In 1973 - the IAF may have lost 8 planes, but the Syrians lost entire fleets and even had a few defections (thanks, guys). When discussing Arab intelligence, I prefer to think about the 1973 war story about a Syrian tank who snuck into Israel, came close to a brigade of Israeli tanks undetected, but kept his left rear blinker on.
