1. We should spell out our response
Michael ben Raphael ,   Tel Aviv   (08.13.07)
We should say very clearly to Syria that if they attack our civilian population, then Damascus will be Nuked. Yes that's right Nuked. Why should the Jewish people go through anouther holocaust when we have the weapons to protect our citizens. We should not care what the world thinks, less anyone forgets how much the world cared when we were being gassed to death.
2. 31: Read Isaiah chapter 17 of the Authorized
Rivkah   (08.13.07)
King James Version Bible to see what is to come in judgment of Damascus and Syria if they attack Israel. Damascus will be taken away from being a city and will be a ruinous heap. There will be only a remnant of the Syrian people left. The soldiers will die in the streets. On another subject, your name that you use a a nom-de-plum or is your real name...Michael means "like unto the Lord"...ben means son of...and Raphael is the name of the death angel. Kind of an apocalyptic name, wouldn't you say?
3. All this because Israel no longer deters
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (08.13.07)
The greatest failure of last year's conflict was the serious weakening of Israel's deterrence. We saw it first when Olmert announced, even as Syria was openly shipping weapons to Hizbullah forces, that Syria would not be attacked. As if to suggest Israel was more afraid of Syria, or of widening the conflict. Syria was thus given a free pass to do its worst, without cost. With the failure to secure the Home Front by stopping those rockets, Syria has yet another viable option to attack Israel without directly engaging its forces. It is therefore preparing its own offensive missiles in numbers that will overwhelm any Israeli defenses, even as it gears up defensive forces against Israeli attacks. Finally, repeated references to "peace", "painful concessions" and a likely ceding of the Golan tell Syria that Israel is weak, ready to fall with the next major thrust. And, as everyone but Olmert and Co. seem to recognize, in this neighborhood weakness only invites aggression. It must therefore be made clear that: 1) the Golan is not on the table; 2) Syria will be held to account for its actions in Lebanon; 3) Israel's response to any Syrian aggression will be fierce and comprehensive; and 4) the end result of said aggression will be the end of Assad. In game theory they speak of a "mini-max" strategy wherein one attempts the maximum gain at minimum cost. Syria must be made to understand any aggression will be VERY expensive. Failing that, expect another war.

What I have seen over the years that most of the Israelis possessed same thinking to nuke all the persons on planet and this is the only reason why they are afraid to see Iran as nuclear Power but if God willing they will reach that point very soon. As for as nuking Syria or any other Muslim country, remember one thing Pakistan is nuclear power and that can be happen to you what you are dreaming for Syria . If you want to save your self then ask your government to stop butchering innocent Palestinians and give them their land, this is the only way you can save your lives and many others. God Bless every peace loving person on earth .
5. If Moshe Feiglin is elected, Israel will survive
Mike ,   Boston   (08.13.07)
but take it for granted that for the next hundred, thousand years, Israel will be preparing for war because of the aggression of its neighbors. That's the way things are. Peace is just a pause between wars. If Moshe is not elected, then Israel will simply desintegrate in less than ten years. One Peace at the time.

...and your IQ is about 2 points higher than a potato's? Besides your intention of murdering a few million innocent syrians you disregard the fact that any nuclear pollution in Damascus would immediately contaminate the water basin in the area and under the Golan as well, meaning the full water supply for Israel. Go back to school.

the only reason israel "lost" to hizbullah is because of two reasons; 1. israel and jews in israel in general cannot stomach casualties. they get all knoted up and wring their hands when casualties are mentioned in the news. jews do not have a stomach for that. ron ben ishay said point blank that there is no war without casualties and that israel should understand it. we can't go into war fearing for casualties because then, we won't win. we would retreat the minute we suffer these casualties....and this is precicely what occured during the last lebanon war against hizbullah who doesn't have the humanity to value human lives. 2. we entered unprepared, without a solid plan of attack. our intelligence was not at fault. we knew what they had and how they were going to use it from past experiences at the border. however, we needed to have a plan which we did not and so communications and overall objective was lost. 3. world opinion.....this was the biggest disadvantage israel had....when you pay too much heed to world opinion, you cannot do what needs to be done. hizbullah and arabs know that by creating a public scream of murderers, israeli aggression, killing of infants and staging attacks that never happened and deathe that never occured because of israel, they can win world opinion to their side and as a result, israel's government will halt the attacks. media in arab hands is what made the war stop! otherwise, if we paid no attention to their scream, we would have reached the litani in no time. 4. the minute that the israeli troops suffered casualties in arab villages in southern lebanon, the commander called off the operation and they all returned back home. is this a way to conduct a war?

