1. with money haredim can always find a solution....

2. If I were an enemy of Israel, I'd be laughing at the Jews
Howard ,   NYC   (08.08.07)
The Palestinians are doing their homework arming themselves (with American and Israeli weapons) and securing promises after promises from the appeasing Israeli government. Now the Arabs are watching the Jews go at each other, some of them trying to outdo the others in readiness for - not "combat" - but the abuse and expulsion of other Jews. Caroline Glick has a column on the Jerusalem Post today about the Bergson Group. While the Jews were being rounded up in Europe during WW2, the Leftist Jews in the US did all they could to prevent the right-wing Bergson group from going on an all-out campaign to alert American Jews to the genocide and to demand that the Roosevelt government did something to save the European Jews. The Leftists were supporting the do-nothing Roosevelt while the Bergson Rightwingers wanted to save the Jews at all costs. Today the Leftist Olmert follows Bush's directives to the letter. Does not want to stand up to him while the Rightwingers desperately try to stop the surrender of Judea and Samaria and to prevent the expulsion of Jews. Strange how the story is repeating itself. Different names, similar attitudes, similar situations. This rift between the Left and the Bergson group remains active to this day. Caroline Glick reports on the latest confrontation between them. Today's energy draining conflict between Jews who want to expel Jews and those who do not, only advances the interests of the enemy. Jews should be preparing to fight the enemy, not other Jews.
3. First of all, you should know rabbis in Israel r paid off..
Jeremiah ,   Israel's Jewish Land   (08.08.07)
Rabbis in Israel are paid a stipend by the Government. The Government helps with their yeshivot and other expenses. Now can anyone see why they might bow down to government pressure? Pulling of these funds was threatened against rabbis who might speak out against the Gush Katif expulsion. All rabbis should sever this addiction to Government funds and speak pure, unadulterated Torah. Secondly, is anyone surprised that a bunch of Communist self-hating Jews are more than willing and encouraging their children to blindly follow orders to destroy Jew lives? The kibbutz movement is dieing in Israel, B"H. Their ideology has failed. And finally, after WWII only a true idiot Jew would blindly follow all military orders without question. It's a matter of conscious. Those that refused this insane Government's orders to destroy Israel are incredible heroes. The terminally ill liberal left is rapidly shrinking in Israel thanks, largely to the sick policies and actions of this Government. The majority of Israelis are itching for real change. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/123310
4. Religious and non-religious oppose ethnic cleansing of Jews
Golani ,   Israel   (08.08.07)
It's no coincidence that non-religious soldiers have also begun refusing such unethical orders, as we saw with Duchifat in Hebron. You really think that the Nachal HaChareidi would agree to ethnically cleanse Jews from Hebron, the city of our forefathers? Never. The nation opposes ethnically cleansing Jews.
5. Put your money where your mouth is
Stan ,   JHB RSA   (08.08.07)
Time for the peacenicks and humanitarians to pull their fingers out and rise to the challanges presented in manning the check-points needed to keep Israelis safe. No more excuses.
6. #3 You're 100% correct.
Ted N. ,   Jerusalem   (08.08.07)
It is a fact Rabbis in Israel are paid stipends by the Government. I've actually had conversations with my Rabbi about this. It has to stop.
7. ex nachal haredi
Shmuel ,   London   (08.08.07)
With out the national relegious in nachal haredi - the unit wouldnt be worth serving. It is a great place because the people belive in the land and not this sicko government. I served their and the national relegious are the peopel who make the unit relegious - with out them - id doubt you would have a minyan. The national relegious are the best soldiers. As for this so called Rabbi - he obviously doesnt represent the unit because everyone is against expelling Jews there - he obviously needs to be taught that Judaism is connected to everything in life. By saying politics is not connected - he sounds like a reform Rabbi who wants to pick and choose from the relegion. Nachal Haredi is full of great young people - i dont remember a single traitor that believed in expelling Jews. Sounds like this so called Rabbi needs to learn the importance of Erez Yisarel from talks of the Lubuvitcher Rebber. Nachal Haredi would never expell Jews no matter what this corrupt so called Rabbi says. I only hope this paper has twisted his words and that he never really said such rubbish.
8. #4
EM ,   Ra'anana   (08.08.07)
The Duchifat soldiers who refused to substitute for the border police were religious. Can't you at least try to get some of your "facts" straight?
9. Thank you!
EM ,   Ra'anana   (08.08.07)
At last a voice of reason broadcast from the Haredi Nahal founders. Kol HaKavod to the Netzach Yeduda association.
10. Refusal and Democracy
Avi ,   Efrat, Israel   (08.08.07)
All those who respect democracy should be praising the soldiers who refused the orders! Their refusal is necessary to protect Israeli democracy and return the moral fabric to Israeli society and the army. For more on this perspective read: http://avirach.blogspot.com
11. refuse orders
Golan ,   sweden   (08.08.07)
If religious soldiers can refuse orders then even left wing soldiers can refuse orders to guard setelments and then we have total chaous. And that will be the end of us all.
12. to #11 left wing refusniks
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (08.08.07)
They already have stated that they would refuse to evict Arabs - but then they dont get put into really unfair situations - only the relijous do because Olmert wants them out.
13. #11- You've missed the point
LEE ,   NY, USA   (08.08.07)
The IDF was set up to defend Jews. These 'refuseniks' are demanding to do just that. They are refusing to life a hand against those they were hired to protect. Where does this fit in with your analogy? Your comparison has no basis. By the way, does anyone know if there is a ceremony being planned to honor these courageous soldiers? What about a fund to support these leaders of our generation? I'd love to contribute.
14. Haredi Rabbi
eddie ,   London UK   (08.08.07)
Finally a handful of haredis agree to go to the army, after 5 wars, terrorism, intifadas etc. ANd some pipsqueak Haredi has the arrogance to criticize the Hesder soldiers for refusing to serve in a specific operation? What a damn fool!
15. dont get it
kibbutznik ,   kibbutz   (08.08.07)
So the kibbutznikim are now willing to volunteer for the army to kick Jews out of their legally owned homes at the whim of Olmert? Why dont they volunteer for Gdud 51 of Golani and imitate the mitnahel Ro'i Klein? I guess fighting 15 year old girls is easier than fighting Hizbolla warriors
