1. What a stupid stupid article.. Shame on you YNet
freejay ,   Israel   (07.07.07)
2. For once
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.07)
the secular and traditional score a lot better than the religious and haredi. How terrible and cruel to cut off a son or daughter because they're gay, amazing. What would the parents do if they just happened to have had same-sex attraction?
3. very stupid article shame on u again YNET
haim ,   mtl canada   (07.07.07)
NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF ,IF UR CHILD IS GAY send him to a yeshiva to learn about real men and women and why wr here
4. its a deseas that can be cured.
(07.07.07)
go see a doctor.
5. better gay than christian
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (07.07.07)
i forget where i saw the poll, but those percentages of parents cutting off relations with children that are gay are better than if the child became christian. priorities, i guess.
6. No. 3 Haim
NYC Girl   (07.07.07)
Since when does going to a yeshiva teach you anything about being a "real man." They're mostly a bunch of emotional cripples. If you want real men, send your kid to the army. Now, see, I'm sure you didn't like the sound of that, and so the idea that anybody who's gay is somehow not worthy of the love and support of their parents is equally loathsome.

NYC Girl   (07.07.07)
Homosexuality is not a disease and it cannot be "cured." And, unfortunately, neither can stupidity.
8. #2 somone not willing to take a stand...
izzy d   (07.07.07)
is a miserable person indeed. perhaps there are still ppl out there that believe in taking the harder path because it is the true one rather then conforming to public opinion so that they are not criticized by ppl like you with no belief and no real reason to live other then pure materialistic pleasure, enjoy the pathetic existence of of no reasoning.
9. to #8
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.07)
yes ayatollah, though art right, though I can barely make out your gibberish
10. General confusion
leon ,   Grand Rapids USA   (07.07.07)
Jewish law and tradition has never outlawed thinking patterns but only actions. Unlike Xtians, we do not believe that urges are sinful, and thus, homosexual orientation is not a sin. Homosexual BEHAVIOR is.
11. The love that dare not speak it's name...

Hey Number 4, why are you so scared to put your name down? Let me tell you something..there is no cure and homosexuality is not a disease..consult the DSM-IV book for psychiatry. I By the way this is coming from an MD! what an idiot!
15. #4 It's a choice and a bad one at that
Mom of a gay child ,   Israel   (07.07.07)
16. Kids and to # 14
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.07.07)
I wouldn't care if my kids were gay, bi, everything in between and had pointy heads, to boot. Although I may not like everything they do, they are my kids and I love them unconditionally. End of story. To #14: My daughter graduated from UNO, got married down there on a Mardi Gras week-end, and all I want before I check out is one more Nawlins wedding and/or Christmas eve on the levee in Gramercy. You guys do know how to have fun.
17. #5 Great talkback, Mike!
Sheikh yer Bu'Tay   (07.07.07)
I have noticed that, too. In listening to all the different Jewish groups debate their various opinions on subjects, it is interesting to see what unites them. Messianic (Jesus) Jews are hated the most.
18. Oops! I did it again!!
Sheikh yer Bu'Tay   (07.07.07)
My last TB did not violate the "terms of use policy" in any way, but has yet to be published. Methinks it has been censored! Once again, I have written something too sensitive for Ynet to publish! (And it was the truth.)
19. If being gay is a disease, do I get sick leave?
Omri ,   Yehud, Israel   (07.07.07)
20. To # 1 and 3
charles ,   petach tikva   (07.07.07)
You think this article is stupid ? maybe you are . It only shows that parents love their children , no matter what their lifestyle is . You would probably reject a gay child ? Sad , very sad that you are .
21. Israelis accept a gay child
Angelo Pezzana ,   Torino,Italy   (07.07.07)
The majority in favour of a fully acceptance? Israel, great Country !
22. why are so many men homophobic?
female ,   TA   (07.07.07)
Who cares about somebodies sexual preferance, we are all human ....I prefer gays over those hypocrite haredim....
23. #22 what is wrong with being homophobic?
