31. palestinian refugee? there is no such thing.

32. Frustrated secular right
abdulush ,   ashekanzi   (10.30.07)
How anyone Jewish in their right mind thinks that it is good to cut off electricity to a defeated population, is beyond belief. If you have the power to control their electricity, that is to control their very fabric of existence, then you have the power to end the kassam fire. That secular rightists who have no moral or religious reason to be in the land of yisroel believe that they have the right to collectively punish the indigenous inhabitants is the height of moral depravity. Religious Zionists, as much as I find logical problems in some of their arguments, at least have a strong and sincere religious basis for being in the holy land, and one can be a bit 'understanding' of their concerns. The religious zionists have a moral conscience and thus care for Jewish lives. The secular rightists on the other hand, are clearly willing to sacrifice lives to satisfy their egos and lusts. How shamefully sad...May G-d save us.
33. similarities
Palestinian refugee   (10.30.07)
Caving the Palestinians in Gaza and the west bank is like caving the Jews in the Ghettos. building wall around the Palestinians is exactly what the Nazis did to the jews and not to mention displacing the Palestinians from their homes since 48. there is a lot of similarities. I feel really sory for what happened to the Jews during the world war two but I don't understand how could Israel use the same methods to get rid of us. and for #31 who denies our existence I feel petty for you because you just fall with ahmadi najaad's side who denies the holocaust. when Israelis recognize what they did to us since 48, only then we could start all live together in one democratic state.
34. #33 Palestinian
Sam ,   Canada   (10.30.07)
What has happened to Palestinians since 1948 is the result of Palestinians trying non-stop to eliminate Israel. Do you expect Israel to reward you for trying to eliminate it? Israel has no intention of living with all the Palestinians in one democratic state. Either you work out a NON-VIOLENT 2-state solution that is acceptable to Israel or Palestinians will continue living as they are. That is the Jewish consensus. You have no other choices.
35. Barnea the genius
Ron ,   LA   (10.31.07)
Barnea doesn't have anything smart to conntribute, so he claims Barak is a fool. Just looking breifly at his article and childish argumentation makes you wonder what makes him qoalified to judge Barak. You can say anything about Barak, but fool? Barnea, if you don't have anything to say, just go for a walk...
36. It Won't Work
RickD ,   USA   (10.31.07)
By itself the minimal power cuts that have been mentioned by the Israeli govt won't stop the rocket fire. Of course we haven't seen it in action but Hamas doesn't care for the people of Gaza. They would sooner let one million Gazans die than give in to Israel, because of power cuts or anything else. To be effective power cuts have to be part of a wider campaign to delegitimize Hamas. It is possible that Barak has this in mind but hasn't made the details public. Hamas must be humiliated and forced to submit. This will not be easy. Power cuts will be necessary part of it though.
37. 34
Palestinian refugee   (10.31.07)
if it didn't work with apartheid south africa, why would it work with apartheid Israel? this segregated 2 state solution will not work and Israel has already destroyed this option. whether 2, 4, or 10 state solutions Palestinian refugees will return to their villages and homes and the best solution is the 1 state solution. it's not up to you to agree on that it's the realty. many Israelis want that as well many Palestinians. would you post this please?
38. To Terry #7. You Smartly Defeated Mr. Barnea.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (10.31.07)
Terry, what a thought-out, intelligent, brilliant talkback you wrote. You smartly defeated Mr. Barnea point by point. And I thank you for that. Mr. Barnea writes :"..(cutting off Gaza power) contradicts ... international law norm ". TO cut off power is against international law -- and to fire Kassam rockets on Israeli cities on an almost daily basis, that is allowed. THAT is the greatest nonsense I have ever heard. BTW if the wider world does not protest against the Kassam rocket attacks from Gaza on Israeli cities -- their, i.e. wider world's, opinion about Israel is of NO use to us, is of NO importance to us.
39. to terry eilat
taha ,   jerusalem   (10.31.07)
he was a clever child he was my brother he used to asked many questiones in his dialouge to any article . . now he is over fourty he is still too clever but seldom use the questioning in any dialougue .. becouse he has experiance ... he tell evrything as facts .... so i think you are so clever but you need more experiance to understand that the auther do not write fore mony only but sure he interested to tell his mind as you like to do ... still it is different points about the decition .. or it is different decitions about the same point ... and when a desicion is like a point .. the desicion will not worth if it is from barak or from terry or from taha
