Ex-US officials: Divide Jerusalem    Associated Press
1. One Million Jewish Refugees from Arab countries
One million Jewish refugees foeced to flee from Arab countries are not returning. The 750,000 Palestinian refugees are living on the moon if they still think they will return to Israel.
Semsem ,   New York, USA   (10.04.07)
2. What about "just solution" for Jewish refugees
I'm sick and tired of hearing how Israel must compensate the refugees. Far more Jews were violently dispossessed of everything they had as soon as the Arab states got independence. They were not a party to the conflict, unlike the Arab community in what became Israel. Everybody understands that many of them were not individually responsible. But nobody is requiring that Czech Republic or Poland compensate ethnic Germans who were forced out following the 2nd war, even tho many had no Fascist ties. Nobody is requiring that Pakistan compensate the Millions of innocents they violently dispossessed in the process of establishing Muslim state. But once again it seems that there is a different standard when it comes to Israel and Arab refugees. It is all the more reprehensible in trying to suggest that Israel is morally culpable for the 1948 war. If these people get compensation let them get it from the countries that started the war. Good luck with that, since the Jews from these countries are still waiting. For consideration, Josef Cohen

4. The truth about "Israel Policy Forum"
"The policy paper was prepared by Israel Policy Forum, a nonpartisan American group" HAHHAH, the "Israel Policy Forum" is as partisan as they come! It is supported by George Soros and is aligned with American Peace Now and other leftist, post-Zionist groups. How can anyone classify them as non-partisan???
Jenny ,   NYC   (10.04.07)
5. Who are they to decide Palestinian refugees can't go home
to the towns, villages, and lands from which they were forcefully expelled and ethnically cleansed by Jewish terror groups in the 1930s and 1940s. This is a recipe of trouble and problems in mideast for generations to come since Israel made more than 60% of Palestinian refugees and they won’t give up their lands just because a few supporters of Israel say so.
Brit ,   USA   (10.04.07)
6. We'll take Mecca in exchange..
ok, then half of Mecca. Fair deal.
Micha   (10.04.07)
7. EX- US officials are AntiSemites
They only Americans who would propose such a move are the AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists. Hence, Israel should reject and condemn such proposal and manipulation as endangering Israel's national security and survival. It is time Israel stands strong and be resolute in defending Jerusalem as its ETERNAL, INDIVISIBLE CAPITAL-CITY. Israel should NOT allow such external interference to its internal affairs. In fact, Israel should protect its liberated biblical and historic land of Judea and Samaria from external manipulations and usurpation by Islamist-JIhadists. Israel must NOT allow itself to be led to the slaughter house of dismemberment. Should Rice be peddling this crap, it shows that she is just becoming a puppet of the Dark Forces. The Dark Forces-AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists were in cahoots in executing the Holocaust in WWII. Remember your history to avert a repeat of such tragedy.

10. Jerusalem Is Israel's Capitol ...
It is not America's to divide. No country in the world would divide their capitol city, especially given the historical, religious, & cultural significance of this city to the Jewish people. Then there is the security situation to consider. How will we defend the city against terror attacks? Will we have daily Kassam rockets falling on us? Sniper fire from buildings on the Palestinian side? Suicide bombers infiltrating from their safe-haven (where we will no longer have jurisdiction)? Past experience tells us clearly that this is what will happen. Past experience tells us that no Palestinian gov't. will prevent it. On the contrary, past experience tells us that they will support terrorist groups. We are being sold a bill of goods. Empty promises in return for our capitol & our security. There isn't even a discussion of penalties for non-compliance. That's because everyone knows they will not comply. Only we will be held to account & every effort on our part to defend ourselves will be criticised. I won't even get into a discussion on Hamas - that Hamas will somehow become supporters of peace is too ridiculous to comment on. We have seen the result of outside meddling at Oslo. This is just more of the same - empty promises devoid of any connexion to reality. But the consquences will be all too real.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.04.07)
11. Defining National Interest & Irreconcilable Differences.
Or, "Why this is doomed to failure." What is the underlying Palestinian national interest? What is their goal? Generally speaking, it is a reversal of the decision of the UN in 1947 to partition the British Mandate. In other words, the elimination of an independant Jewish state. This would entail a significant exodus of the Jewish population. How they achieve this goal is the only point of contention between "moderates" & "radicals" - whether politically (Fatah) or through violence (Hamas). This goal is generally supported by all the other Arab states, Muslim countries, & the majority of our own Israeli Arab population. What is our national interest? Obviously, it is that they do not accomplish their goal. Anything that furthers progress towards that goal is not in our national interest. And, the unpleasant reality is that our national interest is also to transfer the Arab population out of our territory - that is the blunt truth. Our policies are in disarray because our politicians, with few exceptions, refuse to clearly define our national interests. So their policies are always contradictory, confused, and unsuccessful. The conclusion is that the real national interests of both parties are irreconcilable.

