1. Telling it how it really is...
Yehoshua ,   Israel jerusalem   (08.11.07)
Unfortunately this is only the tip of the iceberg, and a continuos cycle of greed, deception, a whole way of life. Only when the entire Kenesset is toppled and replaced with a Authenic Jewish rulership not divorced in any shape or form the Torah-which is Truly the real Law of the land, will we enjoy a lasting Peace for ourselves and the rest of the troubled region.G-d is after all the true Ruler and Creator, this needs to be reflected in the most physical aspect of creation- Our world.Only we the Jewish people have a 100% authentic G-d given way of life.Only we can truly make it happen for ourselves and the whole world.United together.
2. "Peace where there is no peace" and "By peace he destroys...
Rivkah   (08.11.07)
many" is the character of the age or era before the Messiah comes in glory from the sky and touches down on the Mount of Olives. All of this hope for peace and safety will lead or has led to a Covenant with Death the Prophet Daniel spoke of. I am uneasy about the New ENPI treaty an Israeli Prime Minister signed because like the Covenant with Death of Daniel, it is seven years long. If the THIRD TEMPLE is rebuilt on the Temple Mount within three and a half years of the signing of the New ENPI and a world leader goes into it saying he/she is god when he/she is not god, then it is the Covenant with Death of Daniel. New ENPI means New European Neighborhood Partnership Initiative. I believe Israeli leaders sign treaties with a good intent and are not aware of the dangers. Prime Minister Rabin was a patriot most of his life, but he did something that took away God's protection from him that caused God to call him a traitor in the ELS codes. Israeli leaders must be more afraid of God than of the EU or WEU or UN or NATO or USA or Russia or Moslems. Only then can God lead them to do what is right to God, not to others who do not know God.
3. Who is violating the "Roadmap"
Jeff ,   US   (08.11.07)
YNET readers should perhaps famiarize themselves with wht the Roadmap text actually says -- rather than rely on the tendentious and self-serving commentary of theenemies of peace. You can read it here: http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2003/20062.htm Israel was obligated in Phase I to halt all settlement activity ("including natural growth") and to dismantle all settlement outposts established after 2000; it was to refrain from the confiscation or destruction of Palestinian property, among other things. These obligations were to be simultaneous, not dependent on prior Palestinian actions. . .
4. #3 - Jeff - Israel is an independent country
Howard K ,   NYC   (08.12.07)
Nobody should be dictating to Israel what to do with its land and with its people, particularly considering the fact that it's been Israel the one attacked again and again by its enemies. Only coward and treasonous leaders decide to bow to inmoral and clueless bullies like Bush and the Eurabians.
5. They want an Islamic state
Canadian Otter   (08.12.07)
"A global Islamic movement that wants bring Muslims back to the roots of their religion drew a crowd of more than 10,000 at a rally Saturday and denounced the moderate Palestinian Authority leadership in the West Bank as infidels." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1186557421280&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull One would have to be perversely stubborn not to admit that Abbas hangs in power by a thread and that the Palestinian's own Roadmap leads to an Islamic state. The Peace Plan is nothing but a devious way to despoil Israel of its land. Nothing else. Bush has his reasons, and the Arabs have theirs. Their interests converge. And the Jews lose.
6. Why not give it all to our Palestinian friends?
Steve ,   USA   (08.12.07)
We gave them Gaza. Why not give our Palestinian friends Haifa, Tel Aviv, Netanya, Jerusalem, etc. Aren't these our good friends. Bush and Rice believe in the goodness of the Palestinians. Most Jews love Bush and believe Bush is our best friend ever. Bush is Israel's best friend. American Jews especially believe this. Jonathan Tobin, David Horowitz, Paul Wofowitz, William Kristol, Charles Krathammer and others simply worship Bush. They adore him! Most every Jew reading my words think Bush is a GREAT FRIEND TO ISRAEL! Yes or no? Yes. A thousand times yes! We Jews believe in Bush? Well?? Come on Jews, why not give everything to Bush's friends and to our friends the Palestinians? Won't they treat the Jews with justice?
7. There is limbo dancing and then there is limbo politics
Yoav Naor ,   Haifa Israel   (08.12.07)
Gilad Sharon says it all in just a few meaningful words. No spin no BS just the plain honest thruth. We can see the symtoms of the sickness, we know and have the cure, but there is no one willing or able to administer that cure..
8. It's worse than a charade, it's a plot
Kevin G ,   Oregon   (08.12.07)
aimed at robbing Israel of its land. Olmert is part of it. It's not that the Israeli leadership believes Abbas' word or trusts he'll stay in power. It's all about sacrificing Israel for the benefit of Bush and his Arab cohorts.
9. Roadmap
Jeff ,   US   (08.12.07)
Yes, Israel is an independent country and has the right to accept or not accept international agreements (though not to escape condemnation when it violates international law). The US is also a supposedly independent country -- except, apparently, when it comes to Israel -- and we are free (or should be) not to finance Israeli lawbreaking and bad faith. But you cannot condemn the Palestinians for not totally living up to their obligations (which included conducting the elections that brought Hamas to power), while ignoring the fact that Israel has not fulfilled any of its commitments under the same agreement -- which it claims it accepted.
10. 9- Israel hasn't fulfilled any of roadmap? How do you figure
reciprocity rocks ,   USA   (08.12.07)
Israel DID allow free elections, the government CONTINUOUSLY states its committment to the two-state solution. It has withdrawn from territories. (I'm not even speaking of Gaza here, but rather the continuous eviction of settlers from post-2000 outposts.) As we speak, Barak is working on a plan for the removal of major roadblocks in the West Bank, despite the security risks. Major sections of the (very effective) security fence are on hold. There is still violence by soldiers against Palestinians, but it is condemned AND TRIED. No, Israel's not perfect, but it is making a definite effort to uphold the spirit of the Roadmap. This all despite the fact that many members of the FATAH party have refused to give up their weapons or renounce terror against Israel - condition #1 of the Roadmap. Only this past June, the 'moderate peace partner' Abbas called in Arabic for Palestinians to turn their rifles against Israel instead of each other. That doesn't sound like issuing an "unequivocal (reiteration) of Isael's right to exist in peace and security" that the Roadmap demands. And Fatah is fabulously compliant compared with the elected Hamas. The Palestinians haven't even upheld their own condition of institution-building within the PA! There is no equivalence here. Israel is working harder, empirically, towards peace. And this despite the fact that Israel's PEACE AND SECURITY is conditional on the Palestinians' part of the deal. Everyone expects Israel to keep acting according to the Roadmap and even move on to its Phase 2 (a Palestinian state) while not expecting the Pals to move at remotely the same pace, even though there is meant to be INTERDEPENDENCE!
11. Read the Roadmap Agreement!
Jeff ,   US   (08.13.07)
You can easily find and read the text of the Roadmap at the link I provided or by Googling. Yes, Israel "allowed" Palestinian elections, but then punished the voters for their choice. And do you really believe that Israel has frozen all settlement activity? Dismantled all the Outposts? Stopped confiscating Palestinian property and demolishing houses? News reports show otherwise on a weekly basis. Get real! The "Peace Process" is indeed a charade -- the only accurate statement in the op ed, but the blame is primarily on Israel, which is intent on frustrating any real Palestinian state while claiming to be the victim.
