1. Like Wild Animals, then rescued by those same Animals?
David P. ,   Central Coast, USA   (08.27.07)
2. Credit where credit is due - THANK YOU PA
Zionist ,   Miami   (08.27.07)
This type of action is the real essence of confidence building. It builds real trust and can be a basis for peace. The PA needs to show more humanitarian gestures such as this one. It is a 180 degree turn from blood stained hands being displayed from a window after permitting a mob to kill reservists.
3. DON'T THEY TEACH THEM HOW TO READ MAPS IN THE IDF?
stude ham   (08.27.07)

I hope this is only the beggining... Its is a bit pathetic though that the joe blows on the streets are animals. Good job Pal police. We owe you one.
5. Surpirising.
Izzy Dozit ,   Hod Hasharon   (08.27.07)
Maybe there's some ray of hope getting through. The PAPSF is looking to become more responsible. Certainly surprised the hell out of me.
6. The PA police did their job magnificently!
David ,   Hartford USA   (08.27.07)
Sadly, the average Joe-on-the-street would rather have a lynching or a stoning. It's exactly that behavior which has to change. I don't see how it will with their schools teaching hate of Israel and Jews and promoting the glory of martyrdom for Allah.
7. wtf! he, a major, didn't know he was entering jenin???!!!
dante ,   uk   (08.27.07)
8. hopeful sign from p.a.; police are to be thanked
dante ,   uk   (08.27.07)
9. nice leadership
sami ,   jenin   (08.27.07)
the palestinian leadership is a nice one. it acted according to the orders of their masters" God's Chosen People". Just two days ago the israeli undercover force get into Jenin and lynched a palestinian there. the bloated coward palestinian police didn't act, but today to win the hearts of God's chosen people they acted and protected the Israeli soldier who must have killed many palestinians during the Distorted Intifada. the armed groups didn't appear to arrest him and release their compatriots from the Israeli jails, they hid, but when there is a local problem they come in dozens to show their mad power. such groups should really go to hell and such leadership must go to a cesspit but such a soldier shoul be proud of his commanders and people who saved his life without even arriving at the scene. Not strange he is one of God's chosen people.
10. After 'peace treaty" the result will be different
Itzik ,   Haifa   (08.27.07)
Now, we still have soldiers near Jenin. But if Olmert will sucseed then the lynching will resume and not in Jenin but right outside Jerusalem. Some years ago I was traveling freely in Jenin and Ramallah (before Rabin introduced Oslo). Things will be worse, much much worse with Olmert-Barak.
11. IDF major blunders into Jenin
Juan ,   Spain   (08.27.07)
A major in the IDF ACCIDENTALLY enters Jenin - you expect us to believe this? I am so glad he got out in one piece.
12. #2 zionist - I second your opinion. Thanks, PA (end)
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (08.27.07)
13. Police was acting in self interest - They own Olmert's govt.
Canadian Otter   (08.27.07)
Why would the police do anything to rock the boat now, at this crucial moment when very soon Abbass is going to get it all from their friends Olmert and Peres? On the other hand, the mob was expressing the true feelings of the Palestinian people. They have no appreciation for Israel's gestures of good will, and very little in the sense of restraint and decency. They've shown that already, only in their violence against Jews but against each other. What they wanted to do to the Israeli officer, they'd want to do to every Jewish man, woman and child (including the deluded Leftists).