13. well, quite fair
not a bad proposal at all... just a pity they salary they probably got for writing such an obvious solution, and all the killings and sufferings in both sides. anyway, the right of return should be acknowledged and concerning all historical Palestine. even if most of them are never gonna go back.

15. Dividing Jerusalem is like dividing Washington DC
Nuts! Jerusalem is Israels capitol historically. What King David managed to do 3,000 years ago seems forgotten by by Israel and America. Wake up! Israel demand your rights and just say 'no'. This is insanity. We wouldn't ask any other country to cede land to any enemy especially a murderous enemy at that!
Petra ,   USA   (10.04.07)
16. Divided Jerusalem = weakened Jerusalem =
weakened Israel = NO hope for peace... but, Israel (without party Kadima) will prevail. Jerusalem will "(w)holy" be the Jewish capital of the state. Only then, will we have what Issiah predicted... no war no more :)
Mark Kleiman ,   Florida, USA   (10.04.07)
17. Partingtheland(Jerusalem)is a CAUSE of ARMAGEDDON...
Two separate States for Israel and the Palestinians will not work. The militant Palestinians must be sent to other Moslem nations away from Israel. The Prophet Joel and others in the Bible foresaw that. What happens EVERY time Israel is forced to give up land for peace and now to divide Jerusalem? There are CATASTROPHIC WEATHER JUDGMENTS on the nations that force that on Israel, in particularly the USA which as part of the Tribe of Joseph (Manasseh) should know better. By forcing the partition of Jerusalem in particularly, America will be divided into four parts in judgment. The notable horn of Daniel chapter 8 has to be America. After the war with Iran, the notable horn will break into four parts. WHY? Because Israel is forced to divide Jerusalem, in my opinion, and to give up land the Palestinians (Jordanians, then) lost war, fair and square, for attacking Israel and provoking Israel into war after war after war. Put the Palestinians on Reservations without weapons, like was done with the American native Indian revolutionaries. They cannot be allowed to have sovereignty with weapons and armies since time and again they have shown they will use that to start another war with Israel. American Free Press says the Iranians now have Sunburst Russian missiles to attack the American fleet. These are nuclear warhead missiles similar to cruise missiles that fly under radar, undetected. There is no defense for this and the destruction of aircraft carriers the article called floating mortuaries will leave the American troops in Iran stranded. At this point, the protection of American ships from Russian, Red Chinese, and Iranian Sunburst missiles is from God who WILL protect each ship IF TEN RIGHTEOUS MEN/WOMEN are on EACH SHIP. Post the Ten Commandments on the ships so the sailors will understand what personal righteousness is since they did not learn that in school. US Marines have a week of ethics training in boot camp to compensate for the lack of the Ten Commandments in America's schools which the ACLU fought so hard to remove.

18. Today is Tishri 24 in Israel. If the war Daniel in the Bible
saw beginning on the 24th day of the first month does not begin today near Basra, then it will likely begin on Nisan 24, the first calendar month of the Moses calendar. No one knows which calendar Daniel was refering to: Moses or Babylonian Jewish calendar. The latter is in use today. When that war starts, the result will be that Iran will lose. But after the victory when America is at its zenith of power, seemingly, the notable horn will break into four parts or nations, Daniel said. Perhaps war with Iran is unavoidable, but the dividing of Jerusalem can be avoided. It is possible the breaking of the notable horn is a judgment for dividing Jerusalem and not the consequence of war with Iran. DO NOT DIVIDE JERUSALEM. Deport the militant Palestinians to other Moslem nations far away from Israel.
Rivkah   (10.04.07)
19. if you ignore what hamas says/does, then peace IS possible
but if peace accords are signed and hamas & co continue to try to liberate the homeland (which is guaranteed), then what? with hamas' popularity and support, signing any sort of peace accord will guarantee that it will end up like the oslo accords: unmet expectations and an increase in violence. so, it seems that the plan is to just keep doing the same things and expect different results.

20. #11 Terry
The triangle area is one issue that may be up for negotiation, but overall, what do you want from Israeli Arabs? Go convince the Jews of North Tel Aviv to have more than 1.2 kids and there won't be a problem. Get 25% of American Jews to come here and there won't be a problem. Jews need to take responsibility for their demographics, and not blame the Arabs in our territory.
Logic ,   Israel   (10.04.07)
21. OK, after Washington, DC is divided with the UK....
and the Native Americans. Let the Saudis agree to share Mecca with the Jews, and the Vatican can be split with the Protestants. Since Nazareth is holy to Christians, Abbas should cede it to them, one part for each denomination. The US State Dept is tragically incompetent whenever meddling in the Middle East. They would make Israel into another Iraq, if the criminal traitor Olmert were allowed to give them the chance - chas v'shalom!

