1. train hard, drill down
publius ,   usa   (10.28.07)
if i may be so bold to muse... with much hoopla made over the second leb war mistakes, and the seeking of addressment of lessons learned. this sundays exercise stated goals seems to reveal an issue. forgive me, if this is a falacious observation, for i my line of reasoning is somewhat convoluted in grasping for answers. The maxium of drilling down is an off stated given in a well greased army. So sure the politicos and top commanders, walk away with the belief that the exercise went well, and so here is my observation. the boots on the ground, and all the more so with your purely democratic arm forced structure derives from a wide spectrum of society, so it is not an issue of reflectly on their performance it is an issue of faith in the direction and leadership. Things happen fast on the modern battlefield, and unless there is complete understanding of the why's and way's things unfold and progress in this intense environment, human nature works and creeps against overall direction. (i.e. like we would not be here if only we did this or that in negoiating with the palestinians and arabs) Maybe the only lesson to be learnt from second leb war, was that the man in the field knew that this operation was purely a political war fought half heartly. In, reality, it was just the the political greens lines that hampered the effort. Never lose sight of the most powerful aspect of your strength, the men on the front line, can you honestly say down to a troop that apon reflection of over all success in this exercise has established without a shadow of dought a true mearger of commander and men, if not then that is where mission drill down needs to seek improvement. My impression, is if it comes down to an us or them, screw the rest of the world, the training will kick in. however as an understatement, giving that what greives your people in the understanding of the sorrow of having to fight the fight in the first place, fear is the enemy and to remove that is to have complete understanding by those that have to wage this fight in knowing that communication technologies while powerful in of themselves, can work against your forces when confinded to the narrow strip of land that is your country unless the man in the field knows the madness of his commander and those that order him at the political level. sincerely - god bless you guys.
2. Train on logistics!!!

Make sure your "yehee bseders" and oversized egos are left at home and food and supplies are delivered in a fashion that would be expected in a real war. No more BS like in Lebanon. Doing it "by the book", is that so hard?
3. um, can the government give us back our gas masks?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.28.07)
in my opinion, that would be great if they could.
4. #3 Yeah what is the deal with that!?

They came and took them, then they bomb Syria. Thanks alot! Are we going to be jeopordized for some shocking terrorist attack with huge death tolls so the US can show it as an example of why billions should be spent on the war on terrorism. Do we have to wait till chemical weapons are launched? Give me back the old one! I dont want to become a statistic for politics and war.
