1. The land for peace <> pullout
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (09.06.07)
Lieberman seems to have missed an important point: land for peace worked. look at Egypt and Jordan. There land was given as part of a peace deal, and it has held. The problem is one-sided pullouts like the pullouts from Lebanon and Gaza came with out any agreement from the other side. So there is an attempt to keep trying for more land (with more violence) prior to an agreement. The lesson should not be that land for peace does not work, but that land for peace treaty is the only way it can work. So, until there is someone that can sign and enforce such a peace treaty then there should be no more land concessions.
2. start by explaining it to Livni - she doesn't get it
aaron ,   ra'anana   (09.06.07)
3. Yet Yevette (Avigdor) would broker the land
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (09.06.07)
Great claims notwithstanding. Lieberman would become a century 21 eretz Yisroel land broker if only he had a "partner". Just like Uzi Landau, Moshe Arens...as Bibi already did. The land, THE LAND protects you all. Love the land and expel those who are as pins in your eyes back to their homicidal, Hamite peninsular hoeland of their own name. Enforce their right of return to Arabia!
4. land for peace failure
mordechai ,   yerushalaim   (09.06.07)
the lubavicher rebbe has repeatedly said it on record for years 25 years ago - noone listened then...
5. Oh, puhleeese!!! Eurabian troops to maintain security?
Debbie ,   Seattle   (09.06.07)
NATO troops, Eurabian troops, US troops - they are all helpless against a guerrilla war. This has been proven again and again. And why would they want that job? The most effective force against the Arabs is the IDF - when used properly. The IDF know the enemy and they have the highest motivation. The French and the Germans, as part of the UN, were almost ready to shoot at Israelis patrolling the border with Lebanon, while allowing Hizbullah to arm themselves to the teeth. Besides, Gaza does not want prosperity. They have a religious and nationalistic calling to destroy Israel. That's all. There's no comparison with Hong Kong. And what has Mr Lieberman done so far to fight against the government's plan? Nothing. A statement means nothing as long as he continues as part of the government. New elections are needed now, today, before Olmert gives away the country!!!
6. Lieberman is right 100%
em ,   s.f   (09.06.07)
Even if we will give them the entire State of Israel in the end they are not going to let one Jew will stay alive. You must convert to Islam or you must die. It has been the rule of Islam and it will be for ever. If we want to survive that will be only one solution. Move the entire Arabs population to Jordan
7. Alternative plan for painless end to Israeli "occupation":
Uzi ,   Haifa   (09.06.07)
Israel should let Hamas to depose Abbas and smash Fatah in Judea and Samaria, or even help Hamas to do so, in order to make it easier to abolish the PA and wipe it off the world map and consciousness. It will also open the way for the Kingdom of Jordan to take charge as the only viable nation state of all the Arabs of Greater Palestine. Having got rid of the PA, Israel and Jordan should agree on the border between them in Judea and Samaria and maybe cede Gaza to Egypt that would sort it out quite smartly. Everybody, Jews and Arabs, should continue to live in peace where they are and nobody should move from their homes or land. Israelis who would thus become residents of the Kingdom of Jordan should be given rights and conditions like the Arabs in Israel.
8. The "peace process" is the biggest sham, as in sham-poo:
Uzi ,   Haifa   (09.06.07)
The Arabs consistently demonstrate that they don't want, can't make and won't maintain real peace. They do want, however, to visibly weaken Israel by regaining territory without 'giving' anything, least of all real peace. They ignore that "possession is nine tenths of the law" and that it's rather the Arabs who should come forward and spell out what they offer Israel in return for what they want. They also pretend not to get it that in this case "land for peace" is both immoral and unworkable. The Arabs had used the 'territories' to threaten, pester and attack Israel before we took these territories in self defence. They continue to plan, prepare and perpetrate genocide against Israel and pretend not to see that it would be suicidal for Israel to concede anything in response to their aggressive threats and action. The Arabs must realize that the only way toward peace is that rather themselves should offer, accept and be convincingly satisfied with 'painful' territorial compromises.
