So if Jerusalem has always been in their hearts how come it was never the capitol of Jordan? How come it's the third (unlike us) holy city? Why is Jerusalem never mentioned in the Koran? Jerusalem does not have 5% of the importance in the Muslim tradition as it has in the Jewish tradition. The reality is that most Israelis (they are the ones who do the actual fighting and dieing) would like an acceptable peace. The Arabs would like to pray in Jerusalem unhindered but all-in-all, they are demanding too much. I don't think they can expect to get more than the Arab neighbourhoods of Jerusalem and work out an arrangement for the Al Aqsa - Kotel area. If they refuse, Israel will know it tried and the people can face the future united.

In 1967, the Arabs attacked Israel and lost. For the last 40 years, they have acted like the victors making demands of concession while Israel has played capitulating losers.
