32. #24 Richard
Saul ,   Barcelona   (10.10.07)
By your own logic, shouldn't you be confronting British media bias (assuming Britain IS your country) before confronting the one you perceive to be in Israel? Or are you actually an Israeli? Unless you point to some tb's you posted on the subject to BBC, Sky, Guardian, etc., I will join all those who call you a hypocrite. Always with an agenda of bashing Israel and Jews, to the point of ignoring the article's subject. Just another banal, run of the mill (here comes! you've been expecting, I am sure, and I won't disappoint you...) anti-semite.
33. #29
Richard ,   London UK   (10.10.07)
Yes I will correct you. Jews do have a right to live. I have stated that before and will state it again. There is nothing in my agenda that wants, supports or endorses descrimination against Jewish people. I have never suggested otherwise. Those who can't bear to hear my opinion (and similar opinions by others) immediately jump on the 'anti-semitic' bandwagon. That is lame and a camoflague for the lack of argument on your behalf. It is also an attempt to stifle debate.

Richard ,   London UK   (10.10.07)
Dave your point is ridiculous. Where would any of us be without the contribution of everyone. We are all in this together. Remember whose language you speak in North America. It 'aint Canadian for sure.
35. #26 DR
Richard ,   London UK   (10.10.07)

36. This was to be about Pal selective outrage
Yoav Naor ,   Haifa Israel   (10.10.07)

37. #29 Stifling the debate
Saul ,   Barcelona   (10.10.07)
You know what stifles debate even more than you (deservedly) being labelled an anti semite? Dishonesty, hypocrisy, biased agenda, deligitimization, selective attention. When all of the above fail, you attack your opponents for spelling mistakes...(here Israelis, who speak at least two other languages besides English - that is, two more than you, Richard!) You have posted 1/3 of the talkbacks above, with not a single one being concerned with the subject of this article. So what IS you opinion on the Lebanese army using excessive force in the refugee camp? Was the Abbas reaction adequate and balanced? Does Israel have the right to use the same amount of force as the Lebanese army? Please surpise me, and respond with something concrete, rather than more of the "you people..." and "how dare you..." bs Hope the dole runs out soon and you will be forced to look for some real work.

Richard ,   London UK   (10.10.07)
Where have I said 'you people' or 'how dare you . . . ' ? Where have i been dishonest? As I have pointed out (see above) I have agreed that Abbas is biased but I have also pointed out that this web-site is biased. That is the point I am trying to make. You all express your indignation about the bias in my opinion without acknowledging that your opinion is biased. So we're as bad as eachother aren't we? If you want to have debate you have to be mature enough to listen to the opposite opinion without shouting them down as being 'anti-semitic' . I have also pointed out that according to the media that I have read and seen there was condemnation of the Lebanese Army's excessive use of force.
39. Happy to read words of sanity
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (10.10.07)
So often one reads things that makes no sense in relation to the conflict with the palestinians. As if their intentions were hard to understand. Good article Frimet Roth.

44. Richard, Richard, Richard!
Jellybean ,   Chicago   (10.10.07)
You mentioned that the US was founded by the British, you maybe right but it was also founded by others who were trying to escape a madman idiot your people called " a king". Since then the United States has been a successful country thriving to be ahead technically, educationally and militarily. You have to admit, the US had to bail out Britian and France not once but twice and help feed your people after WWII, not to mention the countless loans we gave you, even to a point your country could never pay them back so the US was kind enough to wave them (were talking about WWI and WWII loans). You also mentioned that the US will be speaking spanish, I have no problem with spanish since I have been taught when I was a little girl and many American children are also taught at a young age, but at least hispanics are not terrorist and will not kill us if we do not convert. and put us under shiara law! I see a bleak future for your country. It will be soon Eurabia or Londonstan that you will be forced live in Islam, pray to Allah or be killed, have your wife and/or daughters be forced to wear chador and live under Shiara law. The reason is because Europe has been laid back with Islamic Terrorist since the 1960's you know being all chummy with the PLO and because of your politicans selling out your culture to Islamic Terrorist and not to forget the Liberals who are up the Islamics "bum". I am proud to be an American, and Moderate Conservative. Why because I will fight to the death for my freedom, my way of life and American Society. Our Society may not be perfect but I can say it will be around for a long time, proberly even longer than the EU. Enjoy!

Ah, jellybean - good to hear from you. I hope you are well today. I really am not anti US, let's get that out of the way first (did I tell you that my dad's side of the family are Texans) I do have a problem with Bush though. He is a bad man. And an Idiot. But then most Americans think that. Why would a nation such as the US which you rightly said is so advanced technologically, has such a great tradition in literature, arts, humanism choose an idiot to be the top man? I have my theories but let's not go into them here. Many people from around the world come to London to live and work so it can hardly be in the grip of sharia law can it. Besides no one and that includes the Muslims who live here - would stand for Sharia law. .Don't worry about London. It's a long way from being 'londonstan' You should come visit it some time. You'd be welcome along with all the thousands and thousands of US citizens who have settled here. Just a quick p.s - the idea that the US was founded by English people fleeing a 'madman idiot' King rather gets your chronology confused. King George V was quite a few hundred years after the original settlers. Careful about watching too many Hollywood movies.
46. Actually Richard
Jellybean ,   Chicago   (10.10.07)
You are wrong, it was King George III not the V. Our Founding Fathers came from the Land that King George III ruled. I am not talking about the Indians. But thank you for your kind words. I understand why you are scratching your head why Bush got re-elected? I guess we are in the same boat, I too scratch my head why so many british re-elected Blair? I also understand your point about British muslims, but it was british muslims who were involved in the attack in london when was that 7/05? I didn't say that Sharia law is happening now, but in time it will be ( I apologize for not having an exact timeframe). I am not crazy about londonstan, I have been there before and its quite dreary all the time cold and rainy. I like the beaches instead, but I kindly thank you for your invitation.
47. hey richard
selective in outrage   (10.10.07)
you bring dishonour to your name and to your "so called people" lion heart was both brave and smart, you are neither go down to your nearby video store and pick up a copy of the "madness or king george" I suggest it because you probably cant read a non revisionist history book, and you could watch the film on your comfy couch
48. #46
Richard ,   London UK   (10.10.07)
Yes, you are correct it was George III. But even he was a long time after the 'founding fathers' English people started coming to North America in the 16th century. Anyway, shame you didn't like London. Where did you stay? What did you see? It can be a bit windy here it's true. Bit like Chicago - although I have only had the pleasure of visiting the airport so i can't vouch for that. You are correct about the home grown suicide bombers. But don't you imagine that that made the resolve of all Londoners even more pronounced and determined to resist. Don't worry. There will be no Sharia in the UK. Ever. England was the first democracy in the world. And it will be the last. And of course the difference between Blair and Bush (apart from one is articulate and one is , er dumb) is that Blair won a huge majority.
49. Ah, Richard, you are the very personification of............
Cameron ,   USA   (10.10.07)
European apathy & indifference Progressive apathy and indifference. I predict you'll be shrieking 'dialogue' and 'inclusion' in dumbfounded amazement even as they lock their Islamic hands around your throat. I'm afraid a scenario all too much like Bosnia will be in your future.
50. Not that Richard again
Darren Malone ,   Darwin Australia   (10.11.07)
Shouldn't we get back to the topic at hand.just ignore Richard,he hasn't posted a single coherant sentance. He is not the topic.
