1. Were They Wearing Their Seatbelts?
Potsy Weber ,   Waubeshau, USA   (08.21.07)
I think not
2. Here We Go Again
tomas ,   bsas,argentina   (08.21.07)
The Circle of violence begins again. No matter what Israel DOES AND DOES NOT DO, you Hamas terrorits will continue to fire rockers, misiles, suicide bombings.... then Israel will respond as usual. So, what the hell do you want from Israel to do? YOU´ll tell me: They can Die. Well let me tell you something: Israel won´t die. YOU MUST STOP TERRORISM, stop teaching hatred, culture of death, antisemitism! and start talking about Peace! PEACE! If not, this will never end and more lives will be lost. God!
3. I have a solution to the Qassams
Aharon   (08.21.07)
For every Qassam fired at Sderot, Israel should fire a Jericho I missile at Gaza city. This way they will get a feel for what it's like, and unless they stop, there won't be a Gaza City for much longer. It also prevents unnecessary Israeli deaths from ground operations in the strip.
4. Hamas
mike ,   Seattle   (08.21.07)
Hamas says: "If Israel tries to prevent us from killing more Jews, we will try to kill more Jews." This is madness. Hamas has declared war on Israel. It attacks Israel every day. When one side declares war, it does not get to determine the size of the other side's response. When you decide to declare and wage war, you take the risk that you may suffer some adverse consequences. If you don't want to take that risk, don't attack another country. This is so obvious, I can't believe it even needs to be said. Israel should target every Hamas building and every Hamas leader and fighter. Israel must realize it is in a war and win it. That is the duty of a government when your country is attacked. A government that doesn't protect it's citizens and doesn't try to win a war waged against it should not remain in power.
5. The IDF should at least be clear about its intentions
David L.   (08.21.07)
It's no secret for people living in Gaza that all the rockets fired in the last few months at Israel were fired by Islamic Jihad, and not by Hamas. Despite that, Israel continued targeted assassinations of Hamas members, and staged two raids in the southern Gaza Strip - far way from any rocket launching anyway. It's perfectly okay if Israel wants war with Hamas, or kill their fighters. After all, Hamas wants pretty much the same. But the IDF should quit its childish rethoric and attempt to portrait itself as being dragged into a conflict by morally inferior people. The facts is that, as far as Gaza and Hamas are concerned, the IDF has been initating most of the fighting in the past few months. Today's strike is another example of that. Again, to repeat, there is nothing wrong with the IDF fighting Hamas. But I highly suspect that they are not in fact interested in a full war, prefering rather limited operations and strike which are perfect training opportunities for their soldiers. What they maybe don't realize is that such action only give more strenght and support to Hamas among the Palestinian population, are are in fact in good part responsible for Hamas becoming so big.
6. HAMAS DIGGING ITS OWN GRAVES IN SANDY GAZA
david ,   usa   (08.21.07)
7. Were they "retaliating" against the Gaza pullout too?
Korem ,   New York, USA   (08.21.07)
They fire after the Gaza pullout, they fire after a truce, they fire after an airstrike...the word retaliation has no meaning in what they do. They fire their qassams with no regards to anything.
8. hamass has already announced their intentions...
Micha   (08.21.07)
jeez it's in their charter..the demise of Israel..the demise of the Zionists.... Ok, then that's war. end of story. hamass is history. and should hamass wish to bring its arab brethren into the line of fire, then they will bear responsibility for the deaths of those people. war is war.
9. To #1
Frank ,   Canada   (08.21.07)
You should have metion that the airbags were sabotaged by evil Zionist conspirators.
10. David # 5
Natan ,   USA   (08.21.07)
Are you that naive? Do you really think that Islamic Jihad can operate in Gaza without the approval and blessings of Hamas???Those organizations are the same!!! They have the same goals!!!IDF will strike at both whenever they can.
11. Re: #10
David L.   (08.21.07)
My main point is that what the IDF is now doing is self-destructive. Such limited operations only slightly damage Hamas. On the other hand, the Palestinian street sees that as unprovoked agressions. For relatives of Hamas members, killing these terrorists while in fact fighters from another group are responsible for firing rockets amount to a crime. Wether or not this is right can be subject to debate. Nevertheless, I maintain that actions like today are among the main factors which contributed to the strenght of Hamas. The IDF commanders have a too short vision, and forget to learn lessons from the past. There are really only two options: Either you fight terrorism full-blown with all your military power, or you attempt to defuse terrorism by removing reasonable factors causing it. What the IDF did today only worsens terrorism.
12. #5 ru you 8 years old??!!??
jerome ,   basalt, co   (08.21.07)
either your from planet zero brains, you are 8 or younger or the reversal frontal labotomy didn't work! which is it? let us know!
13. To Hamas. It Is Called JUST Punishment.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (08.21.07)
Hamas said :" it was a massacre ". When operatives are killed it is NOT called massacre. Hamas, WHAT do you think we should do with your operatives -- give them a reception-party filled with music, ice-cream and cakes ??!! BTW killing operatives is NOT called crime -- it is called JUST punishment. Hamas, you want justice -- so, when justice is meted out to your operatives -- you should NOT cry foul !! Hamas, from your territory rockets ARE fired into Israel -- don't you think you should RECEIVE some back ???
14. Hamas threatens more dangerous weapons than those that usual
meir elazar   (08.21.07)
Hamas threatens more dangerous weapons than those that usually miss their target. Can't stop laughing at the stupidity of HAMAS's continued firing mostly ineffective Qassams against a 21st century airforce with laser guided missile and an unbelievable arsenal. On the other hand Israel must totally obliterate HAMAS and wipe every last one off the face of the earth; not showing any mercy what so ever until every last Hamas, Islamic Jihad, PRC, and El Aqsa terrorists are dead - no exception - no mercy!
15. Retaliation?
Dovy ,   Toronto   (08.21.07)
It appears that the Hamas military wing will say things in a harsh manner, but that they are controlled by their political wing, which has decided to engage in politics with the vain hope that other nations will come to like them. The armed wing has used these expressions before, but without significant result, at least over the last 2 years of the ongoing ceasefire (that Hamas has said ended months ago). Jihad is responsible for the Qassams, and the non-retaliation of Hamas seems to be giving the Zionists exactly what they want, namely relative peace and quiet.
16. Hamas threatens retaliation
Carrolyn   (08.21.07)
Hamas will continue to send Qassams no matter how much of the West Bank Israel would leave, you could give them the whole west bank and arab east Jeru. and they would still fire because their stated goal is the entire land of Israel minus the Jews. They have stated time and time again the goal is to liberate Palestine and push the jews into the sea,so no matter what conseeeions Israel gives to the Pales. they won't be happy until they succede in their goal!
17. To Korem #7. Hamas CAUGHT In A Trap.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (08.21.07)
You write :" They fire their qassams with no regards ". YOU are right. They ARE addicted to firing qassams. For example drug-addiction -- either it will kill you (due to over-dosis), or you are trying to decrease the usage with the aim of stopping the usage. BUT this addiction of firing qassams will have ONLY one result -- the killing of the operative. BTW the money they (i.e. Hamas) receive from the Ayatollahs of Teheran -- is killing them. It is POISON in the garb of honey. The more they receive -- the more of them (i.e. Hamas) will be killed. Hamas can't refuse the orders of the Ayatollahs -- they (i.e. Hamas) are CAUGHT in a trap.
18. Arabs: It all started when he hit me back.

