2. "Wind Blowing In The Region"
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.25.07)
Most of it is just hot air from discredited politicians who can't keep their mouths shut. Speeches like this are an attempt to sell us another bill of goods, just like they did at Oslo. "Peace, peace, peace....blah, blah, blah ..." And we got war, war, war. Are we supposed to buy the same defective product again & worse, from the same sleazy salesman who sold it to us the first time? How stupid does he think we are? Evidently, pretty stupid.
3. Netanyahu will become more peaceful as elections come nearer
Sam ,   Canada   (07.25.07)
4. Peres is Israel's chief False Prophet
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.25.07)
He's been setting the stage for Israel's destruction and calling it winds of peace. Only doomed ,blind fools believe this deciever who sits in power. When the wicked are in authourity ,the people mourn.
5. wind blowing from Shimon's butt...
Dan ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.25.07)
now... from the man who brought you Oslo... the biggest loser in the history of the State of Israel (kind of fitting that he is currently out president, just about sums up the state of the nation). Peace in our time!!
6. If you give away JerusalemTel Aviv & Haifa, of course.
ELY GREENHUT ,   Tzfat Israel   (07.25.07)
7. Lets Face it - Israel must expand to survive - not shrink
andrew ,   Miami,fl   (07.25.07)
8. Peres
Ram ,   london   (07.25.07)
The king of crap has "a lot of appreciation for Abu Mazen" the holocaust denies and terrorist in a suit!!!! "Let us stop the declarations and start acting" says the Egyptian. "Peace for territories" he offers, would you believe it. So much peace Israel got for Gaza! Peres is dangerous for Israel. Retire him already!
9. Winds of peaces (PIECES)
ELY GREENHUT ,   Tzfat Israel   (07.25.07)
10. Is this Neville (Peres) Chamberlain? "Peace in our time"
Allen ,   US   (07.25.07)
11. there's no peace in the air, just the quiet before the storm
Concerned Israeli   (07.25.07)
Iran is building a nuclear arsenal to destroy Israel, control the Middle East, and terrorize the world. Hamas and Hizballah are both building their arsenals, with the consent of Egypt, to help Iran in its bidding. Al-Qaeda is always working behind the scenes, planning their next murderous deed against the West. Where are those winds of peace Shimon is talking about? All I can see is a huge, dark and deadly storm brewing. Unfortunately, our weak and pathetic "leadership" is pulling the wool over our eyes for their own political benefit.
12. Wind? Too many burritos
Ilan ,   Ariel   (07.25.07)
Somehow it doesn't seem that Peres can distinguish between a Hamsin and Hamas. Or between a fresh breeze and the odors from a sewer. What has happened is that the Arabs sense our weakness and lack of leadership and therefore want to exploit Peres' presidency while it lasts. We can hope that window closes soon.
13. Peace would Israel make with Me...
Norway   (07.25.07)
If Israel would grasp My Stronghold,* then he would make peace with Me , peace would he make with Me. Isaiah 27:5 *If only Israel would hold fast to My Torah! Lev. 26: Parashas Bechukosai. This Sidrah begins with the idyllic blessings that await the Jewish people... IF THEY LIVE UP TO THEIR COVENANT WITH GOD, and then proceeds to the Admonition, a sobering account of punishments, frustrations, and curses that will result from attempts to destroy the Covenant. Indeed, though God's underlying mercy prevents all of these curses from befalling Israel in any one unbearable instant, a careful reading of Jewish history, and perhaps the twentieth century in particular - shows that they have taken place at various intervals, before and during the exiles. The blessings are given in general terms, the curses, however, are given in great details, because they are intended to awe the people, INTO OBEDIENCE TO GOD'S WILL. (Ibn Ezra v. 13). http://www.mechon-mamre.org/e/et/et0326.htm And I will give peace in the Land, and ye shall lie down... and none shall make you afraid and I (GOD) will cause evil beasts (the enemy) to cease out of the Land, neither shall the sword go through your Land. And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword... And I will set My Tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you... And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be My people. I am The LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, (out of idolatry/slavery) that ye should not be their bondmen ... AND I (GOD) HAVE BROKEN THE BARS OF YOUR YOKE, AND MADE YOU GO UPRIGHT. Leviticus 26:6-13 By climaxing the blessings with that of peace, the Torah teaches that peace is equivalent to all the other blessings combined (Rashi Sifra). Days are coming when Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill the face of the earth like fruit... Isaiah 27:6 The LORD (GOD) will give strength unto His people The LORD will bless His people (the Jews) with peace... Psalm 29:11
14. Enough wind to fill a balloon?
Jason Derrick ,   Australia   (07.25.07)
I like to think that maybe, the majority of the Arab leaders are frightened of Iran and looking for another ally in Israel and it's puppet-master Bush. I can dream, can't I? Until someone sticks a pin in my balloon...?
15. From the talkbacks I get that good old Simon can't fool us
Norman   (07.25.07)
Remember he brought us Oslo how many dead wounded and broken hearts he caused.