(07.07.07)
actually the word implies that there is a phobia involved, which is involuntary. So if ppl can "discover" they are gay, why can they not also discover that they are homophobic? and furthermore, what have you against homophobic ppl? after all are they not human? perhaps it is because you have no belief in life that you think worthy of standing up for, and therefore you transfer you apathy to all situations in life and to all ppl. "cant we all just get along???? well if you dont believe in god then the natural order of nature is your answer. NO, WE CANT ALL JUST GET ALONG
24. #15 Mom of a Gay Child
NYC Girl   (07.08.07)
Would you be more accepting of your gay child if you knew that he or she didn't actually choose to be gay? Not only that, but if you read some of the anti-gay talkbacks, would it really make sense for somebody to choose a way of life that provokes such hostility? In fact, there's more and more scientific evidence to show that homosexuality is pre-destined in the womb, perhaps by certain hormonal factors or other determinants. I don't know if the fact that your child didn't choose to be gay would make you feel any differently, but there's an organization where there are parents in the same situation who have come to love and accept their gay children and I'm sure many of them struggled with the issue a great deal. Anyway, the group is known as PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). I wish you luck because you sound like you might be in quite a bit of emotional pain.
25. Gays reject their families
(07.08.07)
Gays reject their own families by refusing to carry on another generation. They live only for their own selfish sexual enjoyment.
26. Are we returning to “Lot’s” era?
Daniel ,   Israel   (07.08.07)
“Gays” I hear are forming a political party? This spells they will have their representative in the Kinneset, may be holding some ministry or even presidential post. If it happens so; and if he is a male; remove all men from his office. If she is a female remove all females from her office. Or there will be numeral rape charges against such president. Some visiting dignitaries may complain to the UN police (if they have one) and others may travel with strong escorts to avoid embarrassing situation. What’s happening in this holy country? Are we returning to “Lot’s” era? Are we preparing for self destruction? Such relationships are abnormal these people are sick and need help. Instead state is encouraging them! Lot of children will get affected by such rallies and their number will keep on increasing day by day. Stop this by law; and charge those for indecent behaviour in public; as you see it all during their “proud parade”!?
27. #24 Thanks, but no thanks.
Mom of a gay child ,   Israel   (07.08.07)
It's a choice they make and not genetics. A seed produces after it's own kind. That's the law of sowing and reaping. Humans don't produce zebras, and if you plant an apple seed, you will not get a watermelon. For something to become perverted from the original intent is to force or choose perversion to cause the origional creation of something to be different than it was created to be. I refuse to go to any lesbian or gay group. Why should I? They only will try to justify their perverse lifestyle to me. And I think when they try to do that, they really are trying to get someone to accept and herald that lifestyle that they know Hashem hates and deplores. Explain to me if you can why the majority of queers drink till they get drunk, or take drugs? I'll tell you why, It's because that's the only way they can cope living that pewtrid lifestyle they choose. I love my child who is gay, it's just his lifestyle that I hate and will never accept it or the gay friends they try to bring around. Not in my house.
28. # 22 So, are you gay? Can I have your # ?
female ,   attracted to you   (07.08.07)
29. Choosing a way of life "that provokes such hostility"
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (07.08.07)
"would it really make sense for somebody to choose a way of life that provokes such hostility?" Pedophilia, rape and other "alternative sexual lifestyles" provoke hostility, are the people who commit these acts therefore also "born that way"? Should these activities be tolerated and those who engage in them welcomed "out of the closet" so their widdle feewings won't be hurt? This argument does not hold water. There is no identified chromosome for homosexual behavior. There is in fact NO DEFINITIVE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE to prove that homosexuality is genetic. However this bogus claim is often used as a club to bully and silence opponents, along with the usual shrieks of "homophobe!" and the ever popular "You're secretly gay!"
30. Its no disease but it can be cured
Moshico ,   Jerusalem   (07.08.07)
First its not a disease and a doctor can not cure it but proper therapy can. Second its wonderful that you asked this question to parents but how many of these parents caused the problem. Homosexuality is not something that your born with, if that was the case, then explain to me why when identical twins are born why are is one “gay” and the other not, they both have the same DNA. Being “gay” or SSA( same sex attraction) is normally from abuse from a parent, uncles or sibling. Also the cause may be” toxic parents” it could be an over weight problem and a number of other problems which occurred in the home, there are plenty of books on this subject. So when you asked parents in this survey the ones who most probably would reject their children are most probably the ones who caused it. I suggest next time you do a survey ask “gay” people or SSA from what families they came from and what problems did they have when growing up.
