11. I was so lategetting 2 Wembley, I missed the Hatikva
Disorganized ,   London, UK   (09.09.07)
Thx Richard for letting me know about disgraceful behaviour - now I'm glad I missed it. I thought the crowd were behaving disgustingly, booing and whistling whenever an IL player was down on the ground, possibly injured, including the goal-keeper. I was unfortunately sitting in the England section & they were making horrible comments. Pro-Palestinian demos on the way in, with Nazi chanting (I asked the police 2 video them, 4 what it's worth!). Not fun! Still, it was good to wave my IL flag when I could find the courage to take it out of my bag!
12. Televise Shachar Pe'er next time

and learn your lesson, you TV clones. What british ugliness filled our israeli screens last night, yuk. Shachar no, ugly brits yes. That just about sums you up there in ugly tv land.
13. Hatikvah/Racism
Andrew ,   London   (09.09.07)
I am a Jewish football fan from England and I was at Wembley to see the game. I also consider myself a zionist and I have to say that I am amazed at some of the postings accusing Engald fans of anti-semitism at Wembley. Firstly I thought Hatikvah was very well respected by the crowd and recieved very positivley compared to many other countries anthems. There was hardly any booing whatsoever which for and England crowd is unusual ( the booing at the last game for the German anthem was ear crackling) and it was appluaded by a large number of fans when it finished. There was a demo by about 100 Palestinians and supporters on the main walk way to the stadium and they appeared to be getting alot of abuse from England fans who did'nt want politics mixed up with football. Also I thought there were alot more fans than usual wearing half England/Israel scarfs. Football fans are always going to boo the opposition players but to call this anti-semitism is naive, ultra sensitive and frankly embarrasing!
14. Football fans mentality
Adam ,   Ramat Gan   (09.09.07)
As an ex-patriot of England (Manchester) and an avid football fan and attender of many Manchester United and England games, the behaviour reported does not surprise me. Apart from the pro Palestinian demos (as expected as left wing politics are popular in the UK) outside the ground before and the mindless idiots making antisemitic chats, everything else sounds like typical anti opposition tactics by the England supporters. It will happen again when England play Russia on Wednesday. They will boo and whistle at the Russian national anthem and when the Russian players touch the ball as well as chanting distasteful songs. Israel is a softer target with the Jewish people's tragic history and the political situation. The average English football fan is a beer drinking, ill educated, stupid yet passionate idiot. In the past Liverpool fans used to sing when they played Manchester United about the Munich air disaster, which killed many of the 1958 Manchester United team (Manchester City fans still do!). In return Manchester United fans (as well as those from many other clubs) sung about the 1989 Hillsborough disaster where 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death!! As a compromise that one disaster cancelled out the other, both Manchester United and Liverpool both stopped singing these sick, distasteful songs! This is the footbal fan mentality, it is not overtly anti-Semitic or racist as these things have been mainly stamped out (its probably not as bad as Beitar fans' anti-Arab songs!) it is just anti everything that is not pro their team!
15. Why were Israel so awful?
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (09.09.07)
Firstly having read the above remarks let me say that I switched on just after kick-off so I can't comment about any booing of the Israeli anthem. As regards the football, believe me, despite the raving in the English media after the match England are a mediocre team. I was, however, very disappointed with Israel. They were absolutely awful. They came to the match with the wrong attitude ("a draw would be a great result") and did nothing at all in a match they just had to win. Barring a series of freak results, Israel's chances of qualifying for Euro 2008 have now disappeared.
16. What is wrong with you
David ,   Linthicum, USA   (09.10.07)
I bet you are!!!!!!! Too bad your team has no shot of winning anything. Oh, that's right, you have no country.
17. Not on Shabbat, never again
Meir ,   Beit Shemesh   (09.10.07)
When will someone in the IFA realise, that in all the match the team has played on Shabbat, never have they won. It is high time to demand fromm the IFA that they never ever play again on Shabbat. Anything else would be treason.