9. Lieberman is right.
Isaac Haskiya ,   Kfar Glikson, Israel   (09.06.07)
Land for Peace is a bankrupt idea. The right one, today, would be Peace for Peace and we´ll negotiate about the Land.
10. We want our land back by peace or by force please
WAEL ,   Plaestine & Kuwait   (09.06.07)
we are muslims & we are proud to be muslims.we are palestinians and we are proud to be so,we are living in GAZA the small and poor land and we are proud to live in it becaus its part of our country that u rapped & took from palestine in 1948 dot act stupid people Sedrot is a colony that rapped our land firing with qassam rockets at a forced colony is not terror ,the terror is what u do and the way u react and strike .dont u feel ashame? u have the most powerfull killing machines in the world and u guys are complaining like little girl from small rockets???? oh opss am sorry i forget that israel lives on petty
11. Why are we still talking bout this?
marya ,   sacramento,USA   (09.06.07)
Remember Nicolae Ceausescu?
12. There was a lot more terror before the pullout
Leo   (09.06.07)
I want to remind Mr. Liberman that during the 90s we had a lot more terror than we do today. As always Liberman's short time memory serves his fascist views.
13. Lieberman is right
Brod ,   USA   (09.06.07)
Lieberman is right. Land for peace is a fallacy. The fact is since their emergence in the Arabian Desert in the 7th century, the Islamist-Jihadists have been crusading their Jihadism in the region and throughout the non-Islamist world. Their goal is to subdue, dominate and islamize non-Islamist countries. Israel is in the frontline of their Jihadism. The Free World should support Israel in confronting and defeating the forces of Jihadism instead of being fooled, manipulated and pressured by them to do their dirty work on Israel. Land for peace is an Islamiist-Jihadist crap to fool the world of their real agenda which is the destruction of Israel. Meanwhile, the Conference should be cancelled as it is a distraction to the real threat facing Israel and the Free World, that is, Iran is feverishly working on its nukes so that it can accomplish its evil intention of annihilating Israel as the President of Iran has repeatedly warned. The greatest threat in the region are the Wahhabhist Saudis who are behind Al Queda and other Islamist-Jihadist terrorist networks in the world-in Iraq, Canada, America, Europe, Africa, Russia, Afghanistan, Wazaristan, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. Next are the Ayatollahists and their networks/tentacles surrounding Israel-Hezbollah, Syria, Hamas, Jihadist Fatah and the Shiites in Iraq and the region as a whole. Now, that the Ayatollahs are feverishly working on their nukes and building their arsenals, their ambition in the region and the world is to vaporize Israel and undermine America's national interests in the region and threaten the Free World with nukes in crusading their Jihadism. The Free World must support Israel in confronting and defeating both evil forces-Wahhabhists and Ayatollahists that are hellbent in crusading their Jihadism to the non-Islamist world by subduing, dominating and islamizing them.

Sagi ,   Israel   (09.06.07)
You are the one who is missing the point. In the case of Egypt and Jordan the land returned was their land, it was theirs by international convention and Israel never disputed this. It was taken in war and returned in peace. In the case of the Palestinians the facts, both historical and on the ground are entirely different. There is no international convention concerning the land known as Judea and Samaria, it has been in dispute since the end of The First World War and any "borders" are in fact armistice lines and this carries a different definition under international law. The problem is not to return land for peace, the problem is which land to return and to whom. We can only give land to the Palestinians when they are prepared to recognize final borders, act and conduct themselves as responsible members of the international community and stop inculcating their society with hatred for us, their neighbors, who will remain as such forever and a day.
15. I believe in "Land for Peace" ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (09.06.07)
We keep the Land, we'll have peace And as for Mr. Lieberman - tough talk with no action is meaningless, quit the coalition or shut-up..
16. so how does he explain the massive terror before pullout??
