1. What crap!
safed Israel   (09.06.07)
2. Standing Headline ! and more BS
Alan Barth ,   Bet Shemesh, ISR   (09.06.07)
In newspaper parlance, this is just another already written headline and report that the Leftists and Israel bashers dragged out now in advance of Bush's conference. The same false statistics, 'facts' and suppositions are used to justify the position they wrote a year ago. These characters could not find evidence of the Holocaust even if they were standing in Auschwitz or Bergen-Belsen.
3. HRW already known for its bias
JPS ,   Efrat   (09.06.07)
Unfortunately, HRW has a history of unbalanced and biased reporting of what they consider to be "human rights" violations. HRW for the most part simply ignores the root causes of their reports against Israel (Hezbollah launched an unprovoked cross-border attack, then indiscriminately and purposefully fired anti-personnel rockets at civilian areas), and this report is just another example. Had they consulted any air combat experts, they would learn that in 21st century air combat there is almost no such thing as "indiscriminate" bombing from the air. Unlike WW2 when hundreds of bombers on a single sortie would drop thousands of bombs on a "target", modern bombers for the most part drop a single bomb on an exact location. If HRW has a problem with how the IAF selected its targets, then it should say so. To call it "indiscriminate" is simply to show their ignorance of what they are supposed to be reporting on.
4. Hizbullah threatens and gets what it wants
JG   (09.06.07)
"Human Rights Watch had to cancel a similar news conference in Beirut last month because of threats of Hizbullah protests. That report accused Hizbullah of firing rockets indiscriminately at civilian areas in Israel. "
5. Let's Invite HRW to Sderot
Rebab ,   Ranana   (09.06.07)
Or better... to South of Lebanon, or Gaza...
6. Human Right watch : Garbage association
Yiannis Kareklas ,   Athens Greece   (09.06.07)
Everything is done on the israeli side to avoid hurting / injuring civilians . Records prove it. No other nation is up to Israel in this respect. Now , do you want this Human Right Garbage Association make us believe that Hamas was playing with firecrackers sent to Israel during the 2nd Lebanon war ? Destroy this garbage.
7. What's New?
Joe ,   NZ   (09.06.07)
Human Rights always finds faults with Israel. They never really look for the truth they only look to see how they can condemn Israel.
8. #1 Blind Rejection
Aharon   (09.06.07)
Unfortunately, I believe them. I believe that we went on this war for no good reason, with no real objectives, and no knowledge of the capabilities of our enemies - and since our government was too weak to admit this, it had to make it look like it was doing something. The only thing to do was bomb civilian positions, because frankly, there was simply no way to know which were civilian positions, and which weren't. Blind rejection such as yours does not serve Israel's cause at all. We need to acknowledge that this deliberate targetting of civilians was simply another manifestation of this government's incompetence.
9. Scared of Hezbollah: Their PR Agency
Semsem ,   New York, USA   (09.06.07)
These bigots are scared of Hezbollah and work on behalf of their Public Relations department.
10. hahahaha gotta love this article.
Harry ,   Kansas   (09.06.07)
Well its about time people started using their brains. I want to know why Hezbollah is still so popular among the south if they are using their family members, friends, relatives etc as human shileds? Sounds illogical doesn't it!!! Just remember Israel. Truth prevails!!
11. Innocent People
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (09.06.07)
It was once said (I believe by the Ramchal) that innocent people get killed in wars. That is a reality. We may not like it, it might not be just, but that's just the way it is. Live with it.
12. IDF acts like a terrorist organization
Omar   (09.06.07)
Anyone who denies it is a liar. Shelling population centers is a common practice by the IDF. The destruction in Beirut, from which no rockets where launched against Israel, is the best proof for that.
13. If Israel realy was trying to kill civilians
Robert Tilden   (09.06.07)
If Human Rights Watch was correct and Israel was indiscriminating between Hizbullah and civilians then would only 1100 Lebanese been killed? If Israel did not make efforts not to kill civilians Lebanon would have lost 50,000 or 100,000 people.
14. Send this report to the Gaza sewage plant for further
processing ,   jan, usa   (09.06.07)
15. and rocket firing on Haifa not indiscriminate ?
(09.06.07)
16. Very Simple
MIKEUSA ,   USA   (09.06.07)
Hizbollah is a group voted into office by the people of lebanon. This group illegally entered another country, Israel, and killed its soldiers, kidnapped its soldiers, and fired rockets at israeli civillians. Israel even gave them 48 hrs to return the soliders, they said no. So basically, what hizbollah did was NOT a terror attack! It was an act of war, and Israel responded. Israel should've responded harder, but I know my govt. wouldn't let them...stupid bush .
