We must reach an agreement on the following principles 1.Peace and to stop Terror attacks and to stop killings on both sides 2. Middle East peace efforts -- successes and failures -- have taught some lessons. Without an end to the occupation, there will be no peace. Without recognition of the right of return of the refugees, there will be no peace. And without the release of all political prisoners, there will be no peace. Those are the core issues. Annapolis will succeed if those are agreed. If not, Annapolis will be another precursor to the another round of war, oppression, and misery.

Naftali, if Israel has to accept the right of return, where will that leave her? Is your definition of peace, Israel agreeing to something that doesn't guarantee that she can exist as a Jewish state in perpetuity? Well that is not peace, and then it is worth while to rather carry on fighting (actually just responding to attacks from those that seek Israel's destruction). So in other words, there will be no peace as long as Israel exists as a defensible, sovereign nation? Not acceptable, but thank you for playing another round of "How to destroy Israel while trying to sound reasonable and logical."

What I find most interesting is the constant barrage of all types of demands being made by any Palestinian who has some title, this must be done, this must be agreed to, before they will even consider to sit down to “Negotiate” to try and find some solution. Arabs will be Arabs they fight with their mouths, they fight with threatening to terrorize, they fight by not even to sit down and try and find some middle ground without first being assured they will be victories’. How sad with that attitude they will always live in abject poverty, live with constant fear, be dependant upon other nations for food, be dependant upon Israel for any supplies even reaching them. Arabs stop dreaming about how you will be victorious against Israel, stop believing that 60 years of terror will result in any benefits to you, stop believing that the average Arab will not be able to accept any arrangement other then turning back the clock to the past. It will never happen. No matter who is leading the government such concessions are way beyond their ability to grant.

The U.S. has struck out with so many failed agreements since Oslo that it is hard to believe Israel is biting into this rancid pie. We've had Wye,Tenent, Mitchell,Sharm El Sheikh,Aquaba and Bush's Failed Road Map .All of the the Palestinians have proven to be no partners for peace but in Israel's defeat and extermination. So why is Israel drinking the Kool-Aid again ?

The PA murderers are ALWAYS negotiating with one hand, and putting a gun to Israel's head with the other. It is WAY past time that Israel's leaders grow a spine and state - YOU ARE NOT STEALING OUR HOMELAND. NEVER! If they fail to do so, the people are OBLIGATED to make them pay.

of course there are "no agreements on any of these issues" ! Shas will not allow changes to Jerusalem. Liberman will not allow changes to the borders unless Israel gets rid of areas that contain predominatiely Arab populations. That no matter what Israel agrees to give away, and no matter what they say in public or private. moslem arabs will always consider Israel to be an affront to islam. Any land that is given away will be used against Israel in future. Everyone knows this.....but there seems to be a desire to say nothing about it! Maybe the leftnik peace now people would be happy to be driven into the sea, but the real problem is the unwillingness of the surrounding countries as well as the palis themselves to simply STOP preaching hate daily to their children. I thought the whole point of this conference was about discussing and negotiating all the various issues from the looks of it the palestians see this conference not about negotiating but simply a sign on the dotten line ceremoney and Abbas and Olmert are officialy awarded a nobel prize. The Hamas take over of Gaza has been a gift for Abbas and his thugs because now as they are not Hamas everybody sees them as nice guys and that means making lots of concesions and allwowing Abbas to make the rules and that weak idiot Olmert to do as he is told. Allready at every oportunity Abbas has been making fresh demands non of which he would have been able to make before the Gaza takeover. If the palestians get there way there will be no point in even going to the US because the outcome is known allready.

The palestians are making condition after condition of what they want agreed on in advance before the conference starts or making threats of peacemaking. IF THIS CONFERENCE FAILS IT WOULD LEAD TO ANOTHER INTEFADA I dont hear anybody in the Israeli establishment saying what they want to achive or want agreed on in advance its allways palestians let everybody know what they want while Israel plays the submisive coward who doesnt want to say anything and so it doesnt get noticed and so hopfully avoid any problems. The only ones who ever speak up are the ones involved in security issues and the hard right who have no politcal influence. Israel, like all other civilized countries in the world are, is interested in killing as MANY armed gang members as possible.