colin   (08.21.07)
Great going IDF. Pity there were only six but if the Airforce knew that it was a security post why was the whole area not bombed.Bit laksidaisy airforce.Next time wipe the area clean.Getting soft on the terrorists ???????????????
20. Hamas play with Qassam : Israel play with fire
john ,   nz   (08.21.07)
Who got burnt? Those idiots in the car!
21. Ynet Editors - please stop using BBC euphemisms
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (08.21.07)
"Military wing" - as opposed to Hamas' nice, cuddly non-military wing. Would you call the Nazi Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe their "military wing" and the Gestapo and Hitler their NON-military wing? It is ALL ONE UNIFIED terrorist organization. "Militants"?!?!?!?! They are TERRORISTS. If even Israeli news media whitewashes thugs and butchers, then how can you expect the international media to support Israel and to condemn terror? Be part of the solution, please, and use pro-Israeli or at least anti-terrorist terminology.

KMR ,   Middle East   (08.21.07)
...better to face the so called " dangerous wepons" now rather than letting them to collect more of such "wepons".....
25. israel has more dangerous weapons too!
robert ,   usa   (08.21.07)
Why do arabs always say that, "Israel is playing with fire" or " They have opened the gates of hell" and then nothing happens because the arabs are already doing everything the can to harm israel and fortunately the security fence does work.
26. Blah Blah Blah !!....also to #5
freejay ,   Israel   (08.21.07)
They sound really pissed.......hahahahahahaha.........i think Hamass are slowly falling apart and the AIF/IDF are doing a great job chiselling away at them. If they want to destroy us then this is the price they will pay! Also David, Islamic Jihad/Hamass are one and the same. Just two different interbred families but both have the same intentions, Israels demise. If the elected government of terrorists called Hamass cant control Islamic Jihad(if you still believe they are seperate) then they take full responsability. Also notice that in nearly every strike, Israel gets its target. These are wanted terrorists(not innocents) that have comitted past crimes and even if it takes 10 years to get them, they are fair game. I totally disagree that these operations feed the hamass cause, in fact it does the opposite. Doing nothing does more damage. Arabs only understand force!!!!
27. Arabs opened the "GATES OF HELL" toJews 100 years ago
Alan ,   SA   (08.21.07)

28. Netanjahu - WHERE AAAAARE YOU?!

"We'll give as good as we get." When's the election!!!
29. Hamas are spent, empty and worthless
Sammy ,   Newcastle, UK   (08.21.07)
Its not that things are out of their control in Gaza. QUITE THE OPPOSITE. If HAMAS wanted to move forward, to improve conditions, to find an accomadation with Israel ITS NOT NUCLEAR SCIENCE! The SINISTER reason for perpetuating the MISERY for my brothers and sisters IS THAT HAMAS PROFIT from their very misery. They grow fat and rich whilst Gazans starve and suffer. THEY ARE CLINGING TO POWER so that they clean out GAZA and then offer it to IRAN as a battleground against Israel. And worse, word from the Gaza Street is that Haniyeh, rather than looking for solutions, bolstered by Iranian money and pressure is growing more intransigent, more unstable, more belligerent, more intolerant, more corrupt and more dangerous.by the day. Thats why more and more Palestinians are seeing Haniyeh for what he really is and abandoning support and looking for ways to cleanse Gaza of this nightmare.
