Is General Ashkenazi the same general who obeys immoral orders to expel Jewish families from our homes? From the land of Israel? Why not use them as "human shields?" They don't think twice about blowing themselves and their own people up along with scores of innocent Jews. What is wrong with General Ashkenazi? Palestinians are like savages that have no respect for innocent human life. If they behaved like normal human beings, we might question this but not when they behave like savages.

Apparently you copied and pasted a list of Irgun attacks from Wikipedia without also copying the first paragraph which explains how all of these attacks by the Irgun was in response to the Arab terror against Jews killing 320 Jews in the Great Uprising of 1936-1939. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Irgun_attacks_during_the_1930s. As usual the Arabs had started the terrorist attacks in 1920's, 1929, and 1936 massacres of Jews. But the members of the Irgun decided to fight back. Although they were not mainstream, they did have their place in quelling the Arab violence against Jews and British. But then as always Arabs have been at the forefront of terror and Jews have had to devise methods of counter-terror as appropriate for the each of the different time periods that it occurred.

Sorry to disappoint, but terror is terror. and an innocent women, man or child killed in terror attacks by jew or palestinian is still terror. why isnt the state of israel blowing up buses in gaza today in response to attacks in tel aviv? terror is terror, ur people at one time had to use it against their enemies and jews looked at Irgun as heros. palestinians are using the same tactics, and thier people look at their organizations as heros. 2 sides of the same coin. Please don’t claim the higher moral ground, it makes you look very foolish.
14. What does this mean?
Jack ,   richmond, va   (10.19.07)
"The procedure was outlawed by the High Court, a decision also adopted by the IDF. " In most countries the military is under the high court so that they have no choice but to "adopt" orders by the high court. Is Israel a modern country or not?
15. to # 14: Have you heard of 'oqef baqatz'

It is a procedure, law, order, etc. the state, any of its bodies, incl. the army, adopts to 'bypass' high court orders! Really funny, and have not heard of this anywhere else on earth.

18. 50 yrs ago, Brits called it 'Jewish or Zionist terrorism
sharon   (10.19.07)
Zionist political violence Zionist political violence in the British Mandate of Palestine occurred in the 1930s and 1940s, primarily targeting British policemen and soldiers. Irgun and Lehi, militant Zionist organizations, also targeted civilians, United Nations-personnel, and Jews suspected of collaborating with the British. The British government described such political violence as "Jewish" or "Zionist" terrorism. During the 1936-1939 Arab revolt in Palestine mainstream Zionists, represented by the Vaad Leumi and the Haganah, assisted the British, but practiced the policy of Havlagah (restraint), while Irgun members did not obey this policy and called themselves "Havlagah breakers." After the beginning of World War II the Haganah and Irgun suspended their activity against the British in support of the war against Nazi Germany. In 1944, after the defeat of the Nazis was assured, the Irgun resumed attacks. The smaller Lehi continued anti-British attacks and direct action throughout the war. The official leadership of the Yishuv was opposed to these activities and demanded their cessation. After the assassination of Lord Moyne, the Jewish Agency Executive condemned the act and decided on a series of measures against what they called "terrorist organizations" in Palestine. Although J. Bowyer Bell writes: "In June 1975, the Egyptian government released the bodies of Eliahu Hakim and Eliahu Bet-Zouri, thirty years after the assassination of Lord Moyne, in return for twenty Arabs jailed in Israel as fedayeen or intelligence agents. In Jerusalem the two were given a heroes' burial in the Mount Herzl military cemetery, the resting place of Israeli premiers and presidents."[1](also corroborated by other accounts[2][3]) According to Yehuda Lapidot, the Hunting Season was "the code-name for the Haganah's persecution of the Irgun, aimed at putting an end to its activities." He says that many of those handed over to the British had no connection to Irgun terrorism, but were active members of the Revisionist party, political opponents of the Jewish Agency.[4] Contents * 1 Irgun and Lehi attacks * 2 During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War * 3 See also * 4 References * 5 Further reading [edit] Irgun and Lehi attacks Main article: List of Irgun attacks during the 1930s * 1937-1939 The Irgun conducted a campaign of violence against civilians resulting in the deaths of at least 250. * November 1944 Lehi assassinated British minister Lord Moyne in Cairo. * 1944-1945 The killings of several suspected collaborators with the Haganah and the British mandate government during the Hunting Season. * July 26, 1946 The bombing of British headquarters at the King David Hotel, killing 91 people — 28 British, 41 Arab, 17 Jewish, and 5 others. meir elazar ,   `   (10.20.07)
1. Your distort history by omission of the masscares of Jews which led to the Irgun Irgun and Lechi reprisals. 2. You ignore that fact that Irgun was not mainstream and did not represent the official Jewish govt/leadership. 3. You disregard that PALs for nearly 100 years pioneered terror and exported it to much of the world. Look at the article of PAL children playing "Hamas vs Fatah" in today's Ynet, the Arab/Moslem suicide attack on Benezir Bhutto, to all the terror attacks all over the world. Remember the collaboration of Haj Amin Al-Husseini with Hitler and massacres of Jews throughout 1920-1936 and beyond. 4. We have learned from thousands of years of persecution through the holocaust and have transformed ourselves from the passive Jews of the Ghetto to a world class fighting force and technological leader with enormous contributions to science, technology, arts, music, etc. while PALs/Arabs/Moslems have spread terror throughout much of the world spreading hatred and fear. 5. Finally, we do have the moral high ground and always had in giving the world its Moral foundation with the Torah, etc. for which we have suffered persecution. 6. I proudly stand up to fight anti-semites such as yourself and in a YNET forum where people who care about Israel, Jews, etc. you are the in the minority and people laugh at your ridiculous writings. Note that virtually all responses to your writings are against you and your ludicrous writings.
20. Lehi and Stern Gang bombings and assassinations
Legaleaglet ,   United Kingdom   (12.19.18)
I have studied the British Mandate in some detail. I have to say most scholars including Israeli scholars with whom I am in regular contact agree that the British in the form of the Palestine Police were even handed with a slight bias towards Jewish immigration. There is a general feeling in history that the Arabs were betrayed by the Anglo French agreement after WW1. The Haganah worked closely with the PP whonaemwd them during the Arab revolt of 1936-39. There is a general consensus that the tactics of the Stern gang were reviled by most Jewish settlers at the time and indeed it became a taunt in common usage to children that if they did not behave the Stern Gang would “ come and get you”. The Irgun also undertook many operations which resulted in the deaths of Jews Arabs and British alike. The last commentator is correct to say neither the Irgun nor the Stern Gang were mainstream but equally it is true to say that the leaders of those organisations became associated with the right wing of Israeli politics and the Havana the left wing ( stemming as it did from Trade Union roots). The last commentator is harsh on the original text - no government is immune from criticism. And whilst it is right tonrespect a nations strength and evelopment it is also wise to note that in child abuse - the abused child can become the abuser. All politicians have a duty to live and react to the present and not be seated in historical disputes