23. "the suffering and plight of the palestinian refugees"
was caused, deliberately, and exclusively, by the member states of the arab league, who initiated the (illegal) wars against israel, urged the refugees to flee, and then forced them to remain in refugee camps for 60 years. it was the arab governments who refused to grant them citizenship and prevented them from integrating into their new countries of residence, in order to use them in the war to destroy israel. (no other refugees, anywhere else in the world, still live on united nations handouts 60 years and 3 generations later.) let's put the responsibility for this "suggering and plight" where it belongs, on the arab league and their willing henchmen, UNRWA. as for compensation, israel should provide no more land nor money for the arab refugees than what the rich arab countries have offered the jewish refugees from their lands: NOTHING.

24. Rice needs to mind her own business
Rice and Bush will put tremendous preasure on Israel to split Jerusalem. Big mistake. Saying Bush want's to protect Israel is only for his benifit. To keep it for himself in order that he is the one to screw the Jewish state. Too bad we can't post anything on the other story that tells how much Bush loves us- NOT!!!
Shiloh ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.04.07)
25. It's time for Israel to fight for its Independence
Israel must stand strong and proud and declare its independence from the United States. Whatever that may entail. The alternative means its undoing as a country. The US did nothing to help Jews during the Holocaust. Yes, it fought Hitler, but it did not do it to help the Jews. It refused assylum to desperate Jews and it refused to bomb Nazi railways and gas chambers. They did not want too many survivors who would later be in need of assylum in other countries. The US did not help Israel during its major wars with the Arab countries. There's evidence to the contrary. And with its meddling regarding the conflict with the Palestinians, the US has prevented Israel from finding its own arrangement or solution. It's about time we - all of us who care for Israel - admitted the truth. The US is a major enemy of Israel. The US has played diplomatic games and placed itself in a role of "ally" of Israel, but it has constantly worked to undermine Israel's right to defend itself. There are very powerful forces at work within the top American establishment that have determined that Israel is more an obstacle for American interests than an asset and it must go. So while Israelis are kept busy looking over their shoulders for Qassams or suicide bombers, and defending themselves against a coordinated international and national Leftist media attack against its policies of self-defense, the US is going along unmolested with its plan for Israel's demise. Israel needs to take its need for Independence very seriously and systematically and do it regardless of the heavy bullying of the most powerful nation on Earth. In the meantime, we have an immediate crisis and the only way out of it is for Israeli politicians, other leaders and the public to put as many obstacles as possible in front of this sellout of Israeli land and heritage assets. Israel must not lose a single inch of its sacred territory. We are aware that the American Consulate keeps tabs on our comments. They occasionally even write their own TBs here and on the J. Post. Let's tell them unequivocally that they can't sneak behind their talk of "peace" while robbing Israel blind of its territory and its right to survive. For the sake of its own survival, Israel must free itself of the American chokehold. Now.

26. State Department has not changed
As I remember, many Jews -- including members of my family -- were trapped in Europe because of the unwillingness of the US state department and its anti-Semitic employees to grant visas, It would seem that the same thinking is still going on there, Let's kill the Jews, after all the oil is in Arab hands.

27. "Protection" in "Exchange" for "Peace"
The usual deal - hold steady..and let bush and the saudis pass into history

28. The last nail in America's coffin
With great arrogance the global meddlers decide to punish the Jews to placate their Arab economic partners by stealing their land under the ruse of a peace deal. They train and supply the Palestinian terrorists with weapons and millions in cash and their agenda is open for all to see. The arrogant U.S. curses Israel and does bless Islamic terrorism directed against the Jews. They pressure Israel to release therrorists from prison for nothing but more death in return. These people are not only anti-Israel ,they are evil. The great wonder is why most of Israel buys into this biggest scam in the history of the world ? What the amoral superpower America is doing will come back on it's land from east to west, north to south ,a divided ,destroyed and cursed land cut to pieces for assuming to divide the Israel of God. And it will come to pass in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples;all who lift it will be cut to pieces........ Zechariah 12;3

29. To #5 Brit & all Arabs
My father's family were Egyptian Jews. They had to flee Egypt when Their Moslem neighbors were butchering everyone who was Jewish in their neighborhood. Those of my father's family that survived, had to leave their house, household goods, clothing, land, and business. The government confiscated what their dear Moslem friends did not steal. So, if the Arabs are demanding and getting compensation, then, my family demands compensation from the Egyptian government and the Moslems- as should all Jews who were forced from Arab countries. And, we should also demand land from them, as well. So, Brit, to be fair, and "just" - if Israel must give land to the Arabs, then the Arabs must give compensation and land to the 1 million ME Jews who were forced from their homes. So, perhaps we should demand taking Mecca- your holy city, since you wish to take ours. After all, why should the Jews give up the rights to what they had -just because you Arabs say so?
