Thomas ,   Cleveland, USA   (09.13.07)
Give it a decade, when it comes out that perhaps Turkey's interests may have been hurt by Syria they will thank you. Just like America did in 1991 when they realized how lucky they were that Sadaam was not a nuclear power thanks to Israel in 1981
2. turkey helped
jeremy ,   hula valley kibbutz   (09.13.07)
Of course Turkey helped out. Besides, we train our aircrews in Turkey, who's to say those fuel pods weren't from some old training exercise.
3. It's getting more interesting by the minute!

AHA...the plot thickens.......
6. This story has grown legs.
Persian CAT   (09.13.07)
If this is true, which I doubt simply because it comes from an unreliable source - I don't think any Arab source is reliable, period - then this is probably the worse thing Israel could have had happened to it after the humiliating defeat by Hezbollah not long ago. This means Israel is perfectly ready to collude with Turkish military to plot against the openly elected civilian government of an ALLY country! This even gets worse from here, because the military aims of this clumsily executed "adventure" is unclear and I don't think creating "a big hole" in the desert was worth the political sunami that will ensue. Israel will be eating a lot of crow for a long time. The question is whether this was an arrangement between the IAF and the Turkish military WITHOUT Israeli's government's explicit authorization or not? I think the only thing that can save Israeli government from the backlash is to announce that they did not authorize it and keep eating crow.
7. thats funny!
Turkishman   (09.13.07)
Its funny how the turkish army who is the one really in charge of Turkey is accusing the new government and president already for lack of response to the smuggling of weapons between Iran and Syria!! who is exactly supposed to do this kind of work? may be Gul and Arslan are expected to carry their guns and stand by the fence!!!
8. Turkey
Thomas ,   Cleveland, USA   (09.13.07)
Turkey's is the only military in the ME that does military training with Israel. It only makes sense that they knew about it. On another note, Persian CAT, where do you draw the conclusion that the war last summer was a defeat? The fact that they were forced out of south Lebanon or that they haven't been able to launch an attack since?
9. So did they attack or just photograph
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (09.13.07)
a potential nuke site? Either way I feel that if the Koreans are selling nuclear technology one would believe that any agreements they have with the US would be at that point be null and void. They should once again feel the thumb screws of economic sanctions and international isolation
10. Good news to the nation of Israel
Elias ,   Damascus   (09.13.07)
many surprises to happen in the next two years God bless Russia & N.Korea I see hunders of thousands of missels in the sky of Israel ,
11. Elias from Damascus
Al ,   US   (09.13.07)
yeah, Elias, go ahead, sent a few rockets toward Al-Aqsa Mosque ("oops we didn't want to hit it"). Don't just forget that Damascus is only 60 km away from Golan Heights.
12. Elias#10
Thomas ,   Cleveland, USA   (09.13.07)
Pleasant suprises indeed when Damascus is razed in response to those "Hundreds of thousands of missles". Just like the last war, Syria will be crushed like the lowly maggot it is.
13. #10, to Elias in Damascus
Marc ,   Nice, France   (09.13.07)
Yes, probably many surprises, and/or more big holes in the desert (or anywhere else, as you wish ? :) BTW : Do you remember Damascus (where you live) is only 15 km from the frontier ? ;-) Think of it, Elias. And be careful with things you see flying in the sky...
14. I think the Persian cat is deluding
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (09.13.07)
himself again! Hezbollah didn't defeat Israel the just weren't crushed. As far as Israel "colluding" with Turkey against a openly elected government (and I suppose you mean Syria here) I don't feel a election where you have one choice to vote for counts as a legitimate election anywhere but in that uniquely warped mindset that characterizes the muslim mind. I also wonder how you can claim Israels flight was "Clumsy" it seems to me they got what they wanted and I bet broke the sound barrier to either wake the Syrians up and let them know they were there or in celebration of a mission accomplished. And last but not least you fricken muslims in general and Arabs in particular have been eating crow for a 1000 years. Send Israel a recipe. I'm sure you have thousands.
15. It was a practice to bomb IRAN you cannot twist!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul_Turkey   (09.13.07)
First ISRAEL does not need any Turkish official for Syria, Syrian upper ranks are full of Mossad Agents. Even Syria's support to PKK movement in last 20 years was proveked and managed by those Mossad Agents in Syrian upper ranks! Second Israel and USA arming and training Kurdish separatist against Iran&Turkey and Turkey DOES NOT SUPPORT ISRAELI or US ADVENTURE AGAINST IRAN! Neither Army(who is Kemalist: peace in the nation peace in the world!) nor Civilian Authorities, except for some possible Israeli Agents inflitrated under several covers like FREEMASONS etc. You cannot fool any!

Desert Storm Vet ,   SA, TX USA   (09.13.07)
From Elias from Damascus: "many surprises to happen in the next two years God bless Russia & N.Korea I see hunders of thousands of missels in the sky of Israel , Elias , Damascus (09.13.07) " I kind of doubt that will happen, much to your dismay. Remember, the nation you currently live in hosts Hezbollah and assists with Iran in a proxy war against Israel. If you folks want to raise the ante, well, as Clint Eastwood would say: "Go ahead. Make my day!"
21. #6: If you really believed anything you write
(09.13.07)
you wouldn't keep writing it, especially on our website. And as long as there is a website and an Israel, Hizbollah has failed.
22. Well Turkey
Andrew ,   Dartmouth,NS, Canada   (09.13.07)
You wanted to know were those fuel tanks came from well it just shot you in the arm.
23. #14, let me help you...
Persian CAT   (09.13.07)
with your less-than-adequate reading comprehensio: 1. Read the article's title 2. I was referring to the Turkish government - read the entire article Please do Ohio a favor by not dumbing it down.
24. SURPRISE THAT THE TURKISH SECRET SERVICE WORKS WITH ISRAEL
HAL TRIPP ,   LA PAZ, BOLIVIA   (09.13.07)
IF IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE THAT TO HAVE ISRAELI AGENTS IN IRAN AND SYRIA SO WE GET TURKEY TO HELP US OUT,THEIR BORDER WITH SYRIA IS NOT VERY WELL PROTECTED AND TO GET THEIR AGENTS IN IRAN WOULD NOT BE A GREAT ENDEAVOUR.WE FORGET THAT TURKEY WAS THE ONLY ISLAMIC COUNTRY TO VOTE FOR ISRAELI STATEHOOD
25. Elias the Dreamer
Soupy ,   New England   (09.13.07)
Check your history books, Elias. Syria is IMPOTENT against Israel and will remain that way unless she makes a bad miscalculation which will lead to her escape from impotence into non-existence.
26. Tayfun #15
Maurice ,   Montreal   (09.13.07)
You might not like it but it is a fact that Turkey and Israel ARE allies and have been training together for many years now. Given this fact, and given that Turkey does not want to see a Shiite country like Iran to gain power and nuclear arms in the Middle East, it makes perfectly sense that Turkey has helped Israel wit this attack. Also, the Israeli government is not that stupid that they would want to anger their only true ally in the middle-east by flying through Turkish air-space without permission. I beleive this story is totally true.
27. #23, I believe I have had no trouble
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (09.13.07)
reading what you wrote. My responses to your wishful thinking were more than correct. Where are those recipes for crow?
28. #14 Syria has to strike back, only to throw over
(09.13.07)
the government; the Israelis don't like.
29. Turkish Delight
Obama ,   Washington DC   (09.14.07)
Obviously, Turkey knows what the consequences would be if Syria nuke development grows legs. Next, Turkey would be helping Israel to take out Iran or we would not be having any Thanksgiving next year
