The IOF are famed for their photo ops. Numerous pictures fromt their snap happy forces. Even snipers have cameras attached to their weapons. Show me the pictures! or I might be inclined to believe the Syrian version that the IOF when detected dropped their tanks to assist their retreat and fled. Took 15 months to show the attack by Hizbullah on the Navy vessel hope it doesn' take them that long.
2. Mid-east psycology

Some Americans dont seem to understand that this attack actualy stopped a war which should have started this month and would have led to the destuction of Syria as it is now and the death of thousands of civilians in Isreal. The fact that Israel managed to put out the hugely expensive equipment that Putin conned the Syrians and Iranians into buying, on the pretext that Israel was about to start a war, scared the "bejeeses" out of them! With this one act Israel secured the future of the Jewish state and prevented the deciannual mid-east war.

There was no imidiate risk but one day there may have been. This isnt the old west where they both face each other in the street say draw and the fastest one lives while the other survives. It might be more honerable facing each other up so you both have a fair chance at victory but its not the best way to do things if you want to win. If you want to be garunteed a victory you shoot him before he owns a gun. There was certainly politics involved in this like trying to put on a show of strengh but it also made sure that Syria was alot further away from its goal of gaining nukes. Wait a couple of years till Syria has become a real threat they may have air defenses, undeground sites which are harder to hit making air strikes much more difficult to achive succesfully Its forward thinking that won the 6 Day War while its waiting for the enemy that nearly lost the Yom Kippur War.
4. I hope the IDF was as successful on this mission as in Iraq
Rivkah   (10.14.07)
in 1982. Eric Prince's Blackwater military claims to be the best in the world, but the IDF would be hard to beat.
5. It makes senseI
Yosef ,   Tel Aviv   (10.14.07)
The US sees that Olmert is too weak to convince Israelis to commit suicide after Israel's defeat at the hands of Hizbollah and Hamas. The US allows Olmert to attack the Syrians probably years too early, raising his popularity. He goes to Annapolis and follows Abbas' dictate.
6. Incomplete constructions
Damir ,   Russia   (10.14.07)
I wonder how much damage is done. It would be much wise to attack a complete site when all the evidence will become apparent and pieces of irreplaceable equipment are in place. This also might account for insufficient air defence. There is little point to guard a building site. As for warning for Iran it has already been given in Iraq 1981. Doesn't need to repeat.
7. #1: dropped tanks
Damir ,   Russia   (10.14.07)
Fuel tanks usually are dropped before attack. I think IDF/AF planes crawled silently over Turkey, dropped tanks near the border and made a supersonic run over Syria to targets.
8. 2 down, osirik and syria nuke reactors, 1 left- iran.
debra ,   usa   (10.14.07)
IAF---great work. israel- the bravest of the brave!
9. Practice Makes Perfect
Gus ,   USA   (10.14.07)
There should be no doubt that this military exercise was a warm up for a future airstrike on Iran's nuclear complex if diplomatic efforts fail to shut down that facility. Common sense dictates that Israel will never allow Iron to acquire "home grown" nuclear weapons.
10. Great strike on Syria
Petra ,   USA   (10.14.07)
this would explain Syrias willingness to comply.
11. #1 lydia is a racist and her comment should be removed.
Scott ,   USA   (10.14.07)
Note the use of "IOF" -- It means "Israeli Occupation Forces," a slightly softer way of saying the racist "Zionist Occupation Forces". Lydia is of the school that believes that Israel itself is an "occupation".
12. #7 Damir, good point
observer   (10.14.07)
what supports your theory is that " the newly elected Turkish political leaders - at first - denied that they knew beforehand about the Israeli raid. They haven't repeated or acknowledge that later because they have been put under pressure from their own military institution". Indeed that kind of act is 100% Israeli.
13. #1 would rather believe the regime...
DR ,   Florida, USA   (10.16.07)
of a man who' father killed tens of thousands of his own people, then that of a modern democracy? Lydia needs to educate herself a little more before spewing her garbage on our websites!!!
