'Don't worry, mom, I'm going to heaven'    Dorit Siton
1. This kind of thing has worked in other countries
In Australia, a few years ago, they had a series of very graphic and shocking clips showing the effects of drunk driving. It was quite distressing to watch and upset a lot of people. But it was an unqualified success: the incidence of drunk driving in Australia went right down and stayed down. So maybe this could help too...

4. In Really Bad Taste.
Imaginative, certainly. But, not an appropriate format for Israelis. While the message is certainly true, & it's association with another form of drug (as Karl Marx so aptly described it) equally destructive, it's really, really in poor taste.

5. Step by Step
Israeli parents should be less permissive at an earlier stage. Education starts by teaching kids NOT to burry greasy papers in the sand on the beach , then NOT doing whatever they want "because they are kids and should not be deprived" Same causes always produce same effects. The problem of Drugs anbd Alcohol in Israel is before all a matter of leniency in education. Israeli parents do bear a heavy responsability , in the same fashion they need to teach their kids basis politenesee, they also need to teach them that taking drugs and and getting drunk will NOT change a 15 year old kid into a man !

6. Tasteless!
Tasteless and poor usage of comparitive pain. Mr. Messing, there are other ways to communicate your strong message without looking like a fool.

Karl Marx is dead, and so is most of what he said, I think that you refer to his having said that religion is the opiate of the masses, well the real opiate was a false utopia he envisaged, the opiate he sold people wound up killing untold amounts...ot maybe he was just selling another religion?

10. Truthmonger
Karl Marx's ideas were great , certainly 150 years ago . What was made out of them , had not much to do with his ideals . It was an utopia as you say , but distorted when applied in most countries . The same can be said of religion , how many people were murdered in name of this .

11. #9 & #10 re: Karl Marx & Opiates
Mr Marx is indeed dead & much of his economic theory discredited. He was selling a secular religion which in practice became a totalitarian nightmare. But some of Marx's insights were not totally false - among them the famous quote "religion is the opiate of the masses" ...... What I meant of course is the connexion between the image of a suicide bomber (intoxicated by a totalitarian ideology) & drug use (another intoxication often with opiates) - hence, a rather appropriate allusion to Marx's quote. Cleverness notwithstanding, the ad remains in poor taste in our context. Of course, Marx could have said that Marxism was the opiate of the masses had he lived to see his theories in practice.

14. great campaign
secular parents aren't obviously doing their jobs. And these kids get huzpanier, and keep increasing their drug and alcohol intakes It might be shocking, and even of bad taste, but my impression is that for a change, it will get the message through
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (06.20.07)
15. Good idea.....!
Well if that wont get the message across I dont really know what will ! The only difference is, is that the youngsters cause harm only upon themselves and grief on their families and friends. Lets hope this campaign is of posotive influence. Kol Hakavod !!!

17. Drugs and bombs
I find it interesting that they chose to relate their drug campaign to suicide bombings. I hope that even though it is becoming harder and harder to reach kids these days that we can find other positive alternatives to reach them. Narconon Vista Bay
