I find this article interesting from the standpoint that it's from the left where we find the idea that "we make peace with our enemies, not our friends". That is, there should be no problem freeing a Bargoutti after being convicted of at least five murders, and untold others. But when it comes to Amir, not only should he be incarcerated and if possible, exiled at the same time, but his family should also be thrown out of the country as well. Perhaps they should be jailed as well (just as they did Sheffi)? Perhaps we can kill two birds at the same time and free Bargoutti and jail Amir's family. Now that's what can be called justice in the extreme. I find their double standard both hypocritical and humorous Also, Olmert: Bullets won't stop peace .. If you are a Jew and you kill a Jew, you can never be forgiven, but if you're an Arab and you spill Jewish blood, we'll get over it after you spend a few years in jail? There's no reason for Yigal Amir to rot in jail if we liberate Arab terrorists who killed far more Jews than he did, or we tolerate the barrage of rockets falling on Sderot without lifting a finger. Keep Yigal in Jail... but stop liberating Arab terrorists and do something about Sderot, hypocrites!

I'm not pointing fingers or making any accusations but simply observing that as soon as a politician decides to support the grossly misnamed "peace" plan, his personal finances go sky high. It happened to Sharon and Barak. I personally watched it happen to Yonatan Bassi, a simple kubbutznik now playing in the big leagues of high finance at the expense of the Jews of Gush Katif. Peres is a phenomenally wealthy man. It is all legal. But is it a sign of integrity to supprot something that hurts so many when you are benefitting personally? In America, most of this would be illegal (conflict of interests). I suspect there are reasons why Olmert "changed his mind". It certainly isn't due to the stellar success of any of the left wing agendas.

Olmert is competing with all the Jews around the world who think they could get a better peace deal than he could and with those Jews who want to hang on to all the territory or don't trust the Palestinians. It's the excessive demands of Fatah and the violent Palestinian groups that hold Jews together.

It diverts attention from the real issues: 1. The complete failure of Oslo. 2. > 1000 jewish dead as a result 3. A corrupt dishonorable prime minister seemingly about to repeat the mistake, but this time on a greater scale, with the result that much more of the country at risk of rocket attack. Rabin didn't deserve to be murdered, but he wrong, perhaps not for taking a risk for peace, but for doing nothing once it was clear that the gamble wasn't paying off.

The current leadership and the direction it is taking makes one wonder, who will be left to eulogize Israel after its demise, if one person that represented Israel can create such lamenting, and breast beating and a unrelenting attack against any person or group that considers the State of Israel above the shenanigans and self serving selfish leaders who wish to bring a catastrophic end to a Jewish Israel, it leaves open the question after the destruction visited upon the Jewish citizens of Israel, what excuse will the Gush Shalom, and the followers of Belein and all his ilk provide the World Jewry that they should continue to raise and donate their monies to a failed non Jewish Islamic dominated country. Or how will they excuse their actions that allowed the holocaust suffered by the Jewish citizens of a former Jewish State know as Israel.
