1. With a different caption the cartoon might have been
Rivkah   (09.19.07)
acceptable to the Moslems. "Aborted Moslem baby used in head transplant research." There is a book called "Prescription: Death" written by a physician that says such experiments ARE done with babies born alive when aborted. They are not recorded as living humans, so head transplant surgeries is one of the things that has been done to them. THAT SHOULD BE STOPPED.
2. Uh, yeah Rivkah
david   (09.19.07)
That is an excellent point.
3. I'm wondering what this guy has proved?!!!
Persian CAT   (09.19.07)
and would those who applauded him would have done so if it were Christ's head drawn attached to a pig's body? Personally I can care less, but I wouldn't mind sees this guy's head attached to a pig's ass by some burley MUSLIM.
4. for fear it could lead to idolatry & be abused
(09.19.07)
by Swedish artist. Muslims do not consider dogs unclean animals, but for pigs and monkeys they do!
5. I don't get it...
Khaled ,   Lebanon   (09.19.07)
It's true that I come from a country where personal freedoms, especially freedom of speech, are not as highly regarded as they are in the "civilized west," but I fail to see how someone could actually be applauded for what seems to be an unoriginal even childish cartoon that whose sole purpose is to offend the religion of a billion people worldwide... Please someone explain this mentality to me... Ever since the original row over the Danish newspaper cartoons, I've been struggling to understand this mentality that sees deliberate offense to religion as praiseworthy.
6. Let the artist be!!!
Harry ,   Kansas   (09.19.07)
He's just small minded man who is unhappy with his life and wants to make others feel the same way. His judgement will be with God on that day. If someone gets a chance to communicate with this man, inform him that whether he draws a million of these drawings or not, the religion of Prophet Muhammad will always be the fastest growing religion in the world!
7. maybe the whole point is...to the gentleman from Lebanon
Micha   (09.19.07)
that freedom of speech is so powerful. But it doesn't exist in the arab world. Perhpas we would use the expression "It's a western thing, you wouldn't understand." Come to the west and see. Obviously many in Iran are interested in western things but they live in a country that is so repressive. One day the people will rise up. Likely this will be the women who have been so oppressed by the men. then we will see real change.

The next time I see a religion-based cartoon that is actually funny, it will be the first time. Criticising different religions is fair game. Ridiculing religion shows meanness and a poverty of spirit that is in urgent need of healing.
9. and YNET doesnt see it proper to show us
(09.19.07)
cartoon? u r scared of muslims kicking yo left ass?
10. Muhammed
Chris ,   Sweden   (09.19.07)
I believe that a guy like Mohammed, flying around on his bewinged horse, wouldn´t take this cartoon to serious.
11. A cartoon speaks a million words

This guy said today in the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter: "I wanted to show the agenda within the art world - there is no criticism against the muslim world, only against Israel and the U.S.A.
13. Art is successful when it inspires - swedish artists suck
andrew ,   miami,f;   (09.19.07)
these are the same people who came up with the terror boat - the israeli minister years ago smashed it how bout we make art of all the girls in stckholm being raped by north africans
14. O.K. to Publish Cartoon
Jerry Sussman ,   Alexandria, USA   (09.19.07)
Let's not confuse two points: One is whether or not the artist and editor had the right to publish the cartoon; the second is whether or not the publication of the cartoon showed poor judgment. On the first point, there can be no serious disagreement: the right to publish this cartoon ought not to be questioned. An offense to the viewer's sensibilities is insufficient reason to enjoin publication. On the second point--that the publication was offensive to established religious precepts--it needs only be observed that similar censorship prevailed until the Protestant Reformation in Europe. Must we return to the days when criticism was meant with torture or burning at the stake? A final word to those who suggest that Muslims have an equal right to vent outrage at the cartoon as would a Christian offended by an unflattering display of Jesus. Perhaps. But I think not. We are at War against so-called "radical" Islam. Political--and religious--satire and charicatures are most appropriate under present circumstances. Moreover, as elsewhere often has been observed, the histories, philosophies, and current means and objectives of Christianity nowhere compare to those of radical Islam. The reaction to this cartoon ougth not to be excuse or condemnation. Rather, every newspaper in Europe, America, Australia and elsewhere ought to publish this cartoon--and others similar to it--with the same fervor as they published cartoons of Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo during WWII, and the Kaiser during WWI.
15. my opinion is...
Ghost of Bill Hicks ,   dubai - uae   (09.19.07)
since sweeden has one of the highest rate of scuicides, this guy is looking to be killed. he is obviously a conservative christian who believes scuicide is a sin. Hence thats not an option for him because he wants to go to heaven, SOOOO being sweedish, there is a 90% probability this guy is depressed and he wants someone to pull the trigger so he can escape from his miserable life and go to heaven....and who easier than the idiots of alqaeda to provoke...hehehe...it might be true...
16. #3 - Hey Persian SHAT.....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.19.07)
That's the point: Jesus' head attached to a pig's body would offend, but would ultimately be a big yawn. ONLY muslims threaten murder and ONLY muslims riot and burn buildings when your religious sensibilities are offended. Christians don't and Jews don't. And what he's proved is that he is unafraid by the muslim murderers of the world. He's proved that muslims can't dominate the world with violence or the threat of violence.
17. To Jerry
Khaled ,   Lebanon   (09.19.07)
I agree with you that Europe feels that it's at war with "radical" Islam. But comparing cartoons of the Muslim prophet with those of Hitler and Mussolini is just making things worse. Such cartoons of Hitler during WWII were only offensive to the Nazis and since Nazis were basically killing everyone in Europe who wasn't a Nazi, I find it quite easy to justify Hitler-mocking cartoons meant to hurt the feelings of Nazis. Muhammad, however, is not a religious symbol for radical Islamists only, he is a symbol for all Muslims, and deliberately offending him is deliberately hurting the feelings of over a billion people because you're at war with a very small part of them. And all this does is create more extremism and more radicalism... Unless you think all Muslims are radical Islamists... In which case, you can forget everything I said, as I'd have nothing to say to you...

It was actually an israeli artist who made the terror boat, named Dror Feiler. I don't understand why so many here seem to have a problem with the drawing Lars Vilks made. The reaction from muslims everywhere just proves that muslims are not capable of living in civilized societies and they should be deported back to their home countries.