40. #33, still having problems with history I see
Danny   (10.31.07)
If Israel "used the methods" the Nazis did against the Palestinians there wouldn't be a problem because you'd all be dead. I'd have more sympathy for you if you didn't feel the need to lie to back up your argument. As usual I take it as a compliment because you clearly think Israel's REAL behaviour is spotless.
41. #37 and again you show difficulty with history
Danny   (10.31.07)
Lets compare apartheid SA with Israel: 1) No black civil servants - Israel has an arab minister, arab MKs, arab judges, arab police etc 2) Black didn't have the vote - Israeli arabs do 3) Blacks didn't have property rights - Israeli arabs do 4) There are senior members of the IDF who are Israeli arab - no black allowed to serve in the army. 5) Blacks not allowed to go to white universities - Israeli arabs go to the same universities as Israeli jews. and on and on. PS you can probably count on one hand the number of Israelis who "want" a one-state "solution".
42. #38 it is not that difficult
(10.31.07)
as he has feeling of disgust to his arab friends, he can show the same feelings to fellow jews. That's easier.
43. Palestinian
Sam ,   Canada   (10.31.07)
Your solutions will not happen by magic. You can only impose them by war because Israel refuses to change its status as a country with a large Jewish majority. That's the only one state or two state solution it will accept. If you choose to fight then the hardships Palestinians will endure will continue to be of your making.
44. to sam in canada
palastinian ,   jerusalem   (10.31.07)
the best choice to you to be there ,and the best choice to me is to be here and whataever be here if it is not my choice or my will will never change my choice to be here ... but what about your choice to be there is yours not mine .. and i will not disscuss your choice even if you decide to be here ... always i discuss my choices and the main one to be here
45. Palestinian in Jerusalem
Sam ,   Canada   (10.31.07)
I have lived in Jerusalem seven years (including together with Palestinians in the Hebrew University dormitories). My relations with Palestinians have always been good whether in Canada or Israel. That is how Jews wish to live with Palestinians. However, for Jews anything less than a Jewish-majority Israel is not negotiable. Palestinians don't seem to understand or accept this. We are not free to live wherever we wish, not Palestinians and not anyone else.
46. Need not be overtly punitive . . .
Stuart ,   Michigan USA   (10.31.07)
What happened to all the clever schemers? Will all the human rights weenies out there consider Israel's failure to fix something the pals blow up to their own detriment to be punitive? Next time the pals send a rocket to the power plant, make sure the line feeding power to Gaza is destroyed. Then let the world whine and try to make Israel fix it.
47. Barnea is the TRUE FOOL
FLLegal ,   Florida, USA   (11.01.07)
We have idiots like Barnea in our U.S. State Department as well. As a lawyer let me say...SCREW international law and the interpretation of such law by leftists, liberals, and socialists. The Geneva Convention articles are not a suicide pact. I would have turned off the electric the day the "people" voted in Hamas. Let those in Gaza spend their time trying to make electricity instead of rockets. Such idiocy that a nation would have to supply its enemies with electricity and/or other services. The only thing I would give them is what the U.S. gave Germany in WWII ... some new "carpeting". I guess when it comes to war I'm just "old-fashioned".
48. I say invite Amnesty Intl & UN Human Rights to Gaza City...
FLLegal ,   Florida, USA   (11.01.07)
Then bomb the hell out of Gaza City.
49. to sam

god create us free and say that [my earth is large you can be wherever to be ]] but sure if any one obliged to travell it is not his choice ... but if he travell to get money or to be safe or to aske knowledge //// still its choice ,still he is free // but when he is obliged to do he is not free // and the man remove this freedom but god never

51. To dr #49. WHAT Makes You Think We Are Free ?
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (11.03.07)
You say :"(God's) earth is large you can be wherever (you want) ..". IT is a fact that God created us. But WHAT makes you think we are free ? We are NOT free ! Before entering a country one MUST get permission from that country, a visa. And when you are IN the country -- there are so many laws, rules that one HAS to obey, one has to follow. You break the State law -- you get punished, you go in jail. FOR example here in Holland, you should keep right while driving -- you can't say ' well, I like very much to drive on the left tract '. Your liking is of NO importance. WHY not ? If everyone does whatever he wants -- within no time it will be a CHAOTIC country. SO, to be free doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. NO !! To be free means you have the CHOICE between obeying or disobeying the State law. Between those two -- that much freedom you have. IF you break the law -- the State Police will come after you. THIS is called civilization -- to follow the law of the State.
