The proposed law is not racist. Why would an MK want to travel to an enemy state? It doesn't look good for an MK to do this. The appearance given is colaborating with the enemy. During the Cold War, I can't imagine any US Congressperson taking it upon themselves to travel back and forth to Russia; unless it was an approved trip for some purpose.

Collaborating with an enemy at any time let alone at times of war means the death penalty in many countries that have it and long term prison sentences in probably ALL others. These Arab MKs should stop focusing on blaming the government they are supposed to represent for all of the Arabs' problems and start focusing on helping the domestic community of Israeli Arabs. Going to Syria and praising Nasrallah is NOT the way to end discrimination against Arabs. Saying mandatory national service with veterans' benefits instead of army service such that Arabs don't fight in the army and have more oppurtunities open to them is an evil "israelification" tactic is NOT the way to end discrimination. How about they take real measures to help Israeli Arabs instead of identifying themselves with Israel's enemies. This law could make that happen.

There used to be a law against meeting with declared enemies of Israel. That law was changed AFTER Peres met with Arafat in Cyprus. In truth, Peres should have gone to jail for that. Instead, he got a promotion. Now, it seems to be illegal to speak out against terror organizations.

To those posters who say Israel doesn't want Arab members, the law should apply equally to all, Jews and non Jews alike. That takes the racist argument out of this AND stops those that want to play footsie with Israel's enemies. As far as the Arab MK leaving dispite the law, that is beyond freedom of speech and travel.
