3. Safe and clean environment
Petra ,   USA   (08.27.07)
Is healthy for all citizens. Perhaps this could be one issue that both parties could agree to and come together in a civilized way. Or, perhaps Bono could do concerts in both territories? If we poison one another, is that seen by G-d in a good light? As Jews, we have a higher responsibility, to care for the earth and, for one another. A good place to start would be to help clean the areas and monitor their cleanliness, together. It's the right thing to do.
4. is it safe?

Why dont the peace now volunteers go help clear up the garbage, and risk being lynched by al aksa /hamas brethren of theirs?
5. Seriously disgusting!!

6. More propaganda drivel
freejay ,   Israel   (08.27.07)
Tell the truth..............The arab towns in the west bank can only blame themselves. They dont pay taxes and expect services from us.......how ridiculous. Go to just about any arab coutry, city or village and you will see rubbish strewn everywhere. The settlements only constitute a small part of the popullation of the west Bank......90% of waste comes from the arab communities there. You also didnt mention all the recycling Israel does! Its the Pallies that dont care about the enviroment, not us! "Yesh Din" organization should change its name from organization of volunteers for human rights....to organization of volunteers for propaganda against Israel!
7. newsflash! Israel sends 10,000 brooms to PA !
redmiike ,   tel aviv and london   (08.27.07)
Silly left wing nonsense and cowardly too! Shlomi Zecharia doesn't even mention which human rights group or who 'he' is! Israel should go clean up places from where kassams and suicide bombers are being launched?! Not a serious article and I'm getting close to giving up on Y-Net! I have 8 people on my 'don't bother to read list and they all write for Y-net.
8. Garbage=People
Refuse-Nik ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (08.27.07)
Garbage is created by so-called human beings and the kind of so-called Jewish human beings responsible for the garbage in the W Bank are rubbish. No surprises there then. Solution? Clear away one and you'll also clear away the other other. Problem solved. Clean and fresh and PEACEFUL. Bring on the biyuvniks next!
9. It's The ARABS Who Dump Garbage Everywhere: NOT The Jews
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (08.27.07)
Zecharia obviously doesn't care about the environment. This is just another feeble attempt to oppose Jews living in OUR land. Anyone who really knows the area knows that Arabs dump garbage, and often building and quarry waste anywhere and everywhere that they can get away with it. Their sewage runs freely into wadis and valleys, untreated. It's disgusting. Not only is this not the case with the Jews, and if Zecharia would like to debate this publicly, he will lose big-time.
10. Environmental Duplicity
Yisrael ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.27.07)
Having seen the source of the article, one need not wonder at its prejudice. May I remind one and all that our 'peace partners' refused outright to co-operate on cleaning up waste water from Jerusalem on political grounds, and that, as a purely personal observation, the Arab approach to public cleanliness is even worse that my fellow Jews, which means it's practically non-existant, in general.

The Water Commission pointed out that Arab villages in Yesha have no septic tanks, with most of their waste-water flowing into rivers. The commission added that PA-controlled cities do not treat sewage, whereas 85% of Jewish communities do so. The Water Commission also claimed that the Palestinian Authority is uninterested in promoting sewage treatment; despite the willingness of donor nations to finance such projects, nothing was being done on the matter. At the donor nations conference in Rome two weeks ago the PA asked for $1.2 billion, of which only $60 million was allocated for sewers. A recent study released by the Applied Research Institute of Jerusalem (ARIJ), an Arab run organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development in the PA-controlled areas, reports that the Palestinian Authority allows PA farmers to use 14 pesticide agents that have been internationally banned, among them many of most toxic pesticide, such as DDT and Paraquate. The study reported 53% of PA farmers disposing of their excess pesticide chemicals by dumping burying them. The dangerous chemicals continue to leach down into the mountain aquifer causing contamination. It is noteworthy to mention that much of this sprayed produce is marketed in both pre and post-1967 Israel. Advocates of organic, pesticide-free produce have long advised against purchasing fruit and vegetables grown in the PA. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/54828
14. unprofessional journalism
ronit   (08.27.07)
Ah, I see where Shlomi's intensive research and fact checking for this article came from: He went to Arab towns and asked them where the trash comes from! They of course answered that its the Jews fault. Then they told him that Israel is giving them chewing gum infected with HIV, green balloons that are actually bombs, and of course, the infamous story about how Israeli doctors kidnap Palestinian kids to remove their organs and give them to Jews. But like every other left wing journalist who wants to believe Palis THAT much, Shlomi took their word for it and did no true fact checking. This is a prime example of unprofessional journalism and the spreading of lies through the media.
15. not only unprofessional journalists...

But a newspaper that supports it...
16. smog is worse for your lungs than a pack a day
jlynch ,   USA   (08.28.07)
of cigs, like millons of cars and industurial smoke stacks. You must show both sides of the coin. Removing or stopping the settlers is going to get more than the goverments today that have a end removed. A child shall be able to count the trees within a nation. The hate against the settlers is more insane than saul or the philistines. When saul and dagon fell they left the settlers then alone , now the sky is falling look at the two poles whirlwinds, and they still will not leave the settlers alone. Insane as judas or the idiots dancing around the golden calf in front of moses yet laughed at. Pslams 2 you cannot stop the settles Daniel 12 only scatter them and get scorched. A child shall count the tress. Within a nation.
17. How are Kassam rockets for the environment
Mordechai   (08.29.07)
Does Yesh Din recycle the Kasamm rocket fired on Sderot now that Gaza has been liberated.
18. Garbage in Gaza
kate kastoff ,   panama city USA   (09.07.07)
I'm confused. If the Gaza strip is under the control of Palestinians, how can Israel dump garbage there without getting shot?
