Undoubtedly he was having loads of fun in Beirut - such a sophisticated and refined social scene - but he was an Israeli citizen, never having revoked his nationality. Many Israelis have chosen to go and live in Germany, and if there was a peace treaty with Lebanon, you can rest assured that a certain educated and cultured segment of the Israeli population would be spending their weekends in Beirut.
