Helene ,   Israel   (08.17.07)
stop Kassam shooting in the south. Period.
2. Hold Israel Responsible War Crimes
Mr. Knowitall ,   Frostbite Falls, MN   (08.17.07)
Israel's strangulation of the Palestinians should be taken to the UN General Assembly, presented as a war crime and a vote taken to expel Israel from the UN as was done by the General Assembly to the former South African Apartheid regime. The UN needs to step in an stop the US/Israeli attempts to destabilize the region further and hold Israel financially responsible for its many violations of the UN Charter, International laws and failure to meet its obligations as the belligerent occupier of Palestinian lands. Enough is enough!
3. Why do they need electricity?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (08.17.07)
Isn't electricity un-Islamic. It's not mentioned in the Qu'ran & Mohammed didn't use it. Hamas should be greatful - they want to go back to the 7th Century so this is a step in the right direction, backwards. Anyway, electricity is an invention of evil infidels & the corrupt West. They should want no part of it. It's more Islamic to stay in the dark.
4. #2 Your brain is suffering from frostbite
Logic ,   Israel   (08.17.07)
By the way, Israel left Gaza.
5. #2 - TOUGH LUCK ... BUT WE'RE NOT DEALING WITH CHILDREN HERE
stude ham   (08.17.07)
In gza we're dealing with hamas, namely, a full blown terrorist organization whose record in gaza is scaring the world. And if you insist on calling this situation apartheid you are so into having your hatreds for the jews exposed.
6. 2 - border with Egypt means no strangulation
observer ,   USA   (08.17.07)
Israel is not the sole supporter of Gaza, nor is it the sole access to Gaza. The border with Egypt means that the word 'strangulation' is not applicable here. Due to the aid from and border with Egypt, then, as said in the article "electricity can still reach a great part of the Strip." Also, the crossing was closed for security reasons - aka potential terror threats against Israel. Sadly, you had no complaints against that. Why not?
7. good 2!! lol you will be the only one to vote it!!

Dude   (08.17.07)
"Israel's strangulation of the Palestinians should be taken to the UN General Assembly," Maybe you don't realize this, but Gaza is not under Israeli control. It's under Hamas law. The fact is that Israel is under NO requirement at any shape or form to allow anything to pass through it's borders. They can go to there brothers in Egypt or Jordan. End "presented as a war crime" http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3438853,00.html Ya that doesn't count "and a vote taken to expel Israel from the UN" Expelled? Hell if I could do anything about it, I'd leave willingly as this organization is basically run by the 'bastions of human rights' such as sudan or KSA. I think it says more of Israels stupidity in staying in such a racists and anti-semitic organization. " as was done by the General Assembly to the former South African Apartheid regime." Ah yes the grasping of weak straws of the "apartheid" argument. Just a question; What ethnic and religious groups are in Gaza and what are in Israel? I guess apartheid is fine as long it's done on Jews. Because you know you can't let them run wild! "The UN needs to step in an stop the US/Israeli attempts to destabilize the region further" But hey screw Darfur, Congolese, the women of the gulf region, other religious sects in Arab world and south east asia, North Koreans, Chinese villagers and so on... I guess Israel was successful in it's plan of destabilizing the mid east by using Disengagements and withdrawals.... Oh wait! "and hold Israel financially responsible for its many violations of the UN Charter," Let me get you straight, you demand that Israel be expelled from the UN yet still be held responsible under UN law? Sounds like when a kid wants to move out but still get money from his parents. Which is actually a good metaphor for what your demanding of Israel and the Palestinians. You can't demand to be separate state (without any Jews I might add) yet still basically Israel run those areas as the government funding everything. I must also add that the UN is the not the one world gov't. It does not hold sovereignty over Israel or the US. I didn't vote for anyone in there, and no self-appointed bureaucrat is gonna boss me around. I can also tell from your attitude and tone, that you haven't taken a civics course as then you would know that the American constitution makes the US president the highest authority in the Land NOT an outside organization. " International laws" You obviously haven't read the 4th geneva conventions. Start with articles 28 and 29, and then read the rest. "and failure to meet its obligations as the belligerent occupier of Palestinian lands." Sorry but these lands were taken from JORDAN AND EGYPT in a war of aggression against Israel. But yeah I shouldn't confuse people with facts. "Enough is enough! (With you're claptrap Mr. (NOT) Knowitall )" Finally a statement I agree with...