Alan ,   SA   (08.27.07)
15. There's a very important conference scheduled for tomorrow
Robert ,   USA   (08.27.07)
between Olmert and Abbas in which much will be decided, but there is not much media coverage about it. Although most Israeli people are against territorial concessions, that's exactly what will be decided tomorrow.
16. Grea news, wonder what right wingers has to say....
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (08.27.07)
according to them all arabs want the Jews dead... and here they are rescuing an IDF Major..it doesn't fit with the right wing propaganda..!!!
17. A GIANT STEP AWAY FROM HAMAS AND TOWARDS PEACE
meir elazar   (08.27.07)
This act cannot be ignored or forgotten. People should save the URL for future reference to this courageous act that can only help promote better relations between PA and Israel. After the HAMAS govt committed suicide by overthrowing FATAH in GAZA, the world has discarded HAMAS in the global trash bin to be permanently forgotten. EU, USA, and Israel have been stepping over each other to hand over millions of dollars to FATAH and support a return to negotiations. This single even of saving the soldier's live may overshadow all other events and hopefully forge the way to improved relations with the PA. It would be a great tragedy if the event were dismissed or forgotten. This is the kind of action that must be acknowledged, publicized, and immediately acted upon with serious and well known rewards to Palestinian Security forces, etc. in Jenin and surroundings to help promote such actions with rewards in numerous ways (unless exploited for terror purposes). While the actions of the mob are despicable, the PA security forces met their obligations and we can ask no more from them. We see in Gaza that the govt. does not meet their responsibilities for actions from their territories and the terror attacks and Qassam launchings continue. We are a people that REMEMBER. But we must always remember not only the bad but the good as well. This includes Hasidei Umot Ha'Olam - those that are not very old but risked their lives to save Jews in the Holocaust. They must not be forgotten as we fight to help our holocaust survivors fight for their pensions in order to survive. Similarly, one can only imagine the courage to stand up against a mob to save an Israeli soldier who lost his way. In my mind they must be honorable courageous men and hopefully the kind of people we can make peace with and live together with enjoying prosperity together with over Shebesh, a good game of soccer, and a small cup of strong coffee. Allah Ma'akum W'Nushkur Min Kulna Ma'ah Salame (May G-d be with you and thanks from all of us. May peace be with you) Meir
18. The face of Savagery
Brod ,   USA   (08.27.07)
See the face of savagery. They have been behaving like that since the 7th century. The savagery of such thugs is universal. You see the same modus operandi in other non-Islamist countries--such as Thailand and the Philippines where they are crusading their Jihadism. You will see the dark world of the savages in greater detail by going into the following websites: www.faithfreedom.org (then click "Gallery") www.thereligionofpeace.com
19. Thank you PA Police! Maybe there is hope afterall?
Roni   (08.27.07)
20. BottomLine:: Palestinian civilians didn't resque him....
KMR ,   Middle East   (08.27.07)
....People's mind not changed, this is worrisome...
21. Peace?
Sam   (08.27.07)
As much as we all want peace, it appears that nothing has changed in Palestinian culture since years ago when two soldiers who wondered into a West Bank town were lynched. That is still the population's response to seeing an israeli. Do we really think peace is possible with a nation that acts this way?
22. agree with #2
edmundo ,   London UK   (08.27.07)
PA is moe moderate , and is not interested in a lynch, which would cause massive retaliation against the PA. ALso, many PA prisoners were released, this is the least they could do. We shoudl say it's a miracle in fact, since other Israelis who have strayed did not escape with their lives.
23. To Rami
Avraham ,   NYC   (08.27.07)
Look, there is no other way to say this, the Arab police officers did the right thing and saved a Jewish life and do deserve to be commended. There are no if's or but's here. What I do want to point out though is that the situation on the ground is unfair: an Arab from the territories can safely walk in Jewish towns, whereas a Jew almost definitely would be hurt, maimed or killed doing the same in an Arab town within the territories (we all do remember the fate of the two reservists in Ramallah, for instance). This disbalance must be addressed and is on the mind of many Jewish Israelis.

Apartheid ,   Boston USA   (08.27.07)
26. nice to know
eliezer ,   jerusalem   (08.27.07)
nice to know that the Palestinians Security forces do help, but not too nice to know that the extreme hatred of the Palestinians has not dissipated since the lynch in Ramallah several years ago.
27. #11 Juanito - What do you mean?
Mike   (08.27.07)
What other reason would a normal Jew have by going into Jenin by himself???? Haven't you read about what happened to two Jews in 2000 and how they were lynched by the mob? What other reason but an accidental mistake?
28. #18 Brod - Excellent website -
Robert ,   USA   (08.27.07)
29. They knew another lynching would derail everything!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (08.27.07)
They didn't give a damn about the life of the officer! They knew a lynching would stop all discussions!!
30. The major should be busted down to civilian!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.27.07)
Why aren't the roads to Jenin barricaded? If the officer was unarmed, then he should sit in prison for that. If he had a gun and did not use it,he should never get out of prison.