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.06.07)
before the pullout of gaza, rockets tunnels, suicide bombings, nad shooting attacks. after pullout, all continue but much less frequent (due to security measures as the fence/wall) except rockets (which are ongoing because the government refuses to act decisively). bottom line, terror was/is/will be there whether israel concedes land or not. terror continues because israel is not willing to do what it takes to stop it.
17. Lieberman should topple Olmert's gov't! Bibi for PM!
Roni   (09.06.07)
18. Ben Temalion #3 You are RIGHT!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (09.06.07)
19. Lieberman is so dumb
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.06.07)
...he doesn't understand that that the initial penetration led to the "pregnancy" of terror, not the pullout
20. Although I agree with #3....
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (09.06.07)
For the moment, apparently,Libermann ideas are the best. At least he seems to understant that there is no way of coexistence among arabs -specially muslims-and Jews in Israel. There is distrust among the two people;they don't do Army;they don't like us and we don't like them;they live among us physicaly but absolutely disconected from us and we from them. They are culturally different from us and we from them.Nothing matches! They must live among their owns, and we among our owns. 100 years of tryings seems to be enough already. I think Liberman has a much more pragmatic approach to the problem. "Bain marie" works for a while, but not for ever.More radical measures will need to be taken sooner or later, and at least he seems to wish so,but as all polititians when in power...we never know. But to implement Liberman's policies,we must stand up a period of economical changes. But ,as no real change can be accomplished without sacrifices,we must stand with this one too. The fact that the health and social system would be eased without part of the arab population, helps in equilibrating things.
21. You are right
Jack   (09.06.07)
I think you need to come to terms with Netanyahu and Arens, you need to join with them and call for immediated elections and bring down this Olmert left govt. and his other left partners and not let a worse fate happen to Israel.
22. Of course it backfired!!!
DR ,   Florida, USA   (09.06.07)
We are dealing with people who want us gone from the region. They do not even attempt to hide this fact and say it openly all the time. How come some of us still don't see this???
23. "Peacekeeping"
Rick ,   Bmore   (09.06.07)
Peacekeepers are nice as long as everything stays peaceful. But as soon as there is trouble they start to get jumpy and make deals with the aggressive side. Don't trust peacekeepers unless they have demonstrated that they will stay the course if bullets fly and blood flows. A peacekeeper who will succumb to attacks and give up real aggressive "peacekeeping" is not worth having. (See Spain, et al.) The Spanish saved their butts by cutting a deal with the aggressors. Same thing would happen in Gaza with Europeans.
24. the ignorant's vision
observer   (09.06.07)
The Babylonian Talmud (Pesachim 49b) states that Jewish ignoramuses are greater anti-Semites than Gentiles. The Zohar (Exodus 7b) declares that at the "end of days" certain wicked Jews will become the allies of Israel's enemies. The two state solution is not a camouflage. It's a crystal clear, non-disputable two Jewish states solution: One for the Torah-100% Jews and One for the secular FSU immigrants, converted Jews and the alike. There is no place for a "half" state in between
25. #19 Sure! terror-son was not his, he was only 9 years boy,

26. Retreat & concessions haven't merely failed. They've been a
Chaim   (09.14.07)
Israeli concessions and retreats haven't merely failed. They've been a total disaster. Most our our national tragedies are products of concessions, retreats and the "peace process". Thank Oslo, the South Lebanon and Gaza retreats for thousands of rockets on our major cities, tens of thousands of murdered and maimed civilians and much more. Before Oslo, Israel suffered about a dozen terror casualties annually. After Oslo, casualties rocketed into the tens of thousands! It IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CITE ONE REAL BENEFIT ISRAEL HAS ENJOYED FROM HER HUNDREDS OF CONCESSIONS AND RETREATS! Concessions must be outlawed. Israel needs resounding victory over "Palestinians" and no concessions whatsoever. Just was it was the Allies' resounding victory over Germany and Japan (with no concessions) which brought peace to Europe and Asia.
