The only way to build a strong security system is by convincing the population that there is a real hope for peace. - Agreed to return the land occupied in 1967 to the Pals. - ensure that the PA leadership is a clean leadership to ensure the continuity of the security system and the economic development in the PA area. - increase the Peopl-to-People interaction to normalaize relationships between the two sides of the conflict. bottom line: THERE WILL BE NO PARTNER ON THE PALESTINIAN SIDE UNLESS YOU ISRAEL CREAT THIS PARTNER. and the way to creat a partner is by supporting the moderate leadership and make that leadrship convincing in the eyes of the normal people THUS undermining the RADICALS.

I agree with most of your proposals personally but why is it Israel's duty to ensure an efficient PA leadership? That's up to you guys not Israel. We don't ask you to purge corruption in the Knesset. Hamas says 'soon to give up control of Gaza!'. What is going on between the PA and Hamas is so transparent as to be laughable. Olmert, for all his failings is not stupid and needs to ask the PA to clarify its position vis a vis Hamas before the intended conference in Annapolis. Gaza is very nicely closed off and the final touches just need to be made - sealing it off from Israel completely. The whole conference is so silly anyway because the two sides are nowhere near agreement on even one thing that's up for discussion. And now we hear new 'demands' from the PA every day and Mazen can't guarantee even one thing.

Make sure that you dont end up giving up the land and Israeli arabs simply move to haifa and tel aviv . knowing the skills of israeli negotiators, that outcome wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Since Palestine was never an independent state, the pre-1967 boundary was never an "Israeli-Palestinian frontier." It was the armistice line with Jordan. There is nothing to "give back" to the Palestinians, because they never controlled anything before.
