1. Thats funny
elchonon ,   chevron   (11.01.07)
Can someone say "incitment" ? thats what everyone screams when jews move into east jerusalem or the like.. How is it ileagal for jews to build in judea and samaria but the arabs can? is the not discrimination? oops was it 1994 when the court ruled dicrimination against settlers is OK but cant discriminate against arabs, gays and women... If we settlers are 3% of the israeli population and 10% of the arab population in judea and samaria we are minority's!
2. That is an Easy Answer Elchonon
Mr. Knowitall ,   Frostbite Falls, MN   (11.01.07)
The issue of racial discrimination in Israel proper against non-Jewish citizens of Israel is quite a different issue than Israel finally abiding by International laws by not transferring parts of its own civilian population onto lands it holds under belligerent occupation, a violation of the IV Geneva Convention. Occupied East Jerusalem is also not recognized by anyone or country as being part of Israel, so it is not whether Jews can move there, but simply that it is illegally for Israel to transfer parts of its own civilian population onto lands it holds under belligerent occupation, which applies to settlers used as tools of the occupation, ethnic cleansing and theft of Palestinian land.
3. The issue of violence
Tracy W   (11.01.07)
Although this news item presents the case of a peaceful couple trying to live within a Jewish community, one has to take into consideration the broader picture of relations between Arabs and Jews within Israel. When Jews constitute a large majority in a town, they can feel relatively safe. When they do not, they can become subject of harassment and worse, as they are in Hevron. The recent violence against Jews in Pek'in also gives us reason for great concern. "The Jewish families living in the ancient village said that the transmitter was "just an excuse" for violence and that six of the eight Jewish families' homes in ancient Peki'in were either burned or ransacked in the morning after the riots that received media coverage." http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/124112 These are facts, events that took place. Greater coverage of these issues would help in addressing tensions within mixed communities.
4. they are enemies; they want to supplant the Jews

5. #2 Mr. Twistitall
Yael ,   Jerusalem   (11.01.07)
Ahh, Israel proper. It is all Israel and you can say we occupy part of our land as much as you want but the fact is that it is part of Israel. East Jerusalem is just that, the east part of Jerusalem. The only "belligerent" conduct here is the twisting of the truth by those who want to redo history and turn the Palestinian Territory into was a state. Come to think about it, that is not the only truth being twisted by thisgroup. Here is a truth. Jews have returned (thank G-d) and we are here to stay. It's good to be home.
6. Justice and Rakefet
Barbara ,   Har Halutz, Misgav,   (11.01.07)
Finally! The "selection" process is illegal and also wrong. Justice has finally been done. Welcome to Misgav to the Zubedat family and thanks for your courage to fight the wrong that was done to you.
7. Interesting story
Vered Galili ,   Rosh Pinna   (11.01.07)
The accepted version is that the Pki'in riots were caused by a police raid following an attack on a cell phone transmission tower, Ynet published an account Wednesday afternoon of the suffering of the Jews at the hands of a violent Druze nationalist gang – then abruptly pulled it from the front page and hid all direct links to it. According to this version of the story, the Jewish families living in the ancient village said that the transmitter was "just an excuse" for violence and that six of the eight Jewish families' homes in ancient Peki'in were either burned or ransacked in the morning after the riots that received media coverage. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/124112
8. I hope the community will make their life miserable
Alex   (11.01.07)
9. accept Arab residents
Daniel ,   Israel   (11.01.07)
Only if hey are willing to live in peace. Otherwise we must be tough like Australian PM and their members of parliament.
10. The Arabs have plenty of Northern towns to live in
Dutchie ,   Netherlands   (11.01.07)
Why should they live in a Jewish town like Rakefet?
11. its a good thing there was no supreme court in 1948
aaron ,   ra'anana   (11.01.07)
because the seizure of beer sheva, the galilee, lod, eilat and west jerusalem would surely have been overturned by the judges
12. Some arab communities
who knows?   (11.01.07)
were originally Jewish and became muslim from the 18th cent, when they were killed or converted by the sword by all these invations from Egypt and the Syria. Some of these people even know their Jewish connexion. May be this couple have some Jewish roots and feels more confortable in Rakefet than in Jenin
13. Comment To #1
Moshe Quatorze ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.01.07)
This couple are Israeli citizens and have equal rights, like you, me and all other Israelis, within Israel's borders. The West Bank is considered occupied territory, there are restrictions on all there, Arab and Jew, partly due to getting in the way of the ongoing peace process. However I cannot understand why they would want to live in a community which does not want them.
14. did the courts even demand jews be allowed to live anywhere?
jack bauer   (11.01.07)
for instance where were they in hebron jerusalem gaza or anywhere else for that matter? It seems ok to tell jews they cant live somewhere but for arabs its different? What kind of town is it anyhow? And who owns the property? Do they buy it? Pay to lease perhaps? Pay to build ? It doesnt seem clear to me
15. Jewish Character
Nadav ,   Manof, Misgav   (11.01.07)
Sorry but the problem is here that when you buy a house there you want to raise your kids in a jewish neighbourhood. Next thing they will demand is either a church or or a mosque, and to bring in some cousin ....the whole place would change. ......one more question....how can a christian arab couple want their kids to raised in a purely jewish neighbourhood?
16. Don't be so shy Dutchie...
World Citizen ,   Here   (11.01.07)
...and say it: "The Arabs have 20 countries to live in so why don't they piss off already!". If you already wanna be a racist and an ethnic cleanser then be it properly.
17. Equality In Israel / Greater Israel
Moshe Quatorze ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.01.07)
I think we need to separate the issue of equality and the status of occupied territory. Any citizen should have equal rights in the State of Israel. Nobody should be more equal than others. When the issue of the West Bank is resolved, whoever lives there should have equality in the state of which their land becomes part of.
18. Nadav, imagine this....
World Citizen ,   Here and There   (11.01.07)
...a Jewish couple, somewhere outside Israel, wants to buy a place and gets rejected by the neighbourhood, because they want to keep up the lets say purely Dutch (German, Italian, Chinese... whatever) charakter of their town. Somebody says "If we let them in, next thing they'll want is to build some of those Synagogues and bring their Mischpoche in..." Would you feel racially disriminated against? Would you feel treated antisemitically? Now, read your comment again, and think about it.....
19. What an hypocrite blablabla!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (11.01.07)
Maybe in the future, when the miracle of resoving this matter among Jews and arabs and others medling on us,will be solved, then ,and only then, maybe we will be able to live together.By now,it is hypocrit and unhealthy insisting in something PEOPLE DON´T WANT,all in the name of being politicaly correct.
20. 18 if its their town, its their right to be pricks to.....
jack bauer ,   & I am dutch   (11.01.07)
whomever they choose My town was cleansed of jews when the nazis took over, now the place is filled with unemployed moslems who actually hate jews. Try putting a mezuza on your door there and trying to feel welcome! If only the people had the guts to tell the haters they were not welcome. The jews never caused us problems, and the only people who didnt want them there were the few that were jealous of their success. The cancer that filled the void left has done nothing but bring trouble into town........ I would try and force myself into a place where I'm not wanted....why should they? and then get courts to help them force it?
