
10. Oh, and a P.S., David (5)
sk ,   USA   (06.19.07)
I am, personally, pleased to gloat at one Islamic fascist killing another. The Allies didn't win WW2 by empathizing with the Axis--and surely this fight is worth winning.
11. to SK 9
josephus ,   rome   (06.19.07)
I like your logic, but I might also point out that religious Jews have been clammoring for the west bank, though not the zoot-suited ones. That brings Judaism into the equation and makes it fair game as an expansive ideology (albeitly limit4ed to a small area), the same way Islam is a religion but also fairly associated with terror and imperialism. Ultimately whether a stereotype gets under your skin depends upon not on the oppressor, but how secure you are with your identity. I am secure enough with being Jewish without being offended by the toons, and I think you are too terribly offended either. Perhaps the cartoons are antisemtic, or not, but I doubt they are very harmful. I have seen much much worse.
12. To David
Peter ,   Toronto, Canada   (06.19.07)
David, this is merely a sample. It is anti semitic to suggest that Jews revel in the pain of Palestinians generally for one. Secondly, it is certainly anti semitic to attempt to hold Jews as responsible for infighting in Gaza. Does Israel profit from this discord? Potentially, if they are fighting each other there is less time to bomb Israel. Did we cause it or delight in it? Nobody delights in innocent blood spilled. Now dying hamas members ...thats a delight.
13. Antisemetic cartoons = funny. Muhammad cartoons = riots.
Tahl ,   Israel   (06.19.07)
Arab logic: It is ok to publish blatant anti-semitic cartoons depicting despicable, hooked-nosed Haredi Jews gloating over a war they secretly conspired. Or Israeli prime ministers wearing SS uniform with swasticas. Or Anna Frank in bed with Hitler. All this is ok and understandable, and what can the Jews do about it? At best, issue some reserved statements from the ADL. Jews are used to swallow such baseless accusations and remain quiet. But if you'd show a cartoon with Muhammad wearing an explosive belt, to demonstrate the violence inherent in Islam - then it's not ok, it would cause massive, violent riots worldwide (which only prove the very truth behind the cartoons...)
14. amusing that none depict
izzy d   (06.19.07)
arabs actually killing each other. and the cartoons are not suggesting that the jews are gloating but that they are actively engineering the 'struggle". and sk, how do you cartoon a secular jew? with a little sign that says "i only believe in g od when i am on my deathbed" ?
15. Is It Any Accident...
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (06.19.07)
...that Arab society lags Western countries such as Israel, Norway, Japan? It's a shame they spend their time blaming us for their failures in economics, governance, morality, war, hatred, and bowling. Name one great Arab bowler? One
16. antisemitic?
Anthony ,   London   (06.19.07)
Not all of these are really antisemitic. That one about a dead Hamas and Fatah in 2nd place to the Jew is not entirely wrong. I don't think Israel benefits from the fighting between Palestinians, but certainly it is the Palestinians who are losing out most from this insanity. There is a certain sense of schadenfreude among us Jews when the Palestinians fight like this - that's only natural, given how when they're not at each others' throats they're plotting to kill us. That doesn't make it right (or wise). It does give their cartoonists fair licence to criticise. And let's be clear - these cartoons are not at all sympathetic to Hamas to Fatah either!
17. seriously, what did you expect? to not get blamed this time?
jack bauer ,   usa   (06.19.07)
18. Condolezza Rice is antisemitic...
oscar ,   buenos aires   (06.19.07)
"Secretary of State Rice says lifting of economic sanctions stems from Abbas’ decision to dissolve Hamas-led government" (www.ynetnews.com)
19. Many Israeli editorials say the same
josef cohen ,   herzliya   (06.19.07)
I don't need to see these cartoons I can find the same rubbish in all to many Israeli publications. Many left wing Israeli editorials say the same crap how Israel, ie the Jews, manipulated everything to bring about this exact result . Just look thru Haaretz or Ynet and you will see many articles blaming Israel and the US for the current Hamas rise in Aza. For consideration,
20. Silly Replies
David ,   Los Angeles   (06.19.07)
Like I said, a hook-nosed Jew is no more antisemitic than a hook-nosed Arab is racist. Perhaps they both are. If they are, not all these "antisemitic" cartoons contain these images anyway. What makes the one from Bahrain antisemitic? As for Tahl #13 - you accuse the Arabs of trying to have it both ways, but you're trying to have it both ways yourself. What's your view? Is it OK to show Muhammed with an explosive belt? If so, then presumably it's also OK to show hasidim doing something bad too., no? Either that or they should both be banned. Anyway, I thought the picture of an Israeli Prime Minister dressed as a Nazi was at a Likud rally, shortly before that Prime Minister was murdered by an Israeli Rightist... It is highly ironic that when it suits us, we want to say that supporting Israel is an important part of Jewish identity and any attack on Israel is an attack on us etc. But when it suits us now, we're trying to say that it's antisemitic to use a "shorthand" for Jews when the target is Israel. Like SK.
21. I guess Mossad is more powerful than we all thought hahaha
RA   (06.19.07)
They give Israel too much credit, really.
22. Wow! josephus actually wrote a TB to me! ;-)
sk ,   USA   (06.19.07)
As you guessed, I was not too offended by the cartoons, largely because I assume that most Muslims would prefer Jews dead or subjugated, so the cartoons are hardly shocking. I don't think these cartoons are very harmful, but that is because the Muslims are so intensely anti-Semitic that the toons don't even register. Some Jews just need to be loved by "the other," I guess, and they get all hurt when cats meow.
23. An answer for izzy d (14)
sk ,   USA   (06.19.07)
How does one cartoon a secular Jew? Well, when Sharon was given fangs dripping blood, I'd say that would qualify.
24. Cartoons
Bill ,   Gold Canyon, Arizona   (06.19.07)
Who cares what kind of foolishness these people put out?
25. The cartoons are anti-Arab
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (06.19.07)
The cartoons reflect an Arab world that is easily manipulated by outsiders into killing each other. Seems like they are calling themselves stupid.
26. Standard operating procedure
Hiram ,   tel-aviv   (06.19.07)
Anti-semitic propaganda is something the Arabs have always shared with the Nazis, including in the time of the British mandate. Nothing new in this field. What is interesting overall is that indeed, Israel has de-facto engineered the fighting by staying put and not meddling in Palestinian internal affairs. The ultimate target ( Isolating the gangsters from Hamas ) has been fully reached simply due to the sheer stupidity of Ismael himself and his thirst for power ! Worth a couple of anti-semitic drawings no ?
27. Everyone Riot!!!!!
Leor ,   TA, Israel   (06.19.07)
Quick, gather all your holy brethern in the name of god and grab all the stones you can and throw them at the UN and EU establishments in your countries, then lynch the writters. 28. arabs
(06.19.07)

29. Arabs are the most hateful people in the world.
Plaestiniansareamyth ,   USA   (06.19.07)
Their soul is black because of their vitriolic hatred.
30. #13, Its different.
Omar   (06.19.07)
First of all those cartoons are anti-israeli, not Anti-Semetic. cartoons are not insult a religion, definetly not their biggest iconic religious person. When I do anti-american or anti-israeli or anti-arab cartoons like has always been around the newspapers, no body raised an eyebrow, until when it came to a religion represented by muhammad.
