1. We should not count on gov't.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.01.07)
Gov't. can only create the proper legal & regulatory framework for people to take care of themselves. The gov't. should not be in the housing business. The gov't. should not be in the pension business. Generally speaking, anything gov't. does, they do badly & inefficiently. Populist measures have failed almost everywhere in the world. And when I say this, I do not mean abandoning the weak & helpless nor allowing the elderly to live in an undignified manner. What I'm saying is that if you let gov't. handle it, that is the result you will get.
2. POLL ????
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (11.01.07)
There was no poll needed for that to find that out. We know that the state is a failed institution run by only self interested ego maniacs, who could not care less about us. We saw that very clearly in the second lebanon war and the continuid rocket attacks on the western negev. But to quote a infamous person "smegev negev" ,who cares.
3. True!
Daniel ,   Israel   (11.01.07)
Olmert should resign and make way for some straight forward leader. Threats to Israeli public are not only from idiotic small fries those are teasing Israel everyday without fail, or big sharks like Hizbullah and Iran who ones in a while make announcements of destroying Israel totally. But also from our own Government! Those in Government duties, teachers and other fat salaried people can go on strike for raise in money, holocaust survivors’ problem Government understands, then why Government does not understand problems of 200000 families those have no other manse for survival than to receive assistance from the Insurance?
4. Israeli public has little faith in State
Carolyn ,   Israel   (11.01.07)
Can you blame them, prices keep going up for food, gas every week, yet saleries stay the same. Strikes are becoming more frequent in the public sector. The educational system is going down hill everyday, politicians are being charged with taking bribes and other corruption. Now the lastest news the gov doesn't have the money to replace the gas masks they collected from us! This country is going down the tubes fast and if it doesn't change it will destroy itself due to incompetence from its leadership!
5. #3 - Who?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (11.01.07)
Daniel, you said "Olmert should resign and make way for some straight forward leader." Whom do you recommend? There is not a politician here in Israel who is not a self serving person. Where do you expect to find a worthwhile candidate that would be willing to take the job?
6. 73% are embraced by public corruption
Proofreader ,   Tel Aviv   (11.01.07)
Are they just? That's a lot of hugging ... and a lot of sexual harassment claims. Come on, ynet ...

8. The Bible says to put your trust in God, not princes.
Rivkah   (11.01.07)
It also says there is only one friend and that is God. God says in the Bible, "My people perish for lack of knowledge." So try to be prepared as best you can for whatever you can. That is not living in fear. It is living in knowledge. "The government should try to do the greatest good for the greatest number," Abraham Lincoln said, "with limited resources." People often expect too much. Even the Red Cross BILLS people for the services and blankets, etc. they provide. In America, I have found that the assistance provided to illegals and non citizen residents and nonwhite citizens is not there for me when I ask. There is always a reason not to help white people with a college degree in America, especially a military veteran since the miltitary is despised unlike in Israel. So I have learned to find ways to stay as healthy as I can and to live on as little as I can to avoid asking others for assistance which I have rarely done.
9. #5: I agree with Eric
Daniel ,   Israel   (11.01.07)
It may be you or me, but from the existing lot, Or Australian PM who has asked radical Muslims to leave the country.
10. a future for the Midle East
Uncle Jim ,   Kailua, Hawaii   (11.02.07)
Handsome, bright, capable people all, Jews, and Palestininans and all the rest. If only they didn't suffer from the age old weights of religious nationism! Hey, we are all just people! No one, nore group has all the answers. Take love, and friendship seriously, but not religion and nationalism! Shalom!