10. concept
alun ,   london uk   (08.13.07)
one of the mistakes israel made in the Yom Kippur War was that they had the concept that the arabs would not attack until they had air superiority i hope israel does not have a similar erroneous concept today. They have the capability to destroy within five minutes many civilian and military targets in israel .this capability should be removed immediately and the syrian ability to retaliate, but Syria is just a diversion from the real problem Iran which must be dealt with in a similar manner
12. Damascus will be just a casulaty of war
jlynch ,   USA   (08.14.07)
As the rest elsewhere. They Israel are without walls , the settlers without effective support means without walls. Not physical walls like concrete and barbwire. That offers no physical or spiritual protection from gogs arrows. They have peace as far as gog evily thinks a thought. Peace and walls are in the thought of the beholder
13. They have prepared 3 fronts
Jack ,   London   (08.14.07)
Hams takeover and training in Gaza,Hizbollah replenishes arsenal,Syria latest sams, and scuds. They know Israel will be very stretched to fight on 3 fronts and that is exactly what we are facing. Then Haman (abedulnejad)comes to damascus last month to put the finishing touches,I hope that Israel is ready.
14. To Sajjad #4. Israel Reacts On Attacks.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (08.14.07)
You write :".. Israelis .. (want) to nuke all the persons on (the) planet ..". What kind of NONSENSE are you speaking ?? HOW can Israel nuke all the 6.6 billion people of this planet Earth ?? WHY are you so afraid of Israel ?? Israel reacts on attacks. WHEN Hezbollah attacked Israel unprovoked -- Israel responded in a massive manner -- while endeavoring VERY hard to minimize civilian casualties amongst the Lebanese. You write :".. give them (i.e. the Arabs) their land, ..". THE Arabs already have their land -- it is nowadays known as Jordan. THE British Mandate of Palestine was divided in 1921 AD into 2 parts : one part for the Arabs, and the other part for the Jewish People. THE Arab part of Palestine used to be called Transjordan -- and changed its name in 1948 into Jordan. THE Jewish part of Palestine consists of all the land west of the Jordan River -- meaning Israel, including Judea and Samaria. BTW Judea and Samaria is nowadays known as the West Bank. So, Sajjad, there is NOTHING to be given to the Arabs -- they already received their part in 1921.
15. #8: I am not a missionary. I want Jews to be Jews in their
Rivkah   (08.14.07)
hearts, not atheists. I want Xtians to be Jews in their hearts, too, which is what Rabbi Yeshua wanted. There is no need for me to be a missionary to change the Jews who are Jews in their hearts from that. Jews who are Jews in their hearts go to heaven. I have no power to change atheists to anything, but I do feel sad for them. I have no income to write to help people and I am not a missionary as you accuse me. There is no paycheck for me to convert anybody to anything. I just have a love in my heart for the Bible.
16. 4 Baseless allegations Sajjad, and yet you use the name

of God in your letter. Maybe you should rethink it all.
17. Is Assad preparing for War?
Monique   (08.14.07)
According to another article in todays paperYnet, his top general is mulling it over,so why is Barak still insiting according to Jpost that he doesn't want to hand out the gas masks for fear of Syria misinterpreting the handout as us preparing for war ,when seems to me that Syria is doing so right at this very moment. So just make ready the homefront now,fix shelters, hand out the gas masks before the missles come this way.
18. Assad and War
Yosef Goldberg ,   Gush Etzion   (08.14.07)
Speculation about Assad's intentions is like trying to read tea leaves. Of greater concern to us should be the matter of are we prepared psychologically and militariy for war.Our fearless leader is assuring the public that there is no war in the offing; I sincerely hope that the IDF is ignoring him
19. Preparing..? No - being pushed..? Yes

When they lost the Golan? Get real!!!
21. #4...uneducated talk back!
DR ,   Florida, USA   (08.14.07)
Your post is a reflection of how brainwashed you people are. All you know is that Israel and the US are Satan, right? Israel has much deeper interests than nuking the world. Medicine, technology, science etc. Your countries, however, have nothing but the hate and violence which is bred into your blood. Give it up, you are playing a losing role in life and this is how your people will be remembered in history...the world's losers!!!
22. It might not matter what Bashar wants anymore
woww ,   LA, USA   (08.14.07)
He will be forced to act. Iran pushes him through his brother in law and his brother, those 2 probably plotting to owerthrow him anyway, they would have done it earlier only their little pet project behind his back of assasinating Hariri backfired. There are very few options left. On the other hand I would like to know how many russian advisers arrived recently to Damascus?
23. Yes; he is
Daniel ,   Israel   (08.16.07)
Assad is a confused idot, don't trust his words either ways. For war or anty war.
24. #4 Another wearisome conspiracy theory
Ariel ,   London UK   (08.19.07)
#4 Sajjad reminds me of the Pakistani intellectuals who appeared on BBC and insisted that the Israelis flew the planes into the twin towers! Any why not? after all they all think Jews are responsible for bird flu, Hurricane Katrina, the Christmas eve Tsunami and the next natural disaster going to happen some place in the world tomorrow!
25. The only mistake made during last summers war
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (08.20.07)
was not dropping troops north above the dug in forces. Who cares about the idiots in the rabbit holes when you occupy the entire country of Lebanon. Everyone despises rabbits in hiding when they lose their freedom. The miscalculation of the terrorists who cause an entire country to lose there freedom will not be celebrated in the streets of Lebanon. Suround the southern part of Lebanon after capturing the north next time round.
26. #25...Mistakes et al
Ariel ,   London UK   (08.20.07)
I think the mistake was not inserting Airborne troops on both sides of the Litani river and making a concerted push from the south of the river and north of the Israeli border towards the centre. That way the rabbits would have had to fight from every side while the troops north of the river choked of supplies and reinforcements.
27. Another war ?
Franklin ,   Paris   (08.30.07)
What would be the status of more annexed territories...??? Arabs had confused Wargames,FrontierGambling and Monopoly.... The Price of sacrifice imposed by the ennemies in case of defeat ??? New frontiers... Assad must think twice....More than Golan or not Golan.
