6. What a Shame
(07.25.07)
My first trip to Israel was in 1972 and, in those days, I'm certain nearly every one of those purses would have been returned. But things have changed and I think that having to live with the constant threat of terrorism and suicide bombings has hardened a lot of Israelis, along with a certain coarsening of society, which is taking place in many other countries as well.
7. Petach Tikvah and Ramat Aviv mall
malabas girl   (07.25.07)
are included in the 'real' story in Yediot. I feel very sorry for all of you who rely on what ynet deliberately leaves out for you not to read, every single day. They wont print this, as I sent the same message earlier. Weird lot, there.
8. I'll always remember the honesty of one Israeli
Former Tourist ,   USA   (07.25.07)
In 1985, I was visiting Tel Aviv with my boyfriend and we unintentionally left one of our backpacks at a local Hostel. As we waited for the bus, the son of the owner of the Hostel, a giant Sabra with a cigar hanging out his mouth, came running to the bus stop where we were waiting to give us the backpack. Needless to say, we were very grateful, but he refused to take a tip. So you see, Ynet's little test is not about to change my mostly positive experience concerning the honesty of people living in Israel.
9. Cobstant Haredi Bashing by Ynet and others
Al   (07.25.07)
will continue in spite of the fact that these people exhibit the best of the best. Israel has shown itself to be rag heaven. Last Dec I send $500 to my ex in order to help her out. Surprise surprise it was stolen from the envelope in the Post Office. In fact an employee in the Post Office stole it. Where was that? Hadera.
10. 100 is too much money in Israel
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (07.25.07)
The only thing that will work in Israel is to add to the 100 sh. the following: This purse belonged to my great grandpa, therefore those who find it will be rewarded with an additional 300 sh. No questions asked.
11. My daughter lost her wallet in DETROIT!
(07.25.07)
It was during a visit to the Detroit Zoo. It was turned in the next day to the Zoo Lost & Found with all the cash intact. Honest (and dishonest) people are found everywhere.
12. honesty
Alison ,   USA   (07.25.07)
interesting article about honesty.
13.  #9 Haredi Bashing? What are you smoking?
David ,   Los Angeles   (07.25.07)
Kudos to the folks in Bnei Brak. How is this haredi bashing? It's the opposite, duh.
14. #7 Why don't you tell us then? Nu?
David ,   Los Angeles   (07.25.07)
It seems strange that you're making such a fuss and then don't tell us what you claim they deliberately left out. I'm not sure what to make of this. Are you lying? Then tell us please.
15. #5 because your honesty would fail miserably!
(07.25.07)
16. Honesty or Not
Ofer ,   USA   (07.26.07)
I don't find it surprising that barring the religious people and old couple, it was mainly men who returned the purses. They were probably hoping to get a phone number out of the deal.
17. There are plenty of honest people
tma   (07.26.07)
My daughter left her wallet with a full cartisiya (bus fare card) and 40.00NIS in cash and it was brought to the bus driver who returned it to her. On another occasion, I dropped my monthly bus pass (at the beginning of the month) and it was brought to the bus driver and he called me on my cell. Learn from this people: write down your phone no. on your bus fare cards, etc. so people can return it to you. However, once my son left a cell phone on a shelf in a store to look at some object, then took a few steps from there. When he returned to the shelf, the phone was gone! My daughter called the number, and the phone rang..... in some man's pocket! The man explained that he was on his way to the cashier to let them know someone lost their phone, but then, what was it doing in his pocket??? NOt everyone is honest, unfortunately, but many are.

I've thrown out yesterday's Yediot, sorry. The original article was so much better, as is always the case with ynet, unless it can pull down our morale, then in that case, they really 'go for it'and print in full. Petach Tikvah did ok and printed a picture of a young lady who returned the money. RAmall didn't exactly shine, but I didn't take much notice of that place. Apologies. Ynet consistently leaves out many items and nuances to suit their 'agenda' (we LOVE that word here lately haha). It's sad the way in which people who live here have their stuff diluted for them. Many pleasant warmhearted articles items of news are methodically omitted. How they downplayed Bnei Brak results. They must be SO upset with that degree of honesty . "Thieves scoundrels dirty spongers, not enough that they take from the medina"...etc would have suited them (and the regular club of haters) SO much more. It's nice that YOU care enough to ask. No, 'honey' I'm not a liar, sweet 'dude'. Enjoy the summer, as we intend to do, by staying right here, relaxing with the a/c on, reading the newspapers and good books, (e.g. A Thousand Splendid Suns ), hopefully a good film or two, and travelling round the country, eating at the good restaurants recommended by kosher websites . Gan Eden. We don't need more. Calm down, we 'aint chareidim, we're an ordinary regular, and hopefully, decent, army/miluim family, who don't lie and twist facts to suit themselves.
