4. to #1
What you witnessed in Lebanon was what happened when you don't let the IDF do what it knows. Once Amir Peretz (a labor leader) was replaced with Ehud Barak (a professional soldier) as Defense Minister, we see what the IDF can accomplish. Even in Lebanon, in the last 48 hours of war prior to the cease-fire, the IDF was allowed free rein and it moved all the way to the Litani River. Meanwhile we hear everyday the truth coming out from Hezbollah that more and more of their terrorists were killed and that the Israeli numbers given about their deaths were accurate.

Number 1 has no idea what we are capable of doing and judges us based on last year's war. I wish I could hug every one of those guys that went into Syria - they are the most amazing soldiers!! God bless them!!

9. #1: WW1 Example
In WW1, British soldiers went "Over the top" knowing they were going to certain death for no certain military advantage.
They were described as "Lions led by Donkeys!" It wasn't the soldiers fault.

10. #4 Quit your chest thumping...Israel surrendered the war
Richard S. ,
This ain't your grandmas Six Day War IDF anymore. Since Barak’s surrender of southern Lebanon to the ayatollahs, his party’s surrender to Arafat, and Kadimah's surrender of Gaza to Hamas, morale and priorities have sunk to new lows in the IDF. Especially when they were forced to violently evict their fellow citizens from their homes in Katif.
And the last thing Israel and it's supporters need is to gloss over what happened last summer filling themselves with hot air and self congrats after one Hollywood perfect successful air strike. The same cowardly Olmert and Livni, who were too scared to fight a ground war lest mounting casualties would destroy them in the polls, are still leading Israel. They chose to surrender to Nasrallah and allowed him to re-arm to unimaginable new levels. And remember CLEARLY and CAREFULLY...Barak is the COWARD who originally surrendered Southern Lebanon to the ayatollahs while he was busy kissing Arafat's diabolical feet. A big part of what just happened is Barak desperately needing these kinds of “spectacular” military ops to re-invent himself and gain in the polls. Because Likud is sure to win the next election when Teflon Olmert is eventually (God help us!) extracted from his throne.
Recently fattened by fame and power, Millionaire Barak didn't JUST invent, recruit and train the Ayelet Mektal for this operation. They existed already, like ALL Special Ops in any good army. And Special Ops and the Air Force are the Cream of the Cream. Their superior abilities are more than expected in a country that is fighting daily for it's very existence. If the elite weren’t superior, Israel would already be toast.
Israel and the IDF have a LONG way to go before they can recover their deterrent. One or two slick maneuvers, regardless of how important, won't cut it. Every day that they don't attack Gaza the enemy gains precious ground. Every day Barak is scared to cross into Gaza because of fear of casualties (again the polls) Qassams reign down on Israeli children. Every day they shirk their responsibilities to the Southern communities, more casualties will pile up for the IDF at the end of the day… when they are eventually left with no other choice but to take out an ever growing, more powerful Hamas. Taking action on the ground takes a lot more bravery, courage and skill than a few Special Ops and sophisticated air maneuvers with lots of post chest thumping. And being truthful about last summer’s Surrender is essential in regaining the high ground in Israel’s constant fight for survival.