17. Newt Gingrich says it all on YouTube
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (09.06.07)
Israel is to blame for everything from the Creation to Hurricane Felix! Hezbollah bombed the North and killed and kidnapped out soldiers. It’s our fault! Human Rights Watch where are the Human Rights of Gilad Shalit, Udi Goldwasser, Eldad Regev, Ron Arad, Guy Hever, Zecharya Baumel, Yehuda Katz and Zvi Feldman? The Arabs, well killing, beheading, stoning to death, dismembering and all the other niceties associated with Islamic Fundamentalism and not so Fundamentalist Islam are “acceptable” as Allah's work and, of course, they cannot be wrong in their obedience. Maybe oil has something to do with it? Please have a look at this on YouTube and wait for the Israel bit towards the end. http://youtube.com/watch?v=sN9cqtJTvF4 These "Do Good" organizations like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International condemn Israel as part of the global anti-Semitic campaign that we are seeing today and the close their eyes to countries like Myanmar (Burma), Russia, China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe and so on where Human Rights are violated every day. We won’t even discuss Darfur and the Sudan! Why? It’s much easier to blame Israel and the Jewish people and the irony of it all is that we have Jews and Israelis who help them to disseminate their hatred. They are called Peace Now and B’tzelem, supported ably by some of our Meretz MK’s.
18. HRW always sympathizes Hezbollah. Is it H(ezbollah)RW?
KMR ,   Middle East   (09.06.07)
19. The Propaganda War Against Israel
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (09.06.07)
We are doing a really poor job of countering anti-Israel propaganda by left-wing NGO's. These groups are very selective in their criticism - meaning they virtually ignore human rights abuses everywhere else in the world, they hold Israel to an impossible standard of behavior, & they frequently misrepresent the actual circumstances in their reporting. By not aggressively attacking the credibility of these organizations, we are losing the propaganda war against us - and the loss of favourable public opinion will lead to the loss of political support. As in every other aspect of the war against us, our gov't. (and past gov't's as well since Oslo) is on the defensive. We react, feebly at best, rather than adopt proactive measures.
20. ha! only imagine if IAF strikes were actually indiscriminate
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.06.07)
the death toll would have been at least 50,000 with the amount of ordinance delivered if israel was remotely indiscriminate. lebanon should be THANKING israel for restricting collateral damage to the degree it did, despite hizbullah's cynical use of human shields.
21. hullo Dana and Mama
(09.06.07)
Yuk!
22. Israel is the BEST country in the world
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.06.07)
watch and see our lovely Israel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5tDDkvXSI8 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeVvMJdvEX8&watch_response
23. this is wht u get when u r afraid of terrorists
haim ,   mtl canada   (09.06.07)
and this will only get worst for ISRAEL we r alone in this fight and with OLMERDE i see no chance to win CHANA TOVA TO ALL BROS
24. Israel is as bad as Hezbollah
John ,   London,UK   (09.06.07)
Israel and Hezbollah both are accused by a neutral UN body of targeting civilians. This means tey are as bad as each other. One would expect Hezbollah to do such thing, but never Israel. Israel is supposed to be a civilised democracy. When Israel bombs civilians then it has no right to point fingers at others. Killing innocent civilians is wrong under any circumstances. No wonder Israel was defeat in its war against Hezbollah. When you behave immorally what do you expet but disgrace. Hezbollah smashed the so-called mighty army. Israel lost its reputation of invinsibility. There was a time in 1967 that Israel could conquer 3 nations in 6 days. In 2006, it could not destroy Hezbollah in 30 days. Israel needs to either get back its lost prestige, or give up the idea of military action and sit down with Arabs and learn to talk, instead of fighting. Israel will lose out, and maybe even get wiped off the map, if it does not change course very soon. Iran is wating in to finish Israel.
25. Recent strikes by Lebanese army against Fatah Islam
selective memory ,   usa   (09.06.07)
Anyone from Human Rights Watch care to comment on the number of civilians killed by the Lebanese army when they razed a Palestinian refugee camp to the ground? Still waiting for condemnation...
26. Enough with printing this garbage!!!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (09.06.07)
If you don't want civilian deaths, don't start a war. It's simple logic.
27. #10 to Harry
meg ,   Israel   (09.06.07)
Can really tell you are from Kansas! Seems you no nothing of the mentality or the tyrants that rule with threats.
28. HRW....
meg ,   Israel   (09.06.07)
are you going to check out the Fatah/Hamas civil war? the horrors that when on there, but not publicized in the media, or are you just happy bashing a country that fights to survive and protect its people. Were you there, did you see? guess not!
29. #12, #10, #8
sam ,   tel aviv   (09.06.07)
Let's say you are moral people and actually care about Arab civilians. What about Nahr al-Bared? Do you condemn the Lebanese government for killing innocent Arabs?
30. #29
Aharon   (09.06.07)
I didn't say anything about caring for anyone. I pointed out the simple facts that everyone here is intent on denying. I dont dispute that HRW and all these other leftist human rights groups have double standards, but that doesn't make their accusations against Israeli any more wrong.
