1. So, the question is: Is he a fool or is he sly?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.06.07)
Is this deception or has Bush succumbed to appeasement? I honestly can't say. Either US policy is hopelessly condradictory or in total disarray. Or does he have a plan? There is evidence to support any interpretation. One gets the impression, however, that there is no coherent plan - there is no "grand strategy" - just crisis management & damage control. Every issue has been compartmentalized & is dealt with as if nothing were connected. Public statements seemingly have nothing to do with facts on the ground. Strangely, this seems to mirror the state of our own politics - The unpredictability is most unsettling.
2. Bush: the last thing I want to be is a President during war
(10.06.07)
does he want or not?
3. War with Iran
Hilda ,   US   (10.06.07)
Certainly Bush will never make war with Iran to help Israel, dispite his words saying US will go to the aid of Israel. I aam convinced that Bush will attack Iran only if he gets orders from Saudi Arabia to do so.

Igor ,   Munich,Germany   (10.06.07)
I think without fools like Mr Bush and his "peaceful" country there would already be peace in the Middle East long time ago...take care of your own business and stop playing the global police force....
8. We really are a country of Peace.
Robert ,   Upstate NY USA   (10.06.07)
Terry, I do not believe America's President has succumbed or trying to appease at all. The real fact is that we (America) are a country of peace, just as Israel is. There is a major propaganda war going on with all sides. The left thinks Bush is trying to be a cowboy but the reality is he is standing up for America and Israel and Iraq. I could keep going but the reality is that he is standing up for democracy as well as freedom of the people and the fact that people of various different nations of the world are safer and more secure with a democracy because they have the right to choose what is going on around them. I believe that the real reason why everything seems to be so unpredictable is because America and Israel are democracies. The reality is that these democracies are dealing with an UN-predictable problem in the Middle East. (No pun intended with the UN) They are just useless. (The U.N. that is) One thing I do notice is how the Iranian President talks out of two sides of his mouth. He'll say one thing regarding an issue but contradict himself talking about the same issue at a different time. I believe with perseverance democracy will take over in the M.E. I believe that is what the President means by "winning" the war. I cannot speak for Israeli media but I can for American and one thing I do know is that most of the American media is against the President of the U.S. but the fact is that they have nothing solid that is really negative they just vilify him from concocted stories and half truths. The truth is out there you just have to peel through the layers of sh*t to get to it.  Have a nice day!
9. CHANGE OF STRATEGY?OR DISGUISE BY BUSH?
NAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (10.06.07)
A fair indication of exactly USA's present faltering foreign policy.A totally different type of usage of words.Or is to do with upcoming Middle East talks where the response is very slim? You never know. However, having uttered that.........'he is not against Islam' scores a point for Iran.Atleast, for the first time Iranians are included amongst Islamic state.USA became too clever to make use of Shias and Sunnis to deliberately incite sectarian war.Mr.Bush avoided that as well...........................very unlike of him.

Ben ,   Maine, US of A   (10.06.07)
Petra, are you always angry? When Bush, Rice & Olmert is gone, who would you like to see as their replacements? I'm being serious. Who would you trust as a protector of freedom? What direction would you like to see the ME head?
11. Bush - Get your claws out of Israel!!!
Jew   (10.06.07)
12. #8 Robert - And you believe in Santa Claus & the Tooth Fairy
Jake T ,   Alaska   (10.06.07)
Anybody can TALK about freedom, peace and democracy and apple pie. But I say judge a president by his ACTIONS and their results. Regarding Israel, Bush is doing whatever he can to destroy the country. It's forcing Israel to free terrorists that will go on killing Jews. It's forcing Israel to give up territory while asking Abbas or other Arab countries nothing at all. While talking about peace and democracy in the Middle East and spending billions in Iraq, Bush is determined to create one more terror state in the area. Does it make any sense whatsoever to you??? Today the world is not at peace, there are more terrorists than ever, and Israel faces a future as a shrunk country with belligerent neighbors all around and a terror state within sight of its major cities. Is that progress to you??? Maybe you're writing this TB at the suggestion of your boss in the Bush administration, or maybe you're just one of the last deluded Americans who still believes in Bush. Whatever. And finally, one more issue: democracy in the Middle East. Robert, wake up! Whenever Muslim nations get the chance to vote in a clean election, they vote for the extreme ideologues every time. They vote for sharia law and for depriving women of their rights. They want traditional Islam. They don't want what they consider corrupt Western ways, such as democracy and human rights for all. It's only those regimes that force the extreme Islamists underground, like Egypt, or those that impose secularism through the army, like Turkey, that are still semi-secular, semi-democratic. Give it up, Robert. Stop trying to export democracy and concentrate instead in saving the ONLY democracy in the Middle East: Israel. That's where your efforts should be concentrated: making Israel strong instead of destroying it. But to do what's right, you need a new President, one without so many, shall we say, friendly connections to the Saudis.... You know what I mean....

16. A land of peace ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (10.07.07)
America has become a land of child molesters and perverts ,a land where justice dwindles as criminals are released from jail early becasue of owvecrowding to go out and rob and kill and rape again with no restraint. America has become a deadly land of rising crime and greed and corruption and lawlessnes. America is a land whwe corrupt lying politicians sell out the people for their globalist new word order and refuse to enforce immigration laws and protect the nations. Do the Arabs or anyone believe this politician ? America is a land much like the Roman empire was before it fell. Overextended and bankrupt.

Marcel ,   Florida   (10.07.07)
No I won't hush. Stop trying to cover up the truth and decieve others with your spin and yarn of lies. You don't like the truth or reality of how this once great nation has become a cesspool.
20. Man, what a bleak vision of reality you offer, Marcel.
Cameron ,   USA   (10.08.07)
With that kind of take on affairs, its a wonder you can roll out of bed in the morning. Still, I will bear your dour thoughts in mind when I 'spin' or craft any future 'yarn of lies' in the near future.
21. #20 Cameron
Marcel ,   Florida   (10.08.07)
I don't offer anything ,I just say it like it is. The flood of judgment on America is all bad and it has begun.s The truth bothers you and you want to hide it ,censor it ,hush hush won't cover it up . A nation which has rejected God nad his laws has rejected His blessings and now runs after the curse and the curse has arrived. The governement marketers and media have what you want ,Disney world ,booze, prozac and many more soothing drugs to keep you living in your happy delusions.
22. To the likes of #5
DR ,   Florida, USA   (10.08.07)
I understand that many Americans are frudstrated with the Pres. But, do you really think that after 9/11, a democrat or another republican would have done things much differently? The US will always go after the bad guys in this world. Bill Clinton killed score of innocent people when he sent cruise missiles into serbi/chechnia/afghanistan etc. This is the way of the world. Of course the govt' has mishandled the war in Iraq, but they went there for a good purpose...to kill a mad dictator. The next president will have to deal weith Iran...so get ready for more disappointment.
23. Hang loose, Marcel
Cameron ,   USA   (10.08.07)
If you would stop roaming the streets, wearing that 'The End Is Near' sign around your neck, you might notice that the sun rises up every morning, the planet keeps turning, and the tide always comes in. Your 'Everything is going to Hell in a handbasket' philosophy is better left to the sour old woman at the end of the street. Don't fear change, Marcel, adapt & and roll along with it!
24. Didn't he mentioned that heis a