16. ILLUSION OF PEACE!!!
al mann ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.25.07)
I'm glad that those who either play ignorant or be purposely ignorant of our history only shows how inept our people and its leadership really is. The problem is we have denied our history, our past experiences, our past sacrifices as related in the Torah, Prophets, Greek and Roman history, the Holocaust, and now the Sons of Ishmael who would like to erase our people from the face of the earth. Their smiles are false and we are caught seductively by them. How come that wherever the Children of Israel had a sacred site it was destroyed and others erected churches or mosques in its place? Even today, the site at Mount Moriah has been made bereft of any sign of past Temples and artifacts have been tossed into a garbage heap along the walls of ancient Jerusalem. They are trying to erase us and become the Chosen people. We are weak. We lack belief. We lack Hasmonean strength. We have lost the willingness and strength to battle the modern Amalekites, who would deny us our land and our holy places. Ties and jackets cannot seduce our president and politicians who can not face the truth about who we were and who we could be if they reread the past greatness of the Children of Israel. We are no longer the nation of 1967 or 1973. Let's not get caught up in economic and political factors alone. Thought should become deeper about us and our fate in this world as a people who has survived the greatest catastrophes of any nation on earth. Why are we still here? What power supervises our existence on this earth? What responsibilities do we have in response to the blessing of this nation's survival? Somebody ought to start thinking deeply about our mission on earth. Denial of the past is not the answer. Denial only presents more problems and difficulties. When will our leaders learn anything? When will our leaders return to our original ideology--if they dare learn and admit to its veracity.
17. "And the day will come when they say PEACE, PEACE, & then
there will be sudden ,   destruction" Israel   (07.25.07)
18. Norway #13
Keren ,   SP-Israel   (07.25.07)
I was intrigued by your comment number #7 ,#14,#22at http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3428720,00.html And I would love if other christians and muslims would comment about the issue of the false prophets, both christian and muslim's. I know it is not exactly related to this article but...
19. To Gheit and other Cheap Sell-outs, Prepare for War!
Khalil ,   Occupied Palestine   (07.25.07)
Gheit and Khatib are 2 faces of the same old currency: morally-bankrupt arab dictatorships who had rather please America and keeping their thrones rather than pursue the truth and the wellbeing of their subjects. These two individuals do not represent the collective will of the Palestinian people nor have they been of any support to our just cause and uprooted nation. To them Palestine (our homes, villages, and nation) has become Israel. To us Israel is and will continue to be an illegitimate entity sitting on the ruins of our nation. No amount of "negotiations" will ever repair this! So-called negotiations are futile and only delay the inevitable: the final confrontation between Arab Muslim nations against the Zionist colonists and their Western backers. Gheit in particular claims that Egypt is making "frantic efforts" to rescue Palestinians trapped on the Rafah crossing. More lies and propaganda from the evil and corrupt Sadatist regime! Everyone should wake up and read this photography session as a symptom of the upcoming WAR against Persia. Washington has obviously called upon its agents in the region to "appear to revive" a process which is clearly out of fuel and purpose....
20. The Arab League delegation to Jerusalem
David Zohar ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.25.07)
I welcome the Arab League delegation which brings a message of peace. I pity all the little minds that scatter in fright when they hear that peace might break out. If we have the courage and the wisdom to start serious negotiations we might eventually have an Israeli-Arab alliance that can stand up to the fanatics in the Moslem world (Iran and alQaidah) and protect the faint-hearted Jews who are afraid of peace.
21. #14
josephine ,   london uk   (07.25.07)
virginity is like a balloon;one prick and it's gone.
22. 2 states
Sandy ,   USA   (07.25.07)
Peace...peace when there is no peace! To withdraw and keep withdrawing, solves nothing. The world is with you Israel, just silently and prayerfully. Quit being so nice!
23. # 17 Peace, peace, to him that is far off...
Norway   (07.25.07)
and to him that is near, saith the LORD that createth THE FRUIT OF THE LIPS and I will heal him... Isaiah 57:19 And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; many shall see, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Happy is the man that hath made the LORD his trust, and hath not turned unto the arrogant, nor unto such as fall away treacherously. Many things hast Thou done, O LORD my God, even Thy wonderful works, and Thy thoughts toward us; there is none to be compared unto Thee! If I would declare and speak of them... they are more than can be told. Psalm 40:4-6 But the wicked are like the troubled sea; for it cannot rest, and its waters cast up mire and dirt... Many are the sorrows of the wicked; but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy compasseth him about. Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart. Psalm 32:10-11 There is no peace... saith my God concerning the wicked. Isaiah 57:20-21 Behold, the LORD'S Hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear... But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue muttereth wickedness. None sueth in righteousness, and none pleadeth in truth; they trust in vanity, and speak lies, they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. They hatch basilisks' eggs, and weave the spider's web; he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper... Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall men cover themselves with their works; their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands... Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, desolation and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they know not, and there is no right in their goings; they have made them crooked paths, whosoever goeth therein doth not know peace. Therefore is justice far from us, neither doth righteousness overtake us; we look for light, but behold darkness, for brightness, but we walk in gloom. We grope for the wall like the blind, yea, as they that have no eyes do we grope; we stumble at noonday as in the twilight; we are in dark places like the dead. Isaiah 59:1-10
