31. Uh, they are joining US in OUR celebration
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.12.07)
In doing so, they are doing as was done during late Temple days when Romans and others from neighboring countries joined the Jews during their pilgrimage festivals. These rabbinic "leaders" seem to have little faith in their own flock if they think merely socializing with others will lead them astray. I've encountered missionaries and Jews for Jesus in the past; most I just ignored. The cult-like J for J learned soon enough I could not be swayed. What kind of ortho-wusses are they educating that they're afraid of such encounters?
32. Sukkot Parade
Rachel ,   S. Africa   (09.12.07)
One just wonders how many of the comments come from people who have actually taken part in the Jerusalem march. You cannot have an opinion about something you know nothing about. For the past 2 and half decades Christian pilgrims have been taking part in this march in solidarity with Israel. I defy anyone to produce evidence of any missionary activity carried out during those marches. For goodness sake, Israel, appreciate your friends, don't stab them in the back!
33. More evidence that...
Yossi ,   Levittown, PA, USA   (09.12.07)
there MAY be an inverse relationship between the length of one's beard and common sense! How, in 5768, do we continue to have such incompetent leaders? Probably because we deserve them? L'Shanah Tovah!
34. The only missionary position I see is
Shimmon ,   Tzfat   (09.12.07)
The only missionary position I see is the same position they take about destroying Israel thru Olmerts( and the left's) crazy plan. Who cares about Christians when the mixed multitude destroy the country and the Rabbis hide behind stupidity
35. #31 Why would a Jew want to march in a parade filled with
homosexuals in a ,   rainbow parade?????   (09.12.07)
36. The rabbis remind me of King Herod who was jealous @ Yashuas

37. Only Ask Rabbiis What They Know
Moshe Eisenstein ,   Munster, Indiana   (09.12.07)
As usual the Chief Rabbinate of Israel as stepped in dung when they comment about that which they do not know. Since when has being a Rabbi made you knowledgable about everything? This is a subjec of which they have no experience or knowledge. It is like asking them if someone should have brain surgery. Any person who follows these human beings on questions of which they have no knowledge, is an idiot like them.
38. Fear
A Jew ,   Jerusalem   (09.12.07)
When I was a kid my mother told me that predjudice is ignorance. I thought she meant uneducated people. Now I realize that she meant people who don't know God!
39. rabbis caught in the cross fire
(09.12.07)
if they agree, it's hypocrisy. if they disagree, it hatred. As a brainless, I would chose the second.

41. Past Parade Problems?
Christy ,   Boston, USA   (09.13.07)
I'm assuming this stance must be based upon some history that isn't mentioned here. Have the Christian marchers been the cause of mass-conversions in years past? My understanding is that many Christian Groups are starting to explore the Jewish Roots of Christianity much more than has been done in years past. This coincides with the Christian Evangelicals becoming much more vocal in their support of Israel. Evangelicals have been holding various forums around the US urging fellow Evangelicals to obey Scripture and support Israel.
42. Since when do we not celebrat chagim out of fear?
Sam ,   NYC, USA   (09.13.07)
43. excuse my ignorance, but...
Observer ,   Austin   (09.13.07)
I was not raised in any religion, but as I understand it, Jews aren't allowed to mix meat and dairy because thousands of years ago Canaanites boiled calves in milk as pagan fertility rituals. So, I'm not sure how the rabbis' proscribing participation in a parade where there's a not unreasonable chance of some Christian missionizing is out of line with usual halachic decisions in rabbinical Judaism. I mean, however small the chance of a conversion to Christianity resulting from the parade is, it seems at least a slightly larger chance than the chance of reverting to Canaanite paganism because of spreading parmesan on your spaghetti and meatballs.
44. Sounds like another gay old parade to me.
Mark ,   Elrom, Israel   (09.13.07)
45. Rabbis and Christians
NYC Girl   (09.13.07)
Being in the business of religion, perhaps these rabbis are naive when it comes to certain realities, and one is that Evengelical Christians are among Israel's most ardent supporters and they don't hesitate to use their considerable political influence, especially in America, on Israel's behalf. So, on balance, the fear that there are suddenly going to be mass conversions of Jews as a result of a parade, is probably overshadowed by the good will that can be gained by ignoring this pronouncement by these rabbis with their scare tactics.
46. #41 So the problem of urging people to support Israel is
what? That's a good ,   thing.!!!!!!!   (09.13.07)

augustine e johnson ,   birmingham, - usa   (09.13.07)
sure Xians believe in preaching the gospel of yeshua even to israel -- but we are 100 percent for israel ie. an expanded , bigger israel , new 3rd temple -- and jews can decide to bel;ieve in yeshua as the messiah or not without any coersion -- shalom === augustine e johnson

Thanks for supporting us . Hold your preaches for non Jews , not for us .
53. leviticus 23:1 the appointed seasons of the Lord
de sterix   (09.13.07)
they are not the appointed seasons that are the personal property of anyone else be they jews or israelites or rabbis or christians. those that are israelites and those that want to become israelites and those that love G-D should be keeping His holytimes if they want to please Him and become His children.the holiest day in the year atonement : those that refuse to keep it G-D says He will destroy from among His people------i assume this goes for those also that would try to prevent people that G-D is dealing with from participating in this day as well.if the authorities dont want to help the "strangers amongst us" keep G-Ds feast days they should at least not try to hinder them and get themselves in G-Ds way.
54. Free and Resonsible Jewish Israel !
ariel ,   Israel   (09.14.07)
What other country on earth (including USA) allows foreigners to come in and have a parade in her capital? What other country on earth which has a strong specific historical religious foundation (including every Moslem theocratic state) allows any other religion this kind of freedom of expression? Here we allow the both the kooky christians and the rabid rabbis the freedom to express their beliefs. If either get out of hand, we can vote to change things. They should both remember this! Thank God for a free and responsible Jewish Israel!
55. Ariel
charles ,   petach tikva   (09.14.07)
What other country has foreign supporters , who want to show their support by coming there and have a parade in their eternel Capital ? Let them come , and enjoy their parade . Let them come to show their support . But dear friends of our country , don't come to preach or to try to convert some of us , that's something we can't accept .

60. from "israel 4 yeshua" to #55
augustine e johnson ,   birmingham --usa   (09.14.07)
yes we love israel -- a bigger israel, new 3rd temple - torah into all the world , etc.-- but yeshua said to preach the gospel to every creature -- why should we neglect israel - the lost sheep of israel ? -- jews4jesus are everywhere here in the usa, so many jewish believers in yeshua even in israel -- so we should preach to the lost sheep of israel also -- no coersion -- but i think we have the better arguments - of course you can decide ----- shalom to all israel == augustine e johnson - birmingham alabama - usa
