32. If True
Phillip ,   NYC USA   (09.02.07)
if this story is true..... is it not what the Nazis did. Not 100% German.... no school for Jewish Children. None is Isreal the same type of behavior. Shame on all if this is a true.
33. Harry Potter #7
jewish mother ,   jerusalem   (09.02.07)
Some bored journalist at Y-Net has been reading Harry Potter 7 and got confused. ALL schools have entry requirements, religious and secular that bar kids from outside their immediate circle from entry. Some go by academics, others financial, others, unfortunately, by ethinicity. Why would this mother want her child to go to a school like this?
34. Discrimination
Hilda ,   US   (09.02.07)
Discrimination of this sort has no place in Judaism. It is worse than the sign no Jews or dogs allowed which was true not so many years ago in many places in the US By this Cheder's rules my son would not be approved either because we found in my husbands's geneology the first head Rabbi of Portugal back in the 12th century. We also found King David. Maybe if we traced this Rabbi's geneology we might find that his great grandmother was raped by Russian peasant. Neither of these things are as important as the present character and devotion to Judaism and to the State of Israel. of the family involved. Obviously this rabbi should be fired and public funds should be withheld until the institution complies to standards,
35. Religious or Secular....
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (09.02.07)
shutdown all institutions who call any type discrimination!

38. Sephardi Boy's stained background
Malka Kideckel ,   Melbourne, Australia   (09.02.07)
This is yet another example of why Moshiach is being held back . Sinas Chinum strikes again!!
39. #29 And you are the worst example!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (09.02.07)
I ,contrary of you,see more and more Ethiopians in the universities and advancing. Their parents could not achieve the education the childern are having, because they came quite recently from a very backwards country. They have the same opportunities as all,and they are profiting step by step.I see how they are satisfied in Israel, and I am happy when I see them proudly wearing a Magen David in their chests. It is your ugly view what spoils the goodness of Israel. Israel is a very, very decent country. The more decent I have seen in my life.
40. 16 : They do, but it takes time
S Judah ,   London   (09.02.07)
To get to the same level, having started 50 years later then the Ashkenazim. It’s what Shas is about, it was why it came into being, it’s why it is successful, and it’s why it and Rav Ovadia are critised at every opportunity. There is an inherent prejudice even amongst the secular, particularly on the left. .
41. I suspect -
Shalom   (09.02.07)
(Let's hope I get through YNet's censors this time), that based on the fact that most Hareidim wouldn't run to YNet with their story, perhaps this has happened to a certain "YNet Insider" who gripes about her "Sephardi blood" . If that was the case, she was probably refused for on her own (lack of) merits.
42. This jerk is simply feeding ammunition to the enemy (eg #11)
Scott ,   USA   (09.02.07)
43. thanks ynet
(09.02.07)
is it a private school? well if anyone could go it wouldnt be private anymore would it? but all thats not important...... another bleeding heart story about how evil and racist jews are.....par for the coarse ynet
44. Every community has the right to mold its own character
abdullah ,   ashkenaz   (09.02.07)
.. and that in practice involves some level of 'discrimination'. What is tragic in this case is that someone felt they belonged to a particular and then they were rejected. This should be a sign that they don't really belong to that group, in the first place. It is not a sign of inferiority on the rejected party. Its just not a good match. They should find the community in which they truly belong and contribute to it.
45. # 42
Naomi ,   NY, USA   (09.02.07)
I was thinking the same thing
46. #30 Who runs the country?
Aharon   (09.02.07)
Ashkenazim, or Mizrahim?
47. I guess he would have rejected Rambam
Steve ,   USA   (09.02.07)
48. haredi school rejects sepharadi
ken wagner ,   thornnhill , Canada   (09.02.07)
If this parasitic school gets any government funding the funds should be cut off. Jews are jews regardless of background and especially in Israel
49. More and more pushing me from religion
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (09.02.07)
It is behaviour like this from people who supposedly represent Judaism that is pushing me away from observance!! I wish I had the phone number of the school so I could tell them!!
50. I wish I could
Sagi ,   Israel   (09.02.07)
change my genes and become a Sephardi. The Ashkenazi Haredi are simply disgusting examples of Judaism and in fact they put us all to shame in everything they do and say. I hope that good sense will prevail and some how, someone will force them to understand how revolting they are.
51. Rambam Alfasi Bet Yosef
edmundo ,   London UK   (09.02.07)
The many Sephardi masters of Halacha, which the europeans piggy-backed on, all have "tainted" background. It is an honour to have this "tained" sephardi background. Perhaps Sefradim Haredim should rethink their own piggy-bakc ride on their benighted ashkenazi fanatics bakcs!
52. Raciste
Rami   (09.02.07)
It is amazing, and i don't understand why Haredi people, which must give the example of good behaviour, are so much more raciste than the secular, it is a shamful behaviour, and can bring to the end of Israel, sinat chinam was the cause of the jewish diaspora
53. # 13 Terry
Sagi ,   Israel   (09.02.07)
You are 100% correct. They belong in the villages of Eastern Europe, their bodies have physically migrated to Israel, their minds and souls are still stuck in Eastern Europe. They are not part of the modern world, they are not part of Israel, they are not part of us.
54. Abdullah #44
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (09.02.07)
Again you are right. It is a way of thinking, after all they chose an isolated part of Beith Shemesh to live in ,and there they built their buildings and stores and banks etc. It is a correct point of yours too. They have the right to live the way they choose. But...They live inside a country called Israel, and a little compromise is necessary. After all the roads, all the cities infrastructure is part of Israel. Maybe without it they would not be able to be there... A little compromise is needed, they don't live in an island.
55. Its Danny Rubinstein we should be attacking.
S Judah ,   london   (09.02.07)
You have all wasted your time attacking Rav Ovadia, and I have no time for this junk school, happy they have been exposed - but why is everyone quiet about this disgusting man. "The British Zionist Federation cancelled a London speech by Haaretz editorial board member Danny Rubinstein following his appearance before the United Nation's Conference on Palestinians, in which he referred to Israel as an "apartheid state. The political director of the European Coalition for Israel, Susanna Kokkonen, said she was "was most shocked to hear an editor from Haaretz condemn Israel in a way that was worse than the Arab speakers." Rubinstein, speaking before 350 guests at the European Union's Brussels parliament building, said: "Today Israel is an apartheid state with different status for four different Palestinian groups: those in Gaza, East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Israeli Palestinians," .
56. to 49 chaya
dovid   (09.02.07)
considering you dont believe in global warming and probably belive the earth is flat, i say, good riddance.. by the way, anyone who is stringly grounded by their precepts and practice wouldnot see this as a motivator to flee. Most of the people in the talkbacks seem pretty well grounded, secular and religious alike.
57. My son..
John ,   Amsterdam   (09.02.07)
So it probably wouldn't be possible to place a future son on a school like this, when the father would be a Ger Tsadek and the mother a born Jewess? Pure racism and DISGUSTING!!!
58. To all Sephardi Jews
Sagi ,   Israel   (09.02.07)
I am Ashkenazi and ashamed. Please accept my sincere apologies which I submit to you with humility.
59. not in our school