Dude, with respect... If you signed for your Social Security Card ( Social Insurance Number here in Canada) or Driver's License etc.. you have already given up your rights and are basically indentured to your state or country of residency for the rest of your natural life and quite possibly your childrens as well. Sorry for the let down Dude :( Moshe Chile

12. #2 Israel should've done this along time ago!!!
jan ,   usa   (08.17.07)
This should've happened when the first qassam was lobbed over into Israel. I have said it before, and I'll say it again, no way are the palis smart enough to run a city. If Israelis left their homes today and turned the keys over to the palis, they would fall on their faces in just a few short months. All they've been trained to do is hate, throw rocks, and make bombs. They have no idea of how to run the infrastructure of a city or municipality. They aren't trained to run power plants, water plants, and we sure know they don't know how to run a sewage plant by the tsunami of crap that flowed down their streets a few months ago. THEY are the ones who taught their children how to hate, THEY are to ones who want to destroy Israel, THEY are the ones who are the real terrorists. So why should Israel give them one inch and do one favor for them. THEY are the ones who are strangers in the land, and if they don't want to abide by the rules of the country their in, then they have OVER 30 other arab countries they can go mooch off of. Yet isn't it interesting that those 30 arab countries don't want to take in the arab trash? And besides if the monkey in the middle east can stand and shake his fist at the powerless UN, why oh why should Israel have to listen to another corrupt body? Your hate is just as strong as a muslims hate is. Perhaps you are one of them????
13. Dream On #2 The Jew Hater!!! Hah Hah Hah!!!

Would love to but unfortunately I am unable due to the unpleasantness of having to sign for my passport, but if ever you make it to the great white north, look me up...and by the way, shabbat shalom :)
15. "cannot be detailed" ? why should Israel explain ?
redmiike ,   tel aviv and london   (08.17.07)
The present journalism on the Israeli websites is rock bottom and/or anti-Israel. I am so pleased that there is a new right wing newspaper in Israel called "Israel Today". It is free and it's not left wing and the journalists are some of the best in Israel. I won't have to read poorly considered articles written by amateurs and extreme leftists anymore. Wake up YNet and start doing serious work and investigative journalism or you'll soon be out of job!
16. Gaza Occupaiton Continues, only the illegal settlers left
Mr. Knowitall ,   Frostbite Falls, MN   (08.17.07)
Just removing the illegal settlers is not ending the occupation, as proven by this story where Israel still controls the borders, air space and maintains its 40-year old draconian grip on Palestinian lives, even going so far as to try to destroy their democratically elected representitives that were chosen by over 70% of all Palestinians. The UN General Assembly should kick Israel out of the UN as clearly Israel refuses to abide by the charter or UN resolutions. And the good thing is that the US cannot veto the GA, so all it takes is a vote.
17. collective punishment, its Israel's responsibility!!
Gaza resident ,   Palestine   (08.17.07)
It`s Israel`s responsibility as an occupying power to care for 1.4 inhabitants living in the Gaza strip, as soon as Israel ends its brutal occupation and hands off Gaza`s crossings then the authorities here will find a way or another to generate electricity, look after the people and I assure you they will stop bothering you, this is collective punishment when you starve people and deprive them from their basic human rights, although I`m not Hamas supporter but its disgusting when use all sort of pretexts.
18. Only 25%
Jonny Gee ,   Brookline, MA USA   (08.18.07)
Why only 25%? For every Qassam launched, cut it 10%. Let them rub sticks to make a fire.
19. Doesn't Gaza Share A Border With Egypt?

27. let gaza get all its power from egypt
jack bauer   (08.18.07)
cut off all supply of power from Israel (which they are pledged to destroy) and let them make deals to get it from egypt enough is enough already p.s. #2 foolish words from a foolish person
28. Hey Everybody!!! #17 is assuring Israel!!!
Malcolm   (08.18.07)
".... I assure you they will stop bothering you...." Well if that's the case, all Israel has to do is follow #17 and he will personally guarantee peace!
29. #17 Collective Punishment? more like mass suicide
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (08.18.07)
Your population voted for Hamas, this is not a collective punishment as there is a crossing into Egypt. Also, even if you did control your crossing, Israel would still have control of their side of the crossing. Typically countries guard their own borders and each country patrols and monitors their side working in conjuction with the other country. But considering you guys aren't trusted and are unreliable you don't have control of your side. But you will never have control of Israel's side. Your popular vote in your election was a mass suicide not a collective punishment, Cry elsewhere.
30. israel's fault? israel alreadysupplies gaza free electricity
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.18.07)
gaza should be thanking israel for the generous charity it receives on a regular basis. if anything, ungrateful is what they are.
